  1. Abingdon will definitely be reloading and not rebuilding this year. They will be replacing some key elements but should be fine with the depth they had last year and the number of players that got playing time. The battle for the top spot in the Mountain 7 will be between Abingdon, Union and Ridgeview.
  2. Good luck finding that. We can't even find district standings
  3. Abingdon Baseball is 7-0 in the district and 12-2 overall. I haven't seen anything in the BHC lately about softball record. I did find this link but not sure how often it is updated: Lonsome Pine Sports
  4. Anyone know of a link or where we can view the the district or class standings for baseball and softball. The newspapers carry that info for football but these spring sports are super hard to find. Any help is much appreciated.
  5. Abingdon Falcon Head Boys Basketball Coach Welcome to the nest Coach Williams
  6. Lack of umpires and refs might be the biggest issue out there. The last few years the number of refs seems to be dropping and it looks like they aren't getting many young talent out there. I'm not sure what they make per game or event but it must not be very lucrative to invest the time to do that. Many do it because they love the game. It certainly is a tough job at times I would bet. I still am thankful for those that take up the calling and do their very best to officiate the game properly. Hats off to you guys who go out and do the job many complain about.
  7. Baseball: Lebanon will be a force to reckon with in 2A Abingdon is a lot better than some had thought since losing Francisco and Hungate to graduation. Patrick Henry is the 1A team that looks to be making a statement Union is a solid team and should make some noise in 2A Virginia High is looking to get on track but Coach Daniels usually has them ready come playoff time
  8. I might be naive, but watching the game last night, was it me or did one guard appear to go out of his way to not pass the ball to Mac? He was right there. wide open. But nope, gonna try and force a bad pass into the lane in a bad situation and bang, turnover. It seemed like this kind of thing was happening possession after possession all night. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Heck i was rooting for the Hoyas because a SWVA boy plays there.

  10. Great seeing these local boys doing well
  11. A really nice article today by Nate Hubbard in the Bristol Hearld Courier about Abingdon's Head Coach Garrett Amburgey being the prep coach of the year. https://www.heraldcourier.com/sports/prep-football-coach-of-the-year-garrett-amburgey-abingdon/article_c7710f36-25a8-11e9-bc6b-3fed4996099f.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=user-share
  12. You gotta admit it. The kid is doing good. The lights aren't too bright and the stage isn't to big for this kid. Good Job Mac
  13. This all day. The other one was. Where is the Thacker kid from JIB?
  14. Here is a change for you: Garrett Amburgey has the interim tag removed and is now the official head football coach at Abingdon High School

  16. This from the person who thinks GC will have a way better record next year than the previous 3 seasons. Actually Grapeape you might be right. If GC wins 3 football games it'll be like winning a state championship.
  17. I agree with the G-Men's OL and DL but there is no way they would allow one team to taken up that many position spots. They will spread it around.
