Grundy ran the ball well on Tazewell, but they run the ball very well and it's hard to get to the RB with all of the guys blocking.  It seemed like the whole team was blocking for the RB at times.  V-High has a good running game, but the running plays are more of the traditional type of running plays.  I think Tazewell's defense will fare a little better against V-High.   This is Tazewell's Homecoming and they will be motivated to win.  I'm going with the Dogs by 10 to 14.

Did anyone notice that Tazewell had its two starting linebackers out against Grundy? I know we think the next guy can step up, but that isnt always the case, especially against a good running team like Grundy. I think both of those linebackers will be back against V-High, and should be better able to handle a more spread running team.

Let's hope that a stable LB group and confident line come to play tonight.

This is one of the matchups for SWD runners-up that I’m really interested in currently. I still stand by my post currently that Lebanon, Tazewell, and Virginia High are toss-ups, but still giving Lebanon the slight edge of the 3 by being able to run and pass. That said, I take the Bulldogs in a close one.

I admit, I was definitely wrong. I change my order to VH>Lebanon>Tazewell.  It’s really hard to get a feel for Lebanon so far. They have beaten what’s in front of them, but no one really on their level, Class 1 and weak Class 2 schools.

If tazewell plays like they did tonight, Lebanon will beat the breaks off tazewell.

Taz got outplayed and outcoached.

That is true. Outcoach is key word. Keyshawn is mvp of this game. His speed is something else. Congrats to va high.

Keshawn Smith tonight:

7 receptions, 204 yds, 2 TDs

7 carries, 74 yds, 1 TD

Virginia High is not a bad team.  I’ve said this a few times here since the game with RV.  They are perfectly capable of pulling an upset if they get the right opponent come playoff time.

VA High gave Graham all they wanted. Not only do they win, I don’t see it being close at all. Bearcats by at least 21

🤷‍♂️

I say this with all due respect. I don’t know why people think Tazewell is good/decent. They barely win the games they should and when they play teams that have an ounce of talent, they get blown out of the water.

Perfectly  said! If Virginia High plays like they did tonight the rest of the season, they will be a tough out come playoffs.

Bearcats 45

Bulldogs 7

Final

Im still going to go out on a limb and say Virginia High beats Lebanon by 1 to 2 tds. If Virginia High is healthy with Slagle roaming on D, they may slow the explosive Pioneers down. I think Virginia Highs secondaryis skilled and athletic enough to do it. I don't think Lebanon will be able to handle the Bearcats speed if they play offense like they did tonight. It will be a good game for sure.

I've not seen Tazewell play, but they do seem to get hyped up a lot on here. Virginia High seems to be a solid ball club.

Was Virginia High at full strength when playing Ridgeview, PH, and Graham? Not seeing them play, the absence and additions of Smith and Slagle definitely changes my opinion. If that was the missing ingredient, I too take VH over everyone not named Graham and Union.

Unfortunately you’re right.

Radford outplayed VIrginia High and Radford wasn't full strength.

Yes they were at full strength against Graham, Graham knocked their receiver out of the game in first half.. They did stand toe to toe against Graham until halftime Graham had a load of self-inflicted penalties but they did play tough. . As stated earlier, Grahams speed, strength and size took over the second 1/2.

Logan Slagle was out versus Graham, Radford and Ridgeview. Va High is a solid team but Graham and Union would beat va high 10 out of 10 and Ridgeview would beat Va High 8 out of 10. Va High is just undersized

I remember many many years ago when the Dogs came on the field, you were in a dam$ fistfight. From the early 60s to 1990, that bunch you would not out tough. You may beat em, but not our tough em. Emotion was sky high and they would beat their helmets, pop pads, and just come ready to play and they were like that for a good 30 years. I just don't see it at Tazewell. Just no emotion, but going through the motions. Coach Ragsdale would have us literally believing we could run through a brick wall and it wouldn't be 5 plays of emotion it would be 4 quarters. I know guys like Colobro, Turner, Robbins, Lindberg, Harry Fry, Cummins, Dave Rider were all the same. Where have these coaches gone? Even high IQ coaches (that win and are darn good) just seem to play it "too cool." I want to see some more dam$ hotheads putting his foot up kids arses!
