Home run and a half. This is a bigger hire than Lee should have ever been able to pull in on paper. He had the most consistent success at Marion that any coach had since the mid-70s, and you can see how well they've done without him. In two years, he appeared to have turned around Person despite being a high enrollment school playing one of the toughest schedules in NC. I don't know how many district titles they'll be pulling in, but I would be very surprised if Lee stayed a bottom dweller in the M7 under Carroll's watch.

having once saw a young athlete become paralyzed from lowering his head on a hit, it's scary as hell at times watching your kid during a collision. you always hope you're kids aren't on the receiving end of a big hit but at the same time like to see big hits when they get up and go back to the huddle ok. the number of bad injuries compared to the number of plays during a career is low but it's always on the horizon. it's not hard to tell when a kid has been taught correctly/incorrectly and unfortunately you still see it at the college level and professional level every day. the game speed has increased along with size, speed, strength, and raw ability at all levels compared to just 20 years ago. the game isn't meant to be played passive so injuries are always going to happen. good luck to all those brave enough to still strap on a helmet and play.

Smart play would be to beg coach martin to come back, increase in productivity, while young adams serve apprentice under him say 4-5 years, then maybe give him a shot.

reading the paper was the only way to keep up with other teams/individuals other than the news, if you got home in time on a Friday or you just set the vcr to record it. internet and social media have taken away from the suspense of reading the next paper.

It could be worse, ever watch loudmouth on ESPN? At least it's local and partly in fun, if some of you actually knew these guys you'd be surprised how much they're rooting for region D no matter what. They're stating opinions based on their experiences, knowledge, and bias. Yes bias, we all lean towards our alliances but there's no harm intended or done. Enjoy the game, and for the record crigger has a beautiful voice. Would have been better if the old guy played spoons and tester on bass. My autocorrect tried to spell chigger, makes sense lol.

that doesn't seem too fair. I've saw film (u-tube) from appo side with electronic siren blaring before, during, and after plays. works for one should work for all, just saying. personally, I say bring all the noise makers in the world to create the loudest game ever, each week. players and TRUE fans of a great game will always appreciate it.
I see a lot of u-tube how to build horn tutorials throughout this crowd in the near future, say august 21.

If anything it should really be open season for the home stadium. I can understand not letting the away team bring some big noise device but home field should be able to have most anything they want.

gonna go out on a limb here and say that more than 75% of every game in the past 30 years probably has/had a band playing all through a game. that's part of the atmosphere, NOISE! Train horns are not everyone's cup of tea, don't sit near them just as you can choose not to sit by the band, B.O., or in-laws. I'm not certain any kid has ever said I can't stand a loud game while they were playing. Winners will not complain about factors they can't control during a game but losers on the other hand sometimes have trouble accepting the fact it may have been their fault they didn't perform their best and got beat. So why not blame the noise level? makes sense!
"I missed my block because the drumline in the bleachers" "I knew the count and could see the ball but jumped anyway because of a horn 100yards away" "I forgot to read my key because they were stomping in the bleachers"
A real problem would occur if they played a noise like "Rocky Top" lol

S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE reacted to Friday Night Lights in formations
Had a conversation with someone who played for the single wing for Harry Ragsdale in Narrows back in 58 and he said the key to their success was the lineman and their blocking schemes. Great conversation.

Spread, full house, t, it doesn't matter as long as it's played fast and downhill. You can get more creative just by making splits smaller/ larger creating better angles for blocks/traps/kickouts. Intelligent lineman make not- so- intelligent backs look great.

and for 90% of all involved the rivalry is not an issue after reaching adulthood. both are proud of their respective school, and should be. you've only got a handful on either side that'll never admit it's wrong to keep it going rather than let it go and use that energy/focus for the current program. train horn is loud, but absolutely wonderful in a game/stadium setting. games should be loud. yall put that childish stuff behind you, meet up and thumb wrestle or something. Good luck bears and warriors, wise county well represented, Norton city too. 3 M7 teams still in!

S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE got a reaction from Gridiron60 in Graham vs Appomattox
Whatever the case, not sure how you compare four different teams in two different years. Makes for interesting talk but the numbers don't lie. None of it will hold much water when thinking about what lies down the road in the semis. Statistically speaking, never would have thought union would be held to nothing the way they were, but it happened just as it happened in bluefield the first time was a big surprise that went the other way. After watching g-men play, I hope they bring the same intensity and attitude to appomattox. Good luck.
