I was surprised that Van Wieren was only 69. One of those guys who had been around for what felt like forever. He and Skip Caray filled many a childhood night for me. May he RIP.

By starting Thursday, teams are supposed to build in rest days into their preseason.  Graham may be bypassing that built in time.

A person doesent just choose administration, it takes a few years to get the credentials for the job. He probably decided he wanted to be a Principal while he was still in college getting his Bachelors degree. 
 
If it was a matter of "the well drying up" I think he would have taken the Abingdon or Battle HC jobs. 

Really is a big need for us down here in Lee.  EMS services racking up the fuel costs, and extending travel time to the nearest hospital for services and people.  I remember how much Wellmont claimed the hospital was not being used yet staff at Lonesome Pine said their emergency room visits number increased greatly shortly after the closure and most were coming from Lee, and that was from LPH alone, not including Harlan, Middlesboro, and etc.  When the county gave up control and we lost our "community hospital" things really changed and ultimately ended up for the worst.

Va Tech placed Steven at FUMA for a year.  That can only be a positive thing for this young man.  He will figure out what he needs to do from a football perspective.  He needs guidance and structure off the field.  
 
IMO, this is the best possible option for his future!

I went back and looked at your old list of closed or consolidated schools.  Brings back a ton of memories having played against many of them.  I remember an inbound play we were attempting to run against Drewrey Mason and some older man from the crowd hooked the bottom of my shorts with a wire coat hanger or something similar.  I inbounded the ball, began to run and tore the ass out of my shorts.

The Galax City Public School system just tweeted that Cross was released from the hospital.  Speculation on facebook is that he suffered a kidney bruise.
