No denying what Appomattox has done recently. Impressive and unmatched. Watched them play Graham past 2 years and can say they look to be a class act. Having said that, since coach Palmer has been at the helm, he has led us out of the desert for which we wandered for too many years. Let’s hope he can win a few more. Get the feeling we will be seeing Appomattox more in the future as they were young this year yet a really good team. I feel like we have some talent coming up too. 

@oldfool Out of reactions but thanks for the post. Appomattox is an elite program and I have great respect for the coaches and players, class act! Playing y’all only makes the GMen better. It was a dogfight and the Raiders should hold their heads high, great season for a young team. Pennix is amazing! I hope the Raiders & GMen meet again in the future. Hopefully, our boys play hard and smart and bring the hardware home! Certainly appreciate your support! 

Hated missing this game. My wife was listening to it and texting me almost play by play. The Raiders just made too many mistakes ( opening drive fumble, other fumble,...) and some where just bad luck,.. (the punt that bounced back to hit our player, the KO the looked like it was going out of bounds and made an incredible bounce left going straight to the gold line --I couldn't tell if our kid had to pick it up or if it would have carried into the endzone but,....)
Graham made plenty of penalties that the Raiders didn't make them pay for. I'm only watching the HUDL film and haven't finished the game yet but their RB is a problem for sure. And I think 56 made our line look JVish at times.

Guarantee you this, only my opinion, Doug Smith could take that Radford team and beat his own by 2 touchdowns.  Coaching was all of the difference in the world.  Pennix being out hurt Appo.  If you watch closely, he didn't play but 3 offensive plays in the first half and got the ball once in the first half.  He played defense in the first half on most of the snaps, but not all.  He wasn't returning kickoffs which he normally does, and he played fulltime in the 4th quarter, but clearly didn't have his burst that he normally has, even though having him at 70 or so percent was dangerous enough.  

I will say this, I have always enjoyed the big loud crowds, cowbells horns cannons and even that Lee county horse, the Big Rig with horns on it from Gate City, I will be at my normal spot on the visitors side scoreboard end , the only thing that bothered me was bands that had no purpose except beat on the drums for 4 quarters, I really enjoyed Surry County band when they used the park playing Appalachia for state. Bring it all insult the refs ( within reason) leave the kids alone and enjoy the the game, if I wanted to be quiet I would go to a funeral, there must be a lot of democrats in Tazwell county, because us Republicans like to raise sand when we get fired up

Retired after 34 years, and even if I was there in uniform bring it if you can carry it ! Louder the better

Appomattox has a benefit game against LCA. 

LCA moving to class 2 is crazy!  Love what the school stands for but see too many high level players transferring and have watched talented kids kids "reclassify" in 8th grade to gain an extra year of high school athletics upon attending.

Runner up Div 3 Football Champs.  The certainly played in the Championship and expected to win, but the Phantoms from Hampton, VA, weren't having any fear of name recognition.  Considering the history of Phoebus High and all of their state titles, I think they felt somewhat disrespected playing against a school without a football state title and most folks in the media and on social media were predicting LCA to beat em.
The VHSL will certainly let LCA play Class 3.  They are aware of the complaints and aware of the advantage LCA has, and I don't see LCA having any issue playing Class 3.  If the VHSL were smart, they would one up em, and say, "We granted your appeal to play up, but we granted it 2 times, you are now in Class 4."
