It was mentioned on the news about dropping nukes on hurricanes  to disperse them, scientists say it's  impossible,  but now we know for a fact, a big blue cannon ball, can disperse  a tornado.  Lol.

Buddy i know everyone probably thinks your crazy the way you've been talking about Battle but as a Union fan I'm with u they really do have a chance to be the sleeper in the district.  I'm not saying their gonna win but they're gonna surprise some teams.

Prior to Steve Wright's hiring in 2011, Battle had 7 seasons above .500 and 2 playoff appearances in the entire history of the school. Not every school has a Gate City, Union, or Graham pedigree that can just get focused and accomplish something great. Battle genuinely has had to build from scratch and the fact that they have been consistently competitive is a good sign that Stone's staff had the program trending in an upward direction.

I don't know a thing about M7 soccer but Galax returns almost everyone from last season's state championship team.  Galax will be going after a third consecutive state championship and state title #5  in 6 years.

I will put no such money on a high school game lol. Especially when that could potentially knock me out if our anniversary trip this spring.

Never ends with Central. Nobody in Wise has the guts to stop it. Embarrassing for the entire area, shame. I have the upmost respect for the other programs at the school. Boys basketball is just a mess and it will never end. I can only hope injuries are avoided for the kids involved. 

I agree. I have no issue with the kids, it’s the coach. Sad situation that won’t end. Why don’t the parents or supporters raise enough stink to force a change?

That's the truth. Kids do what coaches tell them to. You want this mess to stop,get rid of the coach. That will not happen in Wise though. Heck the football place carries his daddy's name. Folks up there would rather be loathed and or embarrassed than care about the reputation of the school or good kids. You would have thought changes would have come when they were no longer allowed anymore to play the team that should have been their biggest rival (Burton) It's really rather sad IMO. Please do not judge these kids by their coach. That would be like judging a class act like Robin Dotson by the redneck fans there (and there's rednecks everywhere,but EVERYBODY hates Central and that's not the case with other schools).

The kids on the Central basketball team all are pretty good kids, I know most of them pretty good and have been watching them play since they were in elementary school, so don't let the actions of a COACH ruin it for the kids!

Consolation is Union vs. Battle at 6:00, Championship is Gate City vs. Central afterward.

I seen 6 for the consolation game and 730 for the championship game!

I was looking forward to watching him again this year. I hate to see this happen to anyone. Prayers for a healthy and speedy recovery.

That's just plain awful. I was really hoping he could finish his Senior season. I did get to see him play twice this past weekend at Sullivan East & he looked good. I wish him the best moving forward... Keep your head up young man.

Unfortunate situation for this kid. Torn ACL, second year in a row for the Bears starting center! I want to wish Wes the best of luck in whatever he chooses to do and for a quick and speedy recovery!! I hate to see any kid, from any team injured!

I think most of it comes down to coaches “promoting” a player. I know for the VHSCA game, a coach completes a nomination form weeks in advance for a player to be considered. It not only includes football but academics, extra curriculars etc. For the FCA game, I’m not 100% but I believe players are selected by the organizers of the game and I’m not sure if there’s a nomination process.

Carter had 21 and Strong had 20.  It was a tough game throughout.  Abingdon led most of the way but lost Hungate before halftime to injury.  He had 20 pts at that point.  Northwood played very physical and hit big shots when needed.  Abingdon didn't shoot well from the perimeter and didn't hit their free throws allowing Northwood to get the lead late.  In my opinion, if Abingdon had shot 30%+ from the arc and 75% from free throw line in this game they win by double digits. 
If Northwood can control a couple kid's attitudes and stop their parents from trying to control the coach they can do big things this season.  But, knowing the people involved, I would not be surprised to see this team implode by mid season.
Abingdon will need their seniors to play better and 1-2 more kids to step up and contribute for them to compete in the top half of the M7.

Central thumped Honaker last night in a benefit game. The Warriors can score, are aggressive, improved inside and are tenacious when it comes to rebounding. Throw in a superb fan base that's always behind the team win or lose and a veteran coach and this team will contend. Don't sleep on them yet.
