He will be starting next time he's allowed to play and probably a captain. Mount View's problem is coaching and discipline. They should be competing for state titles every single year in single A with the athletes they have year in and year out. It's sad to see.

💯 %! I don’t know who the head coach is but I hold him partially responsible. The kid is to blame for his actions but something’s not right with the “culture” At Mount View if the players were behaving badly the entire game. Then ripping off pads and thinking a brawl is some kind of joke. 

Also to be completely fair #7 (I think) seemed to be the only one on the sideline to have a problem with his actions, so respect to him. Sad to see the kid have more accountability than his adult coaches. 

Also, this is why you never feel sorry for Gate City. 

I thought we’d win. I really did. Much closer game than 27-6. Was 13-6 in the 4th and Union had the ball. Just couldn’t quite get over the hump. I didn’t love play calling at times but even when we had our stuff executed they were on us pretty quick. It’s tough to teach the speed that defense had.

No matter how he meant it, it needs to be relayed to the Union players that it was a smack in the face. Any motivation helps.. lol.

Agree not giving up hope this season either just realistically think it’d be hard to win this season starting 6 sophomores.  Kinda like the old saying you need to get a ass whooping before delivering one 

The middle school Qb Potter is very sharp as well. The numbers are through the roof. The future for the program at UHS is very bright.

I think we all, myself included, were worried after the Elizabethton performance. However, I watched the Betsy Defensive line absolutely destroy science hill last night. It doesn’t change how the performance was or how Union will develop over the next 11 weeks, but it’s definitely something.

We do, but I have no idea whether or not they're streaming tonight. Likely so. 

I live in Tennessee now and a lot of the people  I talk to and the TN forums I read say Betsy is the favorite (or top 2) to win the TSSAA 4A State championship. Take that for what it’s worth. 

Just getting back from the scrimmage and thought I’d share what happened and some of my armchair opinions. 
 
Varsity ones v ones was a 7-7 draw. Elizabethton scored on a very long pass where Union was in good coverage but the WR was extremely fast and outran everyone. Fair play to him! Union scored after a long pass to huff and then a few good plays inside the 10. 
 
Pros for the Bears is the defense once again looks to be in a good spot to start the season. The front 7 contained the run game very well against a much bigger Betsy front 5. Anderson ran the ball well and made a couple quick, decisive decisions through the air. He’s primed for a great year I think. Bears fans will be happy to hear that they only ran one play out of the T, with the rest being a spread out/pistol game.
