I have been thinking this morning this Union/Eastside game could be very interesting to see how it plays out.  Union has nothing to gain so could play their 2nd and 3rd string a lot, while it could be the push Eastside needs to jump into the 4 spot.

I think a “no contest” is the correct call.  Having 1 player contract COVID would ruin a team’s season, particularly if the forfeit is to a team that would rightly be favored.

There is a risk of catching covid and losing the rest of the season for Union, a lot to risk and very little to gain. I can fully support getting games in and giving the players the opportunity to play but Turner is rolling the dice a little imo. Maybe he figures they don't have a lot to lose if they don't get to participate in the playoffs...

If Union plays their starters, they name the score.

No. It was canceled.
Those were on Saturday. TV and TS were set to play Monday night, too, but it was canceled.

If Abingdon has 3 or more turnovers then Union has a chance. If Abingdon makes no mistakes,  4 TD win.

It does suck for the kids.  But it was also the smart call.  We have a really good administration in place currently at RC who don't rush to decisions or take them lightly.

The team itself is not in quarantine but a large portion of the school is.  The principal elected to move all classes for RCHS and RCI to virtual until 3/25.  He also cancelled all sporting events until next week.  All athletic teams must practice virtually until Monday at least after discussing a plan going forward with the health department to move forward safely.

Rye Cove is in quarantine and forfeited.

The game is Saturday at noon in Galax.  Galax will score a bunch of points on virtually every 1A team in the state.  In his 4th season as starting QB, Cole Pickett was 16-22 for 251 yards and 5 TD passes last week against Grayson.  Galax also had 209 yards rushing with four different backs gaining yards in chunks.  That's a tough combination to stop.  They aren't the same team defensively though.  Grayson averaged well over 8 yards per carry last week gaining 325 yards on 39 carries.  If Grayson had a passing game to balance out the offense, this could have been a very different game.  Grayson was 2-3 passing for 6 yards.  GW will score more against Galax than last seasons two games combined.

Northern Virginia counties are doing what I recommended to begin with...holding band performances with 1000 person limits, and just so happening to have a football game following it.

Some ugly football played tonight just about everywhere, but that's to be expected.  Weather has been horrible for practice, and no scrimmages. 

Correction....they are a 2A team enrollment wise playing in 1A

Burton falls 51-46, valiant comeback falls short. Tough to win losing one of your best guys the game before.

Burton is around 40 with basketball still being played.

Adkins transferring anywhere other that a prep school would raise a major red flag in his recruiting in my opinion.

I believe it is Rasnick, Cusano, Jenkins, Honeycutt and someone else.
Union got a nice W over a 5-1 Burton team tonight by double digits. Bears won't be an easy out for anyone, lots of grit. But not a lot of inside presence, gonna get killed on the boards most nights. Gonna be tough to compete with Wise and GC for M7, but Union has a case for third best.

My nephew ol' #5 got it done for PH. 1st Team Tight end and Defensive End.

That's the thing with the coach at central. He was on the hot seat for poor performances  in the past.  Quite a few wanted him gone before this group of  central kids started.   He had to start listening or be  let go.

Well it's working now. Dont shoot the messenger. 

If Wise underachieves and stinks next year, it'll be because coaches start listening to parents. Never listen to parents.
