    He should.

So he can run out of the T? (Dont see that transferring would benefit him in any way unless Ridgeview compleatly mishandles there coaching hire

I have heard that Central picked up a kid from Burton though any truth to that?

I was shocked by how bad we were at times against the pass this year. Nowhere to go but up.

I am sure alot was due to breaking in new starters at all the DB spots but who ever runs the D next season will need to make sure that aspect of the game improves

Both absolutely do, but you cant put the blinders on. You have to be more open, thats tough to do when youre invested and truly believe in a philosophy.

Read Option would have been devastating last season. Run Adkins on Zone Dive and read the DE, or fake Dive and run QB Keeper.  Either would have made it impossible to completely sell out on stopping Adkins. Mix in a little Jet to Lewis or Hill and youve got a OFFENSE that would be tough to handle vs a Running Back thats tough to handle.

All those kids are back next season so it could still happen......One thing I will say is that Coach Mullins is without a doubt turning over a team that is set up to be a Region D contender

IMHO the bigger issue for next season is retooling the Defense that is losing several key players and was far from solid vs the pass

PH is another example, their Tailback Dahley got hurt in their last game of the regular season if im not mistaken and they just werent ready to spread the ball around. The issues with his offense go deeper than just believing in "being great a few plays" imo, his offense is almost completely give the Tailback the ball. Last season for example they had 2 great tailbacks; one stud D1 prospect and one scat back who was one of the most explosive players in the region. As the season went on Adkins got the ball more and more, while they shied away from running Jet with the other guy and his carries dropped. It made them more predictable and easier to defend. Richlands just attacked Adkins while other, talented players werent touching the ball.

Yeah Grant has been the OC for a few years now, idk whether its that he holds the same philosophy as Mullins or didnt have a free hand but Grant has been much the same. The Clintwood teams that were really good had a FB that could also run the ball and 2 TEs, with that personnel Mullins was hard to stop but when they have more slot reciever/scat back types they struggle to use them effectively.

Its easy to nit pick, I could do the same with James Colley. He would get caught up in all the possibilities and forget to just give his dude the ball. Happened a lot and cost Haysi some games, the Altavista game in '12. Bowen, a 2000 yard back had a hand full of carries. They were keying on him but hes still your guy, gotta give him the ball. Coach was on the opposite end of the spectrum from Mullins

Honestly both philosophies have mart (We will work on what we do well and leave it to you to stop it, or take what the Defense gives you even if it is not what you want to be doing.

The one thing i would have liked to see RV do better this season is get the QB more involved in the running game Would like to have seen Lewis in the game with Adkins a bit more as well I think that kid may have a big season next year

He would be number 1 on my wish list.  But I don't see that happening.

I've heard a couple people mention Mark Palmer, but I don't see that happening either.

I'm betting on Tiller, which would be ok with me.

Where is Rob Colley currently at?

  6. Assuming that RV gets there new HC from inside the existing staff I think the top 3 choices would be Tiller, Edwards or Grant I know that Tiller and I think Edwards both have Head Coaching experience and Grant has been one of the best assistant coaches in the area for years.

Whoever gets the job will be getting an offence loaded with returning skill players and should be able to put alot of points on the board

I hear rain is forecast for this Friday.. how impacting would this be?

Honestly probably not much neither team really opens up the passing game that mcht and the game is on Turf so no mud or footing issues. Guess it could effect the kicking game but not sure that hurts or benefits anyone

That's crazy stats!!! Does he normally play all four quarters even when game is put away? He's definitely a force to be reckoned with as far as Ridgeview vs Central rematch. I guess he'll hit 3,000 Friday unless Warriors shut him down.

No I think Central, Union, (I cant remember exactly when the starters were pulled from the Pikeville game) are the only games that he played the full 4 qtrs most games the starters are in 1 or 2 series into the 3rd vs Marion he had 296 yards in the 1st half on I think 12 carries.

