ghos88t
While a lot of teams have finished their regular season, there several games left which could cause some majoring shifting in playoff seeds. THE BIGGEST GAME. (Road Trip Game) #1 2A West Appomattox at #3 4A West Amherst Last week Appomattox destroyed Chatham 81-8, while Amherst beat then #1 3A West Rustburg 49-21. An Appomattox lost, a Graham win, might be enough to push Graham into the #1 seed. I can see THE G-MAN a smiling. Union at John Battle A Union win might push them past Richlands. Don't get upset Big Blue, this could be a good thing to happen if Appomattox is the #2 seed. Lee at VA High A Lee win could push them past Grundy, sending Grundy (hello weak schedule) to Martinsville. OUCH!!!! 2A. 12-16 seeds Likely to be some shifting. All hoping to avoid the trip to Appomattox. Long shots Tazewell and VA High Wins plus other teams ahead of them losing plus bonus points plus a little luck could equal a playoff seed. Hurley-Twin Valley and George Wythe-Rural Retreat Hurley and GW are big favorites to win. However, this one for the #2 seed will come down to Bonus Points from past wins. Edge to GW. Ft Chiswell-Bland and Chilhowie-Holston Ft. Chiswell and Chilhowiie are the favorites to win. Ft. Chiswell will probably pass Chilhowie. Twin Valley, Castlewood, Covington, Rural Retreat, Twin Springs L. Idle. W? L. W Remember that old George Jones song The Race is On, will the race is wild here. Castlewood will pass Twin Valley, if Covington beat 2A James River, they could pass Twin Valley and maybe Castlewood, A Twin Springs win over Rye Cove just might be enough to pass Rural Retreat. Who knows, Covington loses to James River, Rural Retreat may out bonus point them. These 5 are just to many ands, buts, what's, ifs, teens. Just to wild and crazy like the bottom seeds are every year. REMEMBER all of this depends on wins, lost, bonus points.
swva_havok_fan
Long shots Tazewell and VA High Wins plus other teams ahead of them losing plus bonus points plus a little luck could equal a playoff seed. Nah not really... it's quite simple for both of them. Tazewell beats Lebanon and they're in, cut and dry. Virginia High wins and James River loses and the Bearcats go dancing. BlackWolf5
If Appox loses and Graham, Union win where do Richlands fall to?
Ryan4VT
If Appox loses and Graham, Union win where do Richlands fall to? Too hard to tell right now. Likely come to a tiebreak scenario. And none of the top tiebreaks work for Richlands and Appo. Could come down to drawing a name from a hat.
Hokies4Ever
Well Union can't catch Richlands. Because if Union wins that gives Richlands enough rider points to be over Unions max point output. cityofRaven
mv91
Based on Helpers cheat sheet, If Dan River wins and gets max rider points and Richlands gets max rider points Dan River would outpoint them by 1 point. that would drop Richlands to 4. That is unless Appo loses. Then that opens up a whole new can of scenarios that I know the G-Men faithful would love to see happen. :)
SWVAgridiron
I just want Graham to have the max home games as possible. I don't really see Giles making it past the 2nd round so hopefully I'll only have to travel to Bluefield for the 3rd and 4th round games Mountain Football

ghos88t
There was a reason that I wrote that last sentence. Some of the shifting for seeds are nothing more than long shots and a luck of the dr aw. Strange things can happen. Example: What if some team had to forfeit some games or all? Might be before your time Leatherhead, but some of us older fans can recall what happen to Chilhowie several years ago.
swva_havok_fan
Sure, seeds can shuffle this final week, but the top 14 in 2A West are safe, leaving two open spots. The 15 will go to the winner of Tazewell/Lebanon and the 16 could go to either James River, Virginia High, Wise Central, Gretna or Ridgeview. The top 15 are pretty safe in 1A West with one open spot left. That spot should be between Bland and Honaker. Honaker would steal it with a win over Ridgeview and a Bland loss. VHSLhelper
Union at John Battle A Union win might push them past Richlands. Explain how, please. Ryan4VT and mv91

VHSLhelper
Union CAN move up from a 5 if Graham or Dan River loses,, but can't pass Richlands
Leatherhead Larry
Explain how, please. He don't know how. He didn't do his homework in the first place. If he did, he would've known they can't jump the Blues. Ryan4VT
VHSLhelper
An Appomattox lost, a Graham win, might be enough to push Graham into the #1 seed. I see that now
ghos88t
To VHSL Helper and Leatherhead Larry, Richlands can pick up a possible 6 or 8 bonus points from previous defeated opponents. Union can pick up a possible 8 bonus points from previous defeated opponents. Union beats John Battle, 18 points for defeating an 2A team, 2 bonus pts x 5 wins = 10 points. Richlands 6 or 8 bonus points. Union 18 pts + 10 pts = 28 points + possible 8 bonus pts = 36 points The difference might be enough, unless I added wrong. By the way, Union is #4 in 2A West not #5. VHSLhelper
Grundy's weak schedule. ROTFLMAO. They'll be on the road because the D got an F last Friday night. pigskincleat and big ugly vol

Deleted Account
I dunno - DR's got a good chance to lose vs Alta. There is next to no chance of this happening. The real shock would be if this game were within 20 points. swva_havok_fan
VHSLhelper
In 2008, there was basically no chance a 4-5 Tunstall team would win at 6-2 Patrick Co. Played 47.8 minutes, was down by a TD and PC was about to put the nail in the Halloween coffin. Rem. what happened? There's an upset or two on the last week every year, usually by a "top" team. I think this could be the game this year.
VHSLhelper
Grundy has a weak schedule other than Richlands and Hurley the rest of the teams are weak. Not talking playoff run, but seeding. Compared to teams we're battling with, it doesn't look weak to me. Hurley is another story.... games won by opponents for 2 bonus points, for 1 & total 22 20 42 - Grundy (38 per 9 games) 16 22 38 - Martinsville 24 10 34 - Glenvar 22 22 44 - Giles 21 12 33 - Marion Like I said, we're on the road because of our D - 2 guys can't cover trips to one side. It REALLY doesn't take a math person to figure THAT one out.
