Things take time, especially with a new coach. When Ragsdale took over Giles in 1978 I'm pretty sure he went 1-9 then maybe 3-7 the year after that. But in 1980 Ragsdale still stuck with the single-wing and got Giles their first state title which then led to two more state titles. In 2009 Williams took over Giles. Went 6-5 his first season, 5-5 his next then went 5 years with only losing 5 games and got Giles their 4th title. Things take time, not many coaches get a team to 15-0 their first season. Giles is one of the smaller 2A schools with enrollment of under 530 I believe. And we only average around 30-35 players a year. Stop firing coaches after having a couple of bad seasons. Success takes time.

They do play Union Friday night. An announcer mentioned to Coach Mance on his post-game interview about the Blacksburg/Giles game. His response "I am thinking about Union next week." Sums it up nicely.

Actually Grant can run and run very well, he just had all night to throw the football and didn't have to run. He had 1 rush for 7 yards. Ask your friends from Glenvar how he ran against them. As for receivers lets mention Cole Epperly , Hudson, Babcock , Stranaland, and VanGilder. The Burg had 8 kids with catches Friday night. And that's without any passes to Beck.

That just shows how many weapons they have

80's they were a powerhouse and even before then they were good. Things changed about mid 90's then had flashes of a few good years. It's not been until the last 8 really that things went bad.

I agree, Richlands special teams are dangerous. I think Richlands offense has multiple weapons, and with the front seven on Defense I predict Richlands by 10.

I can attest to how dangerous the Richlands return game is. Their athletes are capable of taking a kick to the house at any time.

Both teams can throw the ball all over the field and have several good to great WR's and QB's with great arms so it's going to come down to which team makes one more stop than the other, and I like the Blues chances on that. SWVA_FootballFan worries about whether Richlands has enough players to cover the Falcons receivers, that is a good question, but one that is equally good is whether the Falcons will have enough players to cover all the Richlands receivers, so, both teams are going to move the ball and score and it will come down to which D makes a stop and I think the Blues D is the better D right now and all they have to do is make 1 more stop than the falcons do and I think they will. I like the chances of our front 7 putting pressure on the falcons excellent QB and allowing us to make that ONE more stop that we need to win the game ! Plus, having Howie and Atkinson to return kicks is a plus as either one can bust a punt ( probably wont be many of those ) or a kickoff ( probably will be a lot of those ) for a score or at least give good field position ! This is going to be a playoff type of atmosphere and a high scoring game........fun, fun fun.......can't wait to watch it !

I'm not sure that we can hang with Richlands, but I'm curious how we will do against a team like them.
