Problem at Richlands is money. We started to see it rear its ugly head around the time that Mance was almost ready to leave and he would salvage a season or two out of it before he left. When Thad Wells came in, the higher ups wanted him out so bad it hurt. So, when he came across an opportunity to leave, he took it. I don't blame him if all the facts are correct, writing plays for a college program, D-1 at that, who wouldn't?

Then you get the debacle that has him "quitting" or "getting fired", on whichever side of the story that you believe, followed by the principals and everything after the fact. Then the ones that they brought up are fearful for their jobs so much so now that they have become yes men to whatever the school district wants. They are not going to fire Tarter. He has way too much tenure in the school and way too much tenure on that football staff to be let go for nothing on the football side of things. He would have to want to step down before they will take it out from under him, so yes, some of the blame can be put on Tarter for sticking around KNOWNING that he doesn't know the offensive and defensive side of the ball enough to be a head coach. However, if the school is not going to allow him to bring those folks in that can help, what can he do?

It is a true mess in the county and school, it truly is. I seen it coming with the way that villainized Thad Wells, even I fell into it without knowing all the facts, but as they say in Letterkenny, bad gas travels fast in a small town. But, this group, this is the poorest team I have seen in high school football, not just Richlands, in years. They are big, they have the talent, they just don't want to show it. However, the last thing you need is the coach going on the radio and blaming the kids instead of himself or his coaching staff on a loss. You want to lose more kids to Honaker, that is how you do it. Between the debacles with girls basketball, football, baseball field, bands, groups not getting funding promised... The whole high school should be ashamed. The good old boys club just ain't hacking it no more. Time to clean house, both at the high school, the town, and everything and start fresh.

No one ejected, game just ended. I’m all in for GMen but Graham player clearly responsible for the incident for shoving Tazewell player for no good reason that I could see. Lack of self discipline! Embarrassing… 

Tom Rife has probably forgotten more about basketball than you or anyone else on this board currently knows and he can stIll out coach all you keyboard warriors. His assistants are more than capable, they both have an abundance of knowledge. They are lucky that he stepped up after the shitshow Aaron Lowe created. 
 
Also, trashing the coach is very much downing the players and serves no purpose unless you have an ax to grind due to the coaching changes. Aaron Lowe ain’t coming back, so the best thing you can do is throw your opinionated support behind the girls. 

Whoever LWC is, is obviously still salty over the Aaron Lowe firing. No one else has any reason whatsoever to go online and diminish the girls basketball team. 
 
Just hard to tell who it is though, he definitely has a big, loyal following that is willing to do his shit talking. It’s a real shame, he needs to move on. You know, move on. They are doing just fine without him. 

Every game so far, every opponent has been running out of breath while we're still full court pressing so, I'm not sure why you would say their out of shape. These girls work their buts off, so don't take away from them because your trying down someone else.

Richlands boy's aren't even a Top 20 basketball team in Tazewell County. 
I'd put them around 25th behind the Boissevain Volunteer Fire Department and the Frog Level Drunk Dribblers. 

Bluefield's Caleb Fuller hits 2 long buzzer beaters in the same game. After being down 17 to Greenbrier East in the 3rd Quarter Bluefield came all the way back but with 1 second left and down 3 points and having to in bounds under the opponent's basket it did not look good. But Caleb Fuller took the in bounds, spun and shot from 3 quarter court and tied the game and sent it to OT. Bluefield was up 3 but GE hit a 3 with 5 seconds. With the clock running Bluefield in bounded the ball to Fuller who ran to mid court, released another bomb and it went in again for the win.  Video link below.

No offense but VA High is not very good upfront. If Blues hang on, I’m sure there are a lot of people who aren’t really shocked.  Sometimes a weak schedule catches up to you.

No offense, but having watched him on several occasions, I get the impression he doesn't like to get tackled/hit so that might explain not running when he had the opportunity. I could totally be misreading the situation and possibly the coach has told him not to run. Either way, he's got potential to be a lot better and other options with his size.

They better be working with some other kids at the QB position.... the Cox kid just don't have what it takes to be a QB.

I am a Richlands fan but even I think this is funny coming from a graham fan. Graham won a state championship in 2018 with a Tazewell kid playing quarterback, Bluefield kids ag running back and wide receiver & an all state linebacker that came from Princeton. Play with your own kids and see if tazewell would be little brother every year then 😂😂

So, wait...the unbeatable team, the team that would beat everyone by 20+ points this season, the best team in SWVA, lost last night by double digits???  Had to be some bad officiating that caused that to happen...

They are no different than most other school that reach the State level playoffs..everyone has a transfer or two.  So don't go knocking on your neighbor's door, until you clean up your own backyard...

Well I got screwed at work and won't be getting to watch either game....No matter where its played. Would like to see both GC and Richlands win though. Might have to have the croop come Saturday and make myself present for the game if they both win.

Congrats to Richlands on the win tonight and getting that huge regional monkey off your back.
