This area still hasn’t adapted out of the smash mouth football mindset.

Systems like the run and shoot and air raid were designed for your receivers to be an extension of your run game. You get your best athletes in space, find the soft spot of the defense & let the QB get the ball out quickly. The quick hitters and screen plays are basically your 5 yard run plays which ultimately forces the defense to move closer to the line of scrimmage which opens up the throws over the top.

Another thing that offense does on a high school level is it keeps the interest level high for the players. Kids don’t want to be fullbacks and tight ends anymore. They like to emulate what they see on tv. How many college/pro offenses are lining up under center and pounding the ball in to the middle of the defense? They’d rather be a Tyreek Hill than a Patrick Ricard.

Tazewell has 11 different players on the roster that have caught a touchdown pass this season. There’s been two separate games that Creasy has thrown 6 touchdown passes to 6 different receivers.

I’m not arguing those stats in this situation to say that he’s better than any other quarterback. I’m just using it to show that everyone is getting involved, they’re not force feeding anyone.

First off, why would you want your QB throwing 45 yard bombs into double coverage?
Secondly,  why is arm talent, and by your previous post you are referring to arm strength Mel Kiper, Jr, the standard by which you measure QB's? You know who had great arm talents. JaMarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf. Both could throw the ball further than Uncle Rico in the rain. How'd that arm talent work out for them? Today's game is mostly the screen game, that's why the Running Back market has dwindled in pay. Why would you not want your best athletes to have the ball in space?

Creasy is currently 9th in career passing yards, T-10th in in career TD passes, and 6th in career pass completions in VHSL history but he's underwhelming?!?!?

I’m not saying he’s a bad qb. He is just underwhelming, there have been numerous qbs this year that I’ve seen that are far more talented. Musick, Reece, O’Quinn, and Anderson I would probably put before him in a ranking.

Sometimes "here comes the train," sometimes "here comes the airplane." It's all about knowing your personnel and Harris is excellent at it.

Force feed a quarterback? How does that work?

Theoretically there’s a 25% probability of it being Graham vs. Union in the region final.

The following scenarios each have a theoretical probability of 25%:
    Gate City at Union
    Graham vs Tazewell
    Gate City vs. Tazewell

As far as the most likely scenario based on different factors it will most likely be Union hosting Graham.

Tazewell deserves some respect, as does Gate City. Neither Union nor Graham can afford to overlook their opponents. Do that and it could be Gate City vs. Tazewell.

I would personally like to see Union vs. Gate City. During the pre-consolidation years Powell Valley vs. Gate City were games for the ages from 01-10. In fact, there were only 3 seasons from 01-10 in which the teams did not meet in the playoffs. Those were 02, 06, and 10.

I’m not saying it didn’t happen. I’m just saying that when I have seen him play that i have seen a couple of qbs that had far more arm talent than him. Every high school doesn’t have the right personnel like tazewell has to run those types of offense. His last couple of years he had a bunch of stud wr’s that he could just throw the ball up and they could go get it. Again I am not trying to take anything away from the kid, simply just stating my opinion.

And congratulations to him on those achievements. I’m just saying when I’ve seen him play it’s not like he’s throwing 45 yard bombs in double coverage. He’s just hitting little screen passes. I’m not saying he’s not talented, I’m just saying for him to be 10th on that td list he does not have as much arm talent as one would think

So, the 85 yard TD pass I saw him throw in the 1st quarter Saturday that traveled 50 yards in the air and hit the receiver perfectly in stride didn’t happen?
Besides, have you watched football at every level in recent years. Tom Brady made a 25 year hall-of-fame career throwing those types of passes. It’s the way the games played now. It’s an extension of the run game.

If it’s so easy, why isn’t every high school team in our region duplicating his feats?

Give me Alvin Mack and Lance Harbor. Both with working ACLs and no leg injuries.
Also heard Tweeder was going to Tazewell to beef up stats with their pass-happy game plan, Already been voted President of the FFA too.

Just heard 15 minutes ago that Billy Bob and Jonathan Moxon are transferring from West Canaan, TX to Graham. That should beef up Grahams LOS and give them a major upgrade at QB.

I've stated my take on this before.  I used to be a "stick it out" hardliner; however, after going through my eldest's high school years/experience, I've change my views substantially.  There is a fine line here, though.  Parents need to understand that there are absolutely coaches/staffs, etc. that are going to be influenced by nepotism, status and favors in determining playing time and positional choices.  There are "hook-ups" and good-ole boy clubs, more so here than any other place I've been.  Not all of them and not even most of them, but damn sure some of them.  Look no further than Union.....the kid couldn't start at QB at a traditionally run-heavy offense at a 2A school but transfers to a 5A school that has modern passing concepts.  Hmmmm.......that's a great move for the kid.
Parents must have a realistic assessment of their child's talent.  This is where we lose most of the parents.  They think their child is D-1 material but have never seen a true D-1 athlete up close.  Parents need to understand the impact of their child's positional choice and evaluate if their physical characteristics are capable of that position choice.  If your kid is 6'3", 210 and runs a 4.8 40, he isn't a next level WR, he is a TE waiting to happen.  Another issue is sometimes your local high school's offensive/defensive philosophy won't allow your child opportunities to shine.  This is a valid concern.  The talented QB or WR that languishes in a Wing-T offense is hurting their ability to make an impact.  I absolutely would relocate my kid if that was the situation.  Another thing is sometimes kids want to transfer to a program that is more committed to improving and winning and player development. The good and competitive kids want to win and be in a winning environment. Can't blame them.
Now, there are definitely reasons NOT to transfer and not being able to take criticism or compete for starting position are a few of them.  This seems to be what most of the board members assumes are the issues in most cases. I don't disagree; however, there are damn sure valid reasons for kids to relocate.  There are a lot of talented kids that should have had their college degree paid for or, at least, greatly subsidized through football but stayed in detrimental situations.  "But, what about the team?"  Good question, so let's ask some of the coaches that.  Coach, what about the team?  Why did you not start the more talented kid? Most of the time there are good answers; however, sometimes there aren't.
So, if you would leave your current job for a better opportunity or more money, can you blame a kid for basically doing the same?

If Graham stacks the line they are going to be in for a long night. Tazewell have the passing attack to take advantage of that. I think you have to play a light box and make them run the ball to beat you. Graham is balanced only in the since that they pass and run attempts are close to equal. Anything longer than 10 yards down field is iffy at best. QB edge goes to Tazewell for sure. Both defenses are pretty solid but over all I would probably lean Graham there weak spot is the backend and Tazewell can make you pay there. This is going to sound crazy but I think this game comes down to special teams. Can Tazewell convert on the 2 point conversions since they dont seem to like to kick PAT. Will Graham block a punt? Will one of these teams return a kick for 6? If there has been a year to get Graham in the SWD over the last 6 year it is this year and Tazewell is the only school with the fire power to do it. It is sad however that due to power points even with a win they are still behind Graham in seeding. I predict we will have a rematch second round of the playoffs.

Wishing both teams well.  I think Tazewell can win this game with a good solid passing attack and keeping the Gmen's offense off the field.  Graham's running game could be the difference, but I think its time for Tazewell to take the next step and come out on top.  I'm going with the Dawgs in a close one. Dawgs 28--Gmen 27
