They have the support no doubt my main point is that in their region and the fact the Coach Robinson keeps getting kids to come out and work their tails off they will continue to play into thanksgiving just like the programs I have mentioned will they be able to win it all I don’t know because Riverheads isn’t going anywhere either

Yes that’s what I’m saying. I would put money on it that if you got to a Marion PH or GW games at 6:45 you would have time to grab a hot dog and get to your seat before kick off not the case at Chilhowie. Chilhowie also graduated 18 seniors and still rolling. But now that I think about it you are right they arnt the next Richlands Graham or Union because they don’t need tazewell or J.I. Burtons best players to be dominant

I think it is safe to say that Coach Robinson has mastered the art of getting his kids to buy into a program. He has been doing the same thing on the baseball diamond for years. Chilhowie is quickly turning into a Richlands, Graham, or Union type program in 1a for this side of the state. I was honestly shocked about the amount of drop off that didn’t happened from last year. Now when you think about it those kids that are starters now have gotten a whole season worth of extra practice in the last 2 years that other teams that missed or didn’t go deep in the play offs have missed out on. Add that to the fact they were practicing against a pretty dang good group of seniors and have a master motivator in Coach Robinson makes for a pretty dang good team. I also think community support helps a lot. On top of packing the house for every home game they have some of the best facilities in their county in almost every sport and it’s not even close. As long as the regions continue to be split like they are expect chilhowie to play on thanksgiving at the worst for years to come.

Abingdon pulls a Tennessee football and overlooks this one and loses 30-38 because just like Georgia States head coach said in the locker room at Gate City it just means more to us

We'll learn everything we need to know about region 1D and the SWD (behind Graham) after Marion at Chilhowie in week 1.

One of the best football players in SWVA that very, very few will talk about is the Moss kid from Marion. Very few will talk about him because he doesn’t touch the football (unless he destroys the ballcarrier and causes and recovers a fumble). The Bearcats have played Marion 3 times in the last 2 seasons, and every time I’ve watched him, he has impressed me very much.
If I’m not mistaken, he has already been voted All-Region twice in football, and he is an absolute stud in the heavyweight division on the wrestling mat.
My son graduated VHS this spring with multiple scholarship offers in two sports. He has been mentioned by many associated with VHS football over the years(not me) as one of the best two-way football players from VHS in a long time. He played against the likes of James Mitchell, Taymon Cooke, Cam Allen, John-Luke Asbury, Jake Sturgill, Matthew Fulton, Javon Scruggs, DeVon Graves, Landon Lowe, Seth Johnson, Jeb Stidham, Cody Howie, Hunter Collier, Greg Sanchez, Logan Branson, Courtland Carter, Ryan Gibson, Lane Scarborough, and many others, and he says that Moss is one of the baddest MFers he’s ever lined up against. Film proves that to be true.
Just like my kid and the Stanley kid from Lebanon last year, Moss plays at a school that is mostly an afterthought in football in our region. This usually means that the standout players get very little recognition by the casual fan.
A big difference between the first set of names I mentioned and kids like Moss, are that the first group of kids played on really good teams. All of those kids in the first group were/are uber talented, but nearly all  of those kids did not have to shoulder a huge majority of the load of responsibility for their respective teams, except for maybe Scarborough at Battle and Collier at Gate City. Hell, just about all of the guys in the first group have a teammate mentioned in that group. Those kids in the first group also had other really, really good teammates that I didn’t even mention, and most had top notch coaches as well.

I have seen that happen too and that is a just sad for the kids honestly. I think is good to have a summer job in high school but a 14-17 year old kid shouldn’t have to quit a sport to put food on the table.
As far as fumes go those vape pens and juuls are probably the worst thing to happen to high school kids. You can’t keep them away from it

Jags52 reacted to Plywood_King in COACHING IN 2019
It's with a heavy heart that I must announce, after praying and discussing it with my family, I will not be returning as head coach of the Tiburon Landsharks for the 2019 season of offline dynasty on NCAA Football 14. I won't rule out coaching again in the future and I will certainly miss the kids and the community, but between work and personal life, I've found that adding coaching to my schedule is too taxing when considering how many important things there are in life, like Red Dead Redemption 2. Ultimately, I want to be able to take some time to go hunting, catch some fish, and maybe take a trip to Tajiti.
Just have faith, stick to the plan, and eventually another opportunity will arise. Probably somewhere in Scott County.

I'm wondering if Stone is positioning himself to start a football program at Cornerstone in the future
They're still too small (enrollment) to play 11-man any time soon, but they could theoretically play 8-man or 6-man in the next few years
It wasn't that long ago that Mountain Empire Baptist School in Bristol (TN) was winning regularly at the 8-man Christian school level

Prior to Steve Wright's hiring in 2011, Battle had 7 seasons above .500 and 2 playoff appearances in the entire history of the school. Not every school has a Gate City, Union, or Graham pedigree that can just get focused and accomplish something great. Battle genuinely has had to build from scratch and the fact that they have been consistently competitive is a good sign that Stone's staff had the program trending in an upward direction.

Hard to keep coaches in Smyth County when you can 10-15 miles either way on 81 and get a 5 to 10 thousand dollar pay raise.

Oh to be a fan again. I report next Friday morning for my first college scrimmage of spring ball, have a clinic to attend Saturday, and two more preseason clinics already on the calendar paid for with rooms booked. VHSL stuff usually won't start up until the end of July, but if you pull double duty like me, you literally get about 2 months away from football. I'm not complaining though, just providing some insight to those that are not aware of the work and sacrifice that goes into our avocation as officials. Remember, we don't drop out of the sky on Friday's and Saturday's.
