What are they seeing in Gate City that I'm missing???
 
I think GC will be good this year but they won't be world beaters.  I don't see them beating Richlands, or Bluefield, and will likely lose one/two more games.  7-3 is the best I see them doing this year.

Give 'em a W-2 and a letter that informs these guys that for the past years they were "employees" of the university, they owe back taxes and union dues.  "Contact you tax professional", that'll sober 'em up real quick.

Hell, Graham doesn't start practice until Monday...three wasted days, going to be behind everyone else when the season starts...smh....

We are getting close to the start of season! Two-a-days are right around the corner, and the season will be here before we know it. With that comes the annual Pick'Em!!! 
 
The format we have used the past 3 years works nicely. Don't have to pick every week to make the playoffs, but still rewards those who are consistent but never get that win (me). 
 
Here are the rules again:
 
1. One point per correct pick
 
2. There will be a Game of the Week (GotW), with 3 points awarded for correctly picking the winner, and an additional 2 points up for grabs if you guess the correct combined score as well. There may be dual GotWs, so there are points to be had here.
 
3. Each weekly winner will auto-qualify for the SWVA Sports Pick'Em Playoffs
 
4. There will be a weekly running total kept to settle the "wild card" spots. This also seeds those who have won a week as well. 
 
5. Tiebreakers are as follows:
     A: Correct GotW pick
     B: Closest to combined score, without going over.
     C: If both go over, closest to the correct score.
     D: If same score is picked, there will be a number picked 1-10. The number will be flowed through a reliable 3rd party poster (GMan), and whoever is closest to that number wins. We've never came down to tiebreaker D, but I guess it's good to have it before it happens. 
 
 
I will post the games for Week 1 on August 25th.

Chris is a good kid...I call him kid because I knew him as a "kid" growing up in Bluefield, VA.  I think he will bring a fine work ethic and will be a good addition to Rural Retreat.  Good luck, Chris!

Graham only lost one game that year, however, they had THREE ties...Marion 13-13, Andrew Lewis 19-19, and William Fleming 7-7.  The only loss was to Bluefield, 20-0.

Va Tech placed Steven at FUMA for a year.  That can only be a positive thing for this young man.  He will figure out what he needs to do from a football perspective.  He needs guidance and structure off the field.  
 
IMO, this is the best possible option for his future!

If not for the fact that the county has been trying that since the 60's and also of all the money pumped into the facilities (school and athletic fields both) the last 5 years I would agree. 

And since Bland and Rocky Gap are consolidating schools, can we just call them Bland instead of Bland/Rocky Gap???

Lebanon has always been a "trouble maker" when it comes to redistricting.  Look at their history all the way back to the 70's.  They've been in more districts than I've been in bars.  They were the reason the old SWD broke up into the SWD and Highlands.  They are never satisfied with whatever district they are in.
 
Also, I call BS on Riverheads being in Class A...
