Those kids (my own included) work their ass off and could care less about some blow hard hiding behind a keyboard talking about whatever glory days they may try to live in. If you come to a message board to get your opinion validated or ego stroked you may need a new hobby.

Some on here know but some don’t, that Aaron is one half of the reason I am “Bearcat Dad”.
I wanted to thank everyone who reached out tonight about Aaron. For those who don’t know, Aaron received a pretty severe concussion tonight in the game against Graham. There have been conflicting reports on how exactly it happened, but we do know it happened at some point during his 60 yard run on the third play of the game.
On the run, there was a pretty violent collision between he and his friend Cam Allen. Aaron went back a few steps, and Cam went down as Aaron kept running. Some of Aaron’s teammates told our trainer that they saw Aaron’s head hit the ground hard when he was caught from behind. I will know more when we get to see the film.
After 15 minutes, he still could not form a complete sentence so our trainer had his mother and I take him to the ER. They diagnosed him with the concussion and have turned him over to our team doctor to make his assessment on what Aaron’s standing is for the remainder of his season.

You are part of the problem in Gate City, Va. constantly out here making up excuses about coaching and how Akers and his staff are a cancer. 
The. Talent. Is. Not. There. 
Those kids bust their tails, and so do the coaches, to try and get a win on Friday nights. They don’t give up, which is more than you can say. You’ve given up on your team and town. 
EH31 is trying to make a point to you, and all you’ve done is make more excuses, and now came at him with a 12 year old’s version of a keyboard warrior threat. 
Wake up and see that there are about 10 circumstances that have led GC to what it is right now. 
Mac McClung is 100% near the top of that list. He made basketball cooler than football. Kids want to be Mac. There’s the issue with your little league. They don’t want to play football anymore because McClung make GC great at basketball. 
If you feel like you have all the answers, and you talk on here enough like you think you do, then go fix the problem. Volunteer to coach at any level. Go talk to school board members if you feel that strongly that you have a case. 
Otherwise, just shut up and stop spewing crap everywhere for anyone who will take the time to read on here. 
The world doesn’t revolve around Gate City football, man. It’s so much bigger than that.

I am biased since I am from there but I would go with the West Virginia Mountaineers!!!  Exciting offense!!  Plays in a good conference!!  Great QB, especially this year and an early Heisman hopeful in Will Grier!!  Defense not too shabby either!!

Sure thing.  Here’s my short pitch:
 
Being a Virginia fan is more than about following an athletic team.  It’s about embracing the culture.  It’s a culture that values the student-athlete, with each side of that hyphen meaning just as much as the other.  Virginia does not tolerate criminal activity or those who reflect poorly on the program.  Mike London might have been a poor football coach, but he did well at training men who are solid members of the community.  In many places, that would lead to borderline riot.  At Virginia, though we demand better performance, we respect the work he did in those players’ lives.  Bronco Mendenhall turns boys into men in a similar fashion (with greater coaching acumen).  Our fans may not outnumber fans from larger state schools (such as the one nearest us), but they are devoted, dedicated, and more realistic than most others.
 
As far as football, we are 3 years into a 5-year rebuild.  Mendenhall’s OC is Robert Anae, who runs an offense with Mike Leach “air raid” principles.  Problem is, our OL hasn’t been able to hold the blocks to execute it regularly.  When it does, you get this:
And now, we have speedy JUCO transfer Bryce Perkins behind center to execute some option styles (with an improved OL).  Interesting and exciting times ahead.
 
On defense, Mendenhall runs 3-4 and 3-3-5 bases with exotic blitzes.  UVA’s Pass D was 7th in the country last year.  However, the DL was 2-3 years away from being as he wants, so the Rush D was 101st.  The back 7 is promising this year, and is one of the best in the ACC.  The DL is equally as porous as last year, that is, should Ohio State transfer Dylan Thompson not be as advertised.

It's always funny when I see posts like this. No offense man, and what I'm getting ready to say, is not directed towards you personally, but this part of your post is part of a funny way so many fans make an argument for their respective team.
Take a team like Union. Without a doubt, a perennial powerhouse in 2A SWVA. Now, when they cross the state line for a "scrimmage" against an even stronger football program, like Elizabethton, when Union plays them close, it's because "Union is just that damn good"(not your quote, one I read on here last year). Now, let's take VHS, the poster boy for football mediocrity, in 2A SWVA for over a CENTURY, goes to Union last year, and plays closer than anyone outside of Bristol could have imagined. Then, last night, actually proves to anyone in attendance, that they can play with anyone in the region this year. Some fans(again, I'm not referring to you, just some other fans) say "Well, Union called a vanilla offense", or "I heard that half of the team is recovering from a stomach virus"(yes, I've read that very excuse on this site). I wonder why that is.
The fact remains, football teams from NETN generally give teams from SWVA beatdowns for a reason that has been stated a couple of times on this thread, because of enrollment. The same reason, that the mighty Appomattox football team of the last 3 years, could go east towards a school like Oscar Smith or Westfield, or go west to most any school in the Knoxville area, and get their asses handed to them, 10 times out of 10. 
It's a big deal nowadays when any SWVA school has a football player, play at the next level. Schools like Science Hill, DB, or most 5 and 6A schools from Knoxville to the Tri-Cities have players move on to the next level EVERY YEAR.
Man, I'm not trying to disrespect Union, or any other SWVA school. I would ALWAYS pull for VA over TN. I have no.doubt in my mind, that I can name at least 10 schools between here and Knoxville, who would beat the brakes off of every team in SWVA 2A, or even 3A for that matter.
Maybe our great research guru, @Bluefield researcher, could help us out, and see if he could find an overall record of NETN vs. SWVA over, say, the last 30 years. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first one on here to say so, but I don't believe I am.
EDIT: It's like when someone says "Alabama could beat the Cleveland Browns". That drives me up a damn wall. The worst team in the NFL would beat Alabama by however many points they wanted to. Its just a different level of football.
