I was there at Buffalo Gap and Franklin games. Been in the trenches with those guys for over 15 yrs. Loved it when we put LPD pride on the helmets as the LPD was being replaced by a new district. Forced the Greenwave into a weak Cumberland District that they dominated every year! 

Hopefully he'll be disappointed come tomorrow night. Since you mentioned that football final I was there in my JJK gear screaming my head off for the Wave (same vs Franklin). I've made many trips upstate to pull for local kids that weren't Indians.

From what I've heard/read, Eastside should be a (slight) favorite and Lawson will be best player on floor.

I saw Lee play twice season this against East Rockingham. We split with them. They are not as good as last year. Vaughn is good but can be a head case.  I think this match up favors GC. Lee kind of plays like they are in a school yard.. try to block everything, try to push when it is not there etc.  But they are really athletic. They used their athleticism to beat most teams. Central Woodstock is a poor mans GC and they could have beaten Lee twice if their coach had a clue. GC has better horses than CW. I think McClung will score at will. If Hatcher was still the Lee coach, I would say GC by 15-20. Their new coach is just a little smarter and MAY try to play defense against GCs perimeter players. Can’t believe I am saying this but Go GC!

Graham just dug far too deep a hole for itself with the 12 first half turnovers, and those extra possessions were really the story of the game.  Proud as a peach of how the G-Men fought and clawed all season long, and we’ll always have that shocker at UVA-Wise.
 
Now, Gate City, the first 29 games mean nothing without victory in the 30th.  Take care of business at the Siegel Center Friday.  There’s a lot of demons to be exorcised for this whole region in boys’ basketball.  Do it.

I think Honaker, Eastside, Graham and Gate City advances. 

So 2 wrongs make it right? (refer to my above post/point about scum in all fanbases) I am sure you aren't the first one to pull against our own local kids and you won't be the last. It is a personal choice,and I choose to support ALL of the youngsters in our area. We all know there's more than enough folks past Roanoke that are against us. As heavily as the odds are stacked against us,these kids need every bit of help they can get.

Shows immaturity on both sides. Great role models are abundant aren't they. My daughter grads from Wise but I pull for Ridgeview, Burton, Union, Eastside ,etc..Good people and hard working athletes in each school. 

It's sad that a fan base would make someone stoop to that:( I saw the pics on Facebook of the RV parents flipping off the Central girls after the jv championship last week and was reminded that there's scum in all fan bases. Having said that,I always pull for the kids in our area. They can't help that their so-called adult peeps are idiots.

At the end of the day, we’re all Southwest Virginians, and that’s an awfully special bond.  I might prance around like the cock of the walk, but when it comes down to it, if Graham can’t win it, I’d rather Gate City than anyone else.  It’s been an awfully long time since a 2A School tasted success in this sport.

It's a shame to hold an opinion of someone you've never met over a "backdoor" deal that was never officially confirmed. Fred is as nice a guy as I've ever met.

I got there in the 4th of the Eastside/Chilhowie game yesterday.  Heard Eastside got off to a slow start but it was a 20pt game when I got there. 
VA High seemed to beat Ridgeview to every 50/50 ball.  22 for Va High had a heckuva game and when they had the lead late 5 couldnt be caught and kept the clock moving.
RC/PH was a great game and I am happy for my friends and family who eeked out a win.  RC only led the last 39 seconds of the game.  The Yarber kid from PH has a bright future. 6-2 I believe I heard was her height and played well older than most freshman.  It was fun seeing her and Abigail Roller from RC battle.  An all Cumberland final for 1RD title.  The experience seemed to win out when the rubber met the road.

There was a good size crowd at the VHS/RV game. As I was leaving after, there were a lot of people heading in.

After Isaiah McAmis got his 1,000th point they stopped the game as they always do to take a pic or two, get the ball to the parents, etc.
As all of this was happening, Fred, his entire staff and entire team came off the bench and congratulated McAmis on his accomplishment. I had never seen the entire opposing team and coaches congratulate a player mid-game like that.
Say what you want about Fred but he runs a program Richlands can be proud of, he truly cares about the kids, school, and town. 

I think the Graham and Central game will be a great game. Think Gate City,  Eastside and Honaker move on.  Then Eastside and Honaker will be a great match up...Graham  and Gate City would be another good game.
