My top five: Thomas Jones, Jake Houseright, Ahmad Bradshaw, Chad Beasley, Travis Turner. This is such a disservice to all the quality players we have seen through the years. We should start a Message Board Hall of  Fame, Nominate 10 or so players a year and let everyone vote and present evidence on why they are HOF worthy and vote put three of four a year in. That would be kind of fun, threads like this are awesome let's have it mean something.

Man how blessed has our little corner of the football world been, during most of our lifetimes, we have seen so many great players who have gone all the way to the top. Prep all stars, college stars and Super Bowl winning players from little ole S.W Va. Our talent and population may be dwindling but we have been heard from far and wide in the football world. Long live S.W. Va. Football and long live the memories we all have.

I have a friend who officiates in Kentucky and he threw a coach out of the game and the coach was on his front porch waiting for him when he got home, words were exchanged, officers were called and ejected coach became arrested coach, who became a suspended coach. and now the irony of it all is the coach is the choir leader at the official's church and the official is the pastor!

Got two interjections
I am a coach and I sent a clear message at the beginning of the season. No one is to acknowledge another teams players or coaching staff. If this happen, it's immediate dismissal. It has worked well so far.
 
If a player is at an any game, they are under the direct supervisor of the school's officials (coach) and can not leave their supervision until after the game or are released to a guardian. Therefore as a coach you must decide where is an appropriate place to supervise this individual. Wrong or right? I do not know but, this my rationale to form a educated assumption.
 
I wish Richlands a safe trip and hope this individual is forgiven for his mistake.

Good luck again from Northeast Tennessee, I can wish you well and I am not jealous at all, my rooting interest has five titles in football and 24 in total.

If I'm a senior and not allowed to play in a state championship game, watching my team from the sidelines knowing that I couldn't get into the game would be punishment enough.

If you do the crime, you gotta do the time! I hate it for the kid and teammates but you had two chances not to do it and after the first chance someone should have been in his face telling him about it, and I am sure Richlands players and coaches were (this is not typical Richlands behavior) but you had two shots at behaving or not and the player chose the latter course of behavior, it happened to our football playing son once and it never happened again.

Jake was the best overall football player I've watched in my lifetime as far as high school. Mainly for standing out on both sides of the ball and he probably didn't sit out 3-5 plays per game. Best running back I've watched would be Thomas Jones and I seriously doubt that'll ever change.
 
That '96 team was very solid. Lost a heartbreaker at Brookville in a quagmire. A couple of writers said that year that the only team that could possibly beat them was Tech but that definitely wasn't the case. Brookville had 2 plays that worked the whole game and it beat us. I want to say the TE was Lomax from Brookville but after so many years, these things run together.
 
Appalachia had a lot of great players also. Travis Turner and Travis Clark were fun to watch. At the time, Turner was probably the best QB I had seen. I watched the Appy busses pull in at Legion Field one night 10 minutes before kickoff. They walked on the field, punched us in the mouth, and left.

That's a pretty solid schedule, no real give me's except for maybe Lebanon. As long as they have decent depth they should be very good.

One of those years, GC "held" Thomas Jones to 89 yards in the first half. He finished with 300+....and that was with a good defense.

This game is Southwest Virginia Football Royalty. I would love to see Graham win, not because I dislike Richlands in any way, but because of how far down Graham was and how they have built themselves back to contention. I am hoping that my team can follow this path (Gate City) to redemption and become Graham next year or very soon. I wish both teams the best, but I favor Richlands only because of experience. Blues win a squeaker.

I love the VHSL Reference Site, you can literally spend hours there researching things. I wish his data went back farther but It is a neat place. I think that the predictions are spot on except for Galax.

Hey Union fans just want to extend an apology to you for not believing in you ( I was right for 98.7% of the game) but I was still wrong in the end. Good Luck against Appomattox.
