Gridiron60 2,555 Report Share Posted December 4, 2022 Big, strong, & physical is what everyone is saying about Central Woodstock but not speedy. Power run team! Could be the best line Graham faced and vice versa. Can Graham get the hardware? Graham32
IRISH-FAN18 323 Report Share Posted December 4, 2022 You know what, I'm going with the G-Men here. I think this game plays out just like the Appo game did today. Like to see this Graham team at least get that undefeated record to go with this State Championship! Graham32
nrv_football 81 Report Share Posted December 4, 2022 I'm taking Graham in this one. I think they are 2 touchdowns better easily if they don't turn it over or have a ton of penalties.
Real Sasquatch 1,868 Report Share Posted December 4, 2022 Graham will have to limit the penalties that bring back big plays. Central is the type of team that can control possession and play keep away and then end up scoring on their possessions. Central has a big, strong line that has been pushing around their opponents. They also return 20 of 22 starters and have 23 seniors on their team. They have a fullback that is like a bowling ball when he runs the ball and he lead blocks for a running back that hits the hole hard every time he carries the ball. They are well-coached, play very disciplined football and don't make a lot of mistakes. They are the type of team that will wear you down over the course of the game with their physical play. Defensively, they are very stout and are athletic at the linebacker and db positions. They don't have a ton of team speed, but they have enough. They stop their opponents at the line of scrimmage and get pressure on the QB in passing situations. Do I think Graham can win? Yes. Do I think Central can win? Yes. Graham will have to play smart, play hard and everybody has to be on their A game, that includes coaches and players. Clements will be the x - factor. If he is contained, it will be hard, but not impossible for Graham to win this game.

tornado99 345 Report Share Posted December 4, 2022 I haven’t seen Central, but the G-men have both speed and power. It will be close, but unless they have a D-1 athlete capable of taking over the game as KW last year, I’m going with the G-men. As Sasquatch pointed out, Clements is the x-factor and likely the difference in this game.
Gridiron60 2,555 Author Report Share Posted December 4, 2022 CW has a kicker with some leg power from looking at some film. Graham will most likely get it on the 20 every time. He can boot it through the uprights from 40-50 yards. The thing about field goals is it takes at least two for every TD to keep game in check and three to overcome an opponent who can score TDs consistently. Their offense is pretty simple compared to Appomattox who does a lot of different stuff, nothing really fancy. It’s going to come down to the LOS and which team can hold the line on D and make some holes on O. In my opinion if Graham can spread out their line and/or get to the outside or throw in space, the GMen have a good chance to win. They have some decently fast kids but not the speedsters that Graham does. It’s their first appearance so they’ll come in hungry for a win but so will the GMen. Both lost to KW last year! It should be a helluva game. Go GMen!!! Graham32

CPF 411 Report Share Posted December 4, 2022 Just like Appomattox vs Radford......one team hopes to win. The other expects to. We've been here with both results. Lasts years pain fuels this team. Graham by 10+. BandanaVTDavis4321
BBHoops_18 206 Report Share Posted December 4, 2022 Watched some hudl clips Woodstock. A lot of the teams they play don't seem to be very good at all. Seen a lot of people saying their line is big but they don't seem any bigger than the average linemen you'd see on most 2A schools. There was one guy maybe who seemed a little bigger than the rest. Not sure if they have the speed to match up with Graham. Graham has everyone healthy this time around and they won't want to lose again. Graham by 20. I wondered if strength of teams played might be a factor. Granted Graham played some teams that were weak but they also played several that were not weak opponents. Graham has been battle tested & they’ve been on this stage before, CW hasn’t. Could be a factor???

Faithful G-man 17 Report Share Posted December 5, 2022 The way I see it is that if graham goes 50/50 on the line of scrimmage on both sides, they win this game. With what information I have, Central May match graham in power, but Graham has speed and a D1 athlete in the backfield. I still think a close, low scoring game, but it’s graham’s game to lose. Still a good chance of the gmen losing by committing penalties or turnovers Real Sasquatch
BandanaVTDavis4321 1,717 Report Share Posted December 5, 2022 Harrisonburg It looks like Graham should win. Graham looks to be at least as strong up front and more athletic. The measurables favor Graham. History and being their and doing that favors Graham. The eye test favors Graham. The only concern is what we can't know until they play, and that is..."good football players." Grahams got em, but Central might have a lot of em too. The Graham of 89 was like this. Not blazing fast, but quick, physical, not super athletic, but just 22 solid football players at starting positions with leaders all over the field. That Graham of 89 beat a Southampton team with 2 future NFL players. This is the only part that is hard to know for Central until the game is played. Central has tons of seniors and may have just 22 solid football players at the starting positions. Fans can't be over confident because I remember a heavily favored Graham team against Harrisburg just over 20 years ago (2001), and Harrisonburg had seniors everywhere, was loaded with just good football players, and played as a team, always in position, and seemed to get every bounce and every break. They did have Akeem Jordan who played at JMU, but Graham smashed Liberty the week before and was explosively athletic, and Harrisonburg fans in the parking lot talked about "just trying to keep it close." Few thought Harrisonburg would win. Did you know that This poster set and watched that game at Liberty with Tony Palmer and a few other Graham guys back on the Saturday 21 years ago? Ahmad was a sophomore on that team. I betcha a gazillion Tony will not and has not forgotten Graham being favored and losing that game to a 7-3 Harrisonburg (regular season) and I'm sure Ahmad (who still helps out with Graham) hasn't forgotten. Graham is going to be very well dialed in, prepared, and laser focused. Graham's going to win the 2022 state Class 2 title on Saturday in my opinion, but I'm certain the older Graham fans of my age are going into this without cockiness or overconfidence. The experience Ahmad went through on that day and Tony Palmer watching in the stands will serve Graham well 20 plus years later because Tony will be sure they don't come in and just go through the motions. They'll be dialed in, and Tony won't let a somewhat similar Shenandoah Valley team pull that off again. Westisthebest 88 Report Share Posted December 5, 2022 Ive seen some posters say Central doesn't have speed. They look plenty speedy to me and very balanced. But those are just highlights. Ive read this is basically the same team that gave KW a fight last year. QB looks really nice. Im gonna say close for a half.