This will be a great game,if it rains i see a game of a runner, vs team of runners. Turnovers may be the key to this , I see CENTRALS D LINE just stacking up the middle hoping that ADKINS dont break one, or RIDGE VIEW using the wheel route to ADKINS to loosen up the D.

If I remember correctly Central stacked the box in the 1st game. It was also the game that Hess pulled a hamstring in and was hobbled for most of the game add to that the emergence of Hill and Beavers at WR and IMHO RV is a much bigger passing threat than they were early in the season

The rain could be a factor, if the field is muddy it could slow down Graham some and play into Unions hands. But the field drains well and doesn't usually get too muddy.

I dont think there will be alot of mud but wet grass defiantly plays different/slower than turf.

On a side not union could just move the game to Riggs and play in the rocks/stinging neddles which would make the mud a sweet re-leaf LOL

That was the CLINCH Mountain district. Union, Central, Burton and Clintwood were the LPD in 2011 and 2012, the last year of the LPD.  In 2013, Abingdon, Lebanon and VA High went to the Southwest District , and Burton and Clintwood went to the Cumberland.

The MOUNTAIN district was formed in 2013 with Lee, GC, Union, Central and Battle. Ridgeview was added in 2015. Abingdon was added in 2017 and the district was renamed The Mountain 7.  I will agree that the Mountain 7 is not a renamed LPD. It was a new district formed from LPD and CMD leftovers. haha

Now if Burton and Eastside ever consolidate and join we can rename it Lonesome Mountain :)

central may be undersized up front but they play very low and are very fast off the snap. Ridgeview has some beef but in high school football I will take a quick lean 230 lb kid over a slower 280 any day of the week. With that being said Adkins is very good and RV has speed if they can get the ball there. #7 can flat out fly and reverse or end around to him and he can score from anywhere. The run D for RV is very good mostly because they load the box and play man though I am not sure what centrals passing attack looks like. If central can throw for more that Adkins rushes for they win

Centrals passing game is predominately play action if the RV DBs bite to hard on the run Central has the speed to get behind the D but there best hope is to get to the edge and away from RVs size advantage.

For central to win they need to continue doing what has worked for them all season utilize there team speed and try to wear down the Bigger front 7 of RV making them chase plays east and west (RV starters have not played many games for 4 qtrs I think a quick Central team could be a problem late in the game

BTW I personally think RVs Pass D has looked alot better the 2nd half of the season (with the notable exception of the Pikeville game) getting #2 back healthy in the secondary is big and I have to think that as the season winds down Adkins will start getting more time in the secondary where he has been outstanding in limited snaps.

  13. Interesting Facts Graham is 0-1 vs teams currently in VHSL Playoffs this season and 0-2 vs all schools on there schedule still in the playoff hunt

Union is 2-1 vs teams currently in the VHSL playoffs and 2-2 vs all schools on there schedule still in the playoff hunt

Great matchup in this one there is no doubt that Union is more battle tested coming into this one but the question is has that tough road galvanized them or worn them down?

On the other side Graham is coming into the game healthy and fresh will that allow them to out energy a Union team that has had to dig deep in all 4 qtrs in most of there games this season or will Graham struggle if there starters have to play a full 4 qtrs?

I think Graham with there quick strike capability will be tough to put away and Union if they can limit turnovers can control the clock and keep the ball out of Grahams hands.

IMHO while I think Union will put up a great fight I think Graham just has more weapons barring a monsoon that turns bullet park into a mud bowl that will be the difference in the game

CalPreps uses transitive property theory to calculate predictions that are over 90 percent accurate, purely on scores of all teams and opponents. Transitive Property when applied correctly, can be very accurate.

