big ugly vol

Not to jump on Sproles, who I love as a player and seems to be a good kid, but this kind of stuff has gotten out of hand at Ridgeview. Every week we get multiple penalties for players trash talking and several punches have been thrown. Why would you punch somebody wearing a helmet? I’m disappointed that Rick Mullins hasn’t gotten this under control, and surprised we haven’t had an ejection before this. 

I just watched it. It kinda looks like the Honaker player started throwing after flying up on a run and then got turned inside and started windmilling. Even that is iffy because the play goes on by as does the camera. It was raining so I doubt anybody had their camera out.

It is a problem but I'm happy to play schools like Ridgeview and Union that fill the stands . Driving to Christiansburg to win by 4tds and out number the home team in fans isnt much fun . Ridgeview showing up with all their Rowdy fans at Abingdon was awesome.  Friday at Union was great so glad my son was able to experience what SW VA football is all about

Just for the record RV’s loss to Abingdon was a glaring example of what I think the Packs two biggest weaknesses are. 1st play calling is usually awful and was that night too. 2nd the weight program is laughable, although it was better this year. This game was won and lost in the weight room long before the teams ever took the field. Big and tough is usually earned, so good for them.  They earned. I hope the kids enjoy it, and that’s not sarcasm. 

Right there with you pal.  I've stayed off the board since Friday because I just didn't want to talk about it.  The folks on Facebook are trying to make the world think we lost because of the BS call on that TD pass where the guy was out of bounds.  That's NOT why we lost.  We came back from that and actually led by 10 at the end of 3.  We did NOT finish and put the game out of reach when we had the opportunity.  We did NOT get the ball to our other playmakers.  Right now it's as if the the offensive coaches think there's one playmaker on this team, and as good as Adkins is, he simply can't do it all.
I just feel so bad for Sexton in all of this.  He has to be wondering at this point why he transferred from Eastside.

Wish I could go to this game. Alas,  my son is a senior at Ridgeview, so I’m stuck at Pike Central Friday. Abingdon’s OL is big and NASTY!!!! Fun to watch for an old big ugly. They dominated us up front. Dominated doesn’t even really do it justice. Gonna DVR  Abingdon / Union I guess.

They are the only 3A school in SWVA. It was either join a 2A district or travel 3 days by mule each week to River Ridge district opponents. 

Coaches were NOT prepared for Abingdon.  In fact defense hasnt been same since Union game.  Trying to get Adkins the ball last 2 games when teams were keying on him.  Last week when they FINALLY got Sexton ball he had well ober 100 yds on 11 carries and didnt touch ball until 2nd half.  

A friend of mine never kissed Blaine Hackney's posterior for running that punt back 99 yards against Powell Valley in 1993 after he said he would either.  Lol
That said EH... bring me my frosty Thursday night bro.  :)

Who won the game, fight wasn't much. If that had been at Hurley, people would have been Med Flighted out with arms and legs missing. lol

Most places have ems there, I know my alma mater did. However, there is a big drain on most rural ems limited manpower, and they can’t always be there or get there. I would think if it took an ambulance crew 45 mins to get there then there probably wouldn’t have been a crew available for the game. Just my guess. 

I don’t think either team played their best, but that happens when two heavyweights slug it out sometimes. I didn’t think Ridgeview could do it. Wish Union well the rest of the season. 

There's a closeout sale happening at the Walmart in Norton this week because the Pack are putting them out of business.

Thanks for listening, that problem should be resolved, we had to use a backup sound mic last week and it created a muffled effect and made us sound like we were in a hole. Hopefully all will be resolved this week.

If I wanted the kind of abuse that referees take, such as yelled at, spit on, criticized on everything,  and even have my ancestry questioned, I would just have my mother-in-law move in.

I have been fortunate enough to have access to Marshall Johnson's records at the VHSL in Charlottesville In going thru Marshall Johnson's records I Found the 1972 Ervinton / Twin Springs score.  0-0.  I knew it was a tie but for 8 years had never found the score.  Also In Marshall Johnson's records is a game for Richlands vs the Emory & Henry Freshmen in 1930. Richlands won 20-0.  Much more to come as i decipher his handwriting and shorthand - aka Egyptian hieroglyphics.  lol.  

Been hearing it for years, but what are your Black Friday specials

I’ve always wondered why they wait til all teams are eliminated. At the college level, all-conference teams are announced prior to the start of conference tournaments. Seems to me they would get more press that way as opposed to announcing the teams when everyone is in basketball mode.

Officiating was terrible but equally terrible.
I was right there with the fiasco after the game. Several fans felt the need to show themselves by yelling and screaming obscenities at the refs as they were walking off the field. One even felt it was a good idea to get up in a refs face and yell. At some point a ref supposedly shoved the guy away and things got really heated, including the guys wife pulling him by the arm begging him to stop. I didnt see the shove but supposedly after that a woman got shoved too. 
 
Lots of fans were upset and yelling, a handful took it too far. Nasty, embarrassing scene. 
 
On a positive note the RV players all ran out carrying American flags and a group of vets presented the colors before the game,  really classy.
