  1. Am not sure if their any place in VA that offers SPRING FOOTBALL...But in NC they offer it. And from experience (5 years)...It was well worth it👍 if you have kids that love football!!! I can tell you with unlimited weight divisions...you will be able to tell if their going to make or break with in the 1st couple of years...its nothing like school ball..Just saying it was great that my son could play football almost year around..

no disrespect but what did we do differently? It looked the same to me, we just made more chunk plays Friday than we did the past few weeks. There were a couple more kids got carries sure, but that seems to be the only thing to me that was different. Horton and CJ got carries a carry or two against Abingdon but was nice to see them get 5-7 carries the other night. Along with Honeycutt

What I was trying to say is that, when the offense has 2 or 3 formations... The defense can't key on certain things when they see it..

On the other hand them young players that got playing time is  looking impressive for UNION🙌🏈💪

When you say closer than people think, are you referring to Central as the underdog? I'm not sure Central is the underdog by any means and I think most people overwhelmingly feel this game is going to be close.

Central has beat not one, but two teams that beat Richlands in Union and GC.

I was saying from years past, alot of teams don't feel Central can compete with the better teams in 2A...

  4. First of all I'm looking at Gate City and they have well improved in a lot of areas.

I feel that this game is going to go down to who ever has the ball last in the 4th quarter. If you was at the game last night then you saw Travis plug in another dimension of the offense...or the things they can do. In saying that, I feel they have to do the same thing on defense. Something that Gate City hasn't seen on tape or experienced first hand to study for.

I hope with all the battle tested games that we had this year...the experience will help us move forward into the playoffs.

  5. Well y'all great SWVA fans...Whats everybody thinking for this game....Me personally I don't have nothing negative to say about JOHN BATTLE...All high school's have up and down years!!!

In my opinion if it don't hurt us in the points seating, I would like to see alot of new faces starting on offense and defense this week to get game time experience to see who can help us going into the playoffs..👍🙏

I think we need a good 5 to 6 players to pull together and help in KEY POSITIONS where we have injuries at...Well if the game plan goes like this🤔...

UNION WINS 2-0....Like all year long the defense comes through with special play and gets a safety..

Not having key injuries would be a start. Lol. CJ played a tough gritty game last night!

Yes Sir...I think the style of football UNION play's is showing wear and tear towards end of the year now...I feel we need to get all the bench we can get....I CAN SAY THAT THE WATERBOY HAD A REALLY GOOD GAME LAST NIGHT👍🙌

BEARS. Was beat off the bus had no get up about them , that was the worse outing by a union team since combined. Never once did i see a coach getting onto any players for nothing but a pat on the back . Union has to realize well least hope they do now that union is every teams big game on there schedule an ready an prepared week in an week out N not overlook anyone. Maybe they will wake up after the embarrassment Friday night !! But hats off to wise found sonething on union defense an made them pày all night . Yes i know union is banged up an and should be after the schedule they have played an needs this bye week to rest an get heads right and ready to go

I would say that you haven’t  watched Turner during the halftimes, he was on his team to wake up, truth is this they are wore out, no easy weeks off , no breaks since July . It will be fine no matter what seat we land at , I think 1—5 will all have a chance at region D and Turner will let them heal rest and get ready for a playoff run

UNION is banged up pretty bad right now...

But I can say am proud of the hole team for the schedule that they have had to play so far...7 of 8 teams are going to the playoffs, Another factory I look at is that UNION runs the ball 90 to 95% of the time and that's just hard on players going both ways. But this past Friday Central was the better team hands down...I have a lot of confidence in coach Turner and his stuff to make the right adjustments going in to the bye week and then going to Abington...

Like I said it before.. I wish Central the best of luck!! AND HOPE TO SEE YA VERY SOON IN THE PLAYOFFS!!

No excuses from this Bear fan. We got beat soundly.

All praise goes to Central last night. They had a really good game plan...Union didn't have no answer for it. As we close this chapter I'm sure I speak for a lot of people from Union...we're praying we meet you again in the playoffs real soon.

    GO BEARS!!

I have always heard how schools such as BSG, Powell Valley, App. went so big on football games and to go play Union in the "Big Park" as we called it was a thing to see, so last year we drew Union in the 1st Round of playoffs. I was not disappointed, the way the town went all out to the way the players road in, now Battle on the other hand did nothing for the boys not even a pep rally, the boys were beat before they road over. The tradition of these schools is one reason the other is the way the boys get treated, the coaching is another an last is the way the people of the towns treat these young men even down to the cheer leaders is the reason you have so many young men on the sidelines. If I had had a choice #20 would have been playing football at Union instead of Battle, but like Bearcat Dad just said the young have moved out, no jobs here which in turn means no kids.

Grandpaw Trojan - I feel your pain, I'm from the Big Stone area and 20 years ago I left due to graduating college and finding work in North Carolina. So, I felt when my son was at the age of starting to play ball in high school, I wanted to take him back to where I was from because I knew of the long and deep traditions of football. I remember when I took him to some football games his 9th grade year  to let him see Union play, he was overwhelmed by the home town support and spirit. His exact words "I've never seen anything like this before". He didn't know who Thomas Jones was or PV or APP at all, he just seen all the things I was showing him at the games. So, his 10th grade year, I bought a place in Big Stone and he started playing ball there and from day 1, he has loved it from all the support from the school, football moms, and spirit that he sees. I'm just saying that I think this is one of the best decisions I have ever made for my son. If my son wins state, that would be GREAT! But just for the experience that he has had the opportunity to be a part of, is truly overwhelming. The reason Union is so successful in terms of school spirit, is because of a team and community effort that has a real love for the game! ITS TRULY A FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS EXPERIENCE!

Bristol, VA appears to be the 2nd largest population on the map with a 2A school (Radford #1). Surprised to see Bluefield & Big Stone fielding perennial powers with less than 1/3 of the population.

Just my opinion..People in the areas of BS & APP believe in tradition..And what Travis Turner has brought to the new HS of UNION!!

I can honestly say that's way my son there.

No disrespect taken at all sir. I like hearing everyone's 2cents for sure always good to see other opinions.  Jw what you mean you didn't think he showed out towards the end of the game?

Just saying he didn't show no disrespect towards other people also him and my son took pictures after the game..

Yeah he plays like the Waterboy sometimes hahaha. I seen scrimmage against Elizabethton he about blew a gasket there lol. I've heard he was just a little crazy from multiple people  lol. If Adkins acted out like that of would be different to me

    In all do respect sir...

I didn't think that Adkins showed out towards the end of the game...If anything he might have been fired up... over getting ( game tackled by 3or4 players at a time, that happened alot)...just my 2 cents..