It should without a doubt go into the mix but lots of other stuff play a much larger role in any 1 particular game

We disagree. Let's leave it at that. I've seen Appo play, and I'm talking about Appo seeing wide open offenses more than SWVA teams. I wasn't referring to Appo's offense, but you didn't read through post.  Pikeville beat Paintsville 7-6. Paintsville probably should have lost to Union. Pikeville is fallable. Kentucky football at Pikeville level is not close to VA football at Pikeville level. A team that is familiar with Pikeville offense held them to 7 point, and Union nearly beat that team. If Appo and Pikeville played, Appo would be right there with em and to say Appo isn't on their level is flat out wrong in my opinion.

Transient property does not apply in most sports

The pantsville team that played union was missing several key players in that game. The ridgeview team that got smacked by pikeville was down a couple of key players. And ridgeview went toe to toe with them for a half...with the teams left in play anyone can knock off anyone there are no st Mary's of the blind left on anyone's schedule

Graham/Tazwell will be pretty lopsided too, but bc Marion is so bad I agree. This is the most one sided game.

Agreed Tazwell has only score 7 points vs teams with winning records this season (Understand that they were hit hard by the injury bug this year but that is still a tough number to overcome)

When Mullins let's him air it out, Ridgeviews QB Phillips is fantastic. Good enough arm and a great playmaker.

Lester is for sure up there, but he's still projecting as a WR or DB going forward. He's not the most natural QB.

Phillips is solid and was really starting to look good as the season pregeressed he should be back in the game this Friday and I hope he picks up where he left off vs Abingdon and he makes the Ridgeview hit another level

  18. Marion is 0-5 vs teams with winning records and has only scored more than 20 points 3 times on the season

Ridgeview is 3-2 vs teams with winning records but has not won a game vs one of those teams since Central way back in week 3

While Marion has only scored more than 20 in 3 games this season Ridgeview has score less than 30 only 2 times (Both Losses) If there is a bigger mismatch in the Whole AA playoff this season i do not see it

  19. Graham is 2-2 vs teams with winning records this season But has only faces 1 team with a winning record since the end of September but they have a convincing win over Tazwell in an early season game

Tazwell is 0-3 vs teams with winning records but has not seen a team with a winning record in the last 3 weeks

This is a good warm up for Graham who needs to knock the rust off as the games get tougher....Wish I had something positive for Tazwell but in there 3 games vs teams with winning records they have scored a TOTAL of 7 points. which could be the only state I need to see in this one

  20. Union is 3-2 vs Teams with winning records on the season and already has a win over GC on the season

GC is 1-5 vs Teams with a winning record  but finished the year up with a a strong 3-1 over the last month of the season.

Lets not kid anyone Union is the better team in this matchup BUT with both teams favoring long time consuming drives a team could end up only seeing the ball 5 or 6 times in the whole ballgame in a game like that turnovers and penaltys are magnified greatly. to win this one GC needs to not turn the ball over and hope Union continues to have 8-10 flags to kill there drives of ectent GCs

Richlands has proven year after year no matter what there record is in regular season, when it comes to playoffs they are very hard to handle . I think richlands will pull away after half and win by 3td . Warriors has taken a step forward in there program over the last couple years but when it comes to playing the top teams in 2a in playoffs dont see warriors able to beat a richlands team

Interesting fact for this season Richlands is 2-3 vs teams with winning records this season and have not beaten a team with more than 3 wins on the season since in over a month.

Central is 1-1 vs teams vs teams with winning records they are however did knock off GC at GC 2 weeks ago

IMHO Richlands has faced very sketchy competition the last 2 weeks of there season and may struggle to adjust to a better quality of team.

Central has seen better teams there last 2 games but no one that can prepare them for a passing attack that Richlands brings to the table. How quickly Central can adjust to what Richlands likes to do could be the difference in the game

Central? I'm going to go ahead and predict Richlands wins at Central in round 1 of the playoffs.

I think that could be a great game. Central really seems to have taken a big step forward the 2nd half of the season and honestly after last weeks showing vs Lebanon I am not sure Central should not be favorites that being said both still have a tuneup game this week going into the 2nd season
