My same represents the 2 most western schools and their respective division

From a kids perspective, I know I would have welcomed the extra game and would have enjoyed the game regardless, whether I was 16 or 1

Mapper is 100 percent correct I'd take that officiating crew any day. We got away with a couple holding calls but there's always going to be the fact of human error that's part of the game sometimes it goes your way other times it doesn't.

I like this playoff format the best, so what if some undeserving teams make it. To me that is much better than deserving teams not making it. Remember the old Highlands district? The highlands district champ would make the playoffs with a 3-7 or 4-6 record while in a tough district some one could miss out with a 9-1 or 8-2 record. All the scrub teams are out in the first round anyway. It's like the NCAA tourney there are always some surprises it just makes it more fun. This year a team like Graham or RV could make some noise that wouldn't have made it in the past. Those young guys will get at least one more week of practice which will help them come next year. The schools make a little more money, the community gets a little more involved and excited. To me it is just a win win. The "best" team don't always win that is what makes it fun. 

so you would rather let health and depth decide who the state champion is, I would rather let more teams in, it builds the resume of the future champ because they went thru even the streaking teams that improved as the season progressed. For example ridgeview, was struggling at the beginning and now I feel bad for Giles.

I was very disappointed that Giles forbid the cannon for lee though. Very sad.

I see this being a close game, lee's new offensive should have the fumbles fixed beyond the regular ones and what little I saw we are using some of our size.
 
Lee has troubles with mobile quarterbacks if their D holds and they learn to defend a screen this will be Lee's game to lose, if central jumps out early it's a blow out.
 
No offensive to central but next year is your year to clean house if I remember correctly, a lot of young talent if memory serves me right.

The biggest and the most pathetic was the thin skinned official, He needs to be suspended and reviewed.

If this was jv, 8th grade, little league, etc; I would side with the players and parents however this is varsity. The joy ride and roses is over because his job coaching is on the line. Building on that, this is were important lessons of working harder to get what you want are firmly established.

The lack of screen, counters, and outside runs are the problem with lee. It's either a run up the gut or a qb run up the other gut. Add in a screen play, some wr motion counter, and triple option the lanes would open up while giving the qb some confidence.
It's a simple fix that adds layers and allows you to be unpredictable. Jib run game look impressive from what I saw.

You are dealing with very short attention spans and the added pressure from winning.Truthfully, I stopped coaching due to parent wanting to win so bad and getting mad because I was "platoon"ing my team so EVERYONE got equal play time and experience.
However come tournament time, if there was one I would start playing certain kids more just to instill the need to get better have more playing time. I feel like that is a good medium between the broken system of everyone gets a trophy and the pathetic excuse to push your kids too hard to early.

Not to steer the conversation back on track, but I see traveling as 3 different levels.
Level 1 is VA east of blacksberg
Level 2 is Swva
Level OVER 9000, is Thomas walker, Jesus Christ. 7 schools in other states actually closer than the first 1a school. Traveling as that school, you really have to know to occupy the kids on a bus.
