I was Michael's first Field Training Officer and then his first partner at ROSP. I was so impressed with him instead of releasing him to my watch commander I asked to keep him in my building. We bonded as brothers and rode to and from work. We discovered we'd both had very similar tough upbringings having lost our dads way too soon,and having siblings to raise very young.. I loved him like a little brother,and I've cried a thousand tears. Oh how I will miss him bearhugging me with that crooked grin each time I'd see him. I will miss him stopping by the house to talk when things were tough. I will miss giving him hell about the Dallas Cowboys-so many other things. Michael Chandler was the kind of man that you'd want to marry your daughter. Sorry to ramble guys. I'm still struggling with this,and I desperately want justice.. Football just doesn't seem so important right now:( Red Onion and Wallens Ridge joins the other agencies with profound sorrow. My eldest is a police officer in a large city. The worry is crippling,but the pride is profound. It was an honor standing shoulder to shoulder with him for the first time at Michael's service . Michael would have LOVED that:)

Graham will be honoring fallen officer Michael Chandler tomorrow with a sticker on their helmets. Fans are asked to wear blue in his honor as well. The Graham Football Boosters and the girls basketball basketball team will be donating their half of the 50/50 tomorrow to the family of Michael Chandler. 
Come out tomorrow to the game and support this great family.

I know what you are talking about, saw it too. Seemed pretty petty to call someone's opinion dumb and put them in timeout for it. We all read the rules....or should have when we joined. Nowhere does it say having a contray opinion about something is a violation. 
I can't stand a bully or someone who puts another down publicly to look tough.

I like it when someone disagrees with what I say they tell me up front not a sneek attack on me by hiding behind power. I am saying this because I know I will get banned for this but I respect everyone I have disagreed on topics even those who are adimn.on here. For the most part they kept it respectful. I have been here since 2003. Never  been in time out or banned. Been in argument with Ryan and others but still have respect for how they are. That brings me to now. A post I made got removed because someone I feel did not like it because I called censorship then wrote another post. Next thing I know I am banned from seeing it if it is even still up.i will not name anyone but needless to say power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely. It showed its ugly head on here this week. I just wish people could post on here even if their post seems stupid to some of us it is just their opinion. And I thought that we all were still allowed to voice our opinions on here or is there only one opinion  that is allowed any more on here. If we deviate from it or sound dumb we get time out or if we go against them like me we get banned.if so this is no longer a free place to voice your opinions on sports or even defend another poster without fear of punishment. So thank you for my rant.

Didn't like that system at all.  Union had to travel to Dan River one week and turn around and go to Appomattox the next week.  It's okay if you're the home team I guess but the traveling was ridiculous.  Don't think you should travel 5 hours for a first round game

2A points for playing 1A schools is the reason Lee High is coming to Bluefield. The system was designed to account for strength of schedule and LACK of strength  of schedule. What would a normal Washington DC copycat passifist appeasing tool do at the VHSL? They simply work in a formula to counteract the same formula in use!!!!  
The problem is the mindset that ALL THINGS must be perfectly fair, and with bureaucracy,  all things can be fair, and the truth is, all things can NEVER be perfectly fair.  So, Abingdon has to travel a bit more East to play more 3A schools, whoopty do. Life goes on. People and teams bitc# and moan about inequality  when they could be setting the standard and putting the work in on how to overcome it, and be an example on how to deal with it and conquer it. The tools can never quite understand that by adding layers of equality to make things equal, MORE inequality is created. 
Look at Appo. Glenvar has had that 1 seed down there a couple times if I recall. Appo worries about APPO getting better and being good, not about a possible trip to Glenvar when Appo is clearly the most deserving team. They know that with hard work and working on self, they overcome the possible Glenvar travel thing. This is just one of hundreds of examples on the right way to overcome what is often situations that aren't always perfectly fair. 
Lee High played Rye Cove and East Montgomery. Gate City played Richlands and Radford.  In an attempt to make all of the above "equal," inequality was made WORSE than any inequality that first existed.

Rumor has it that Thomas from Va High has a bad hamstring, I have heard that carrying around a sack of 100 lb rocks on you back helps that , it’s true, there are no Union coaches  that have bad hamstrings

Turner does not deserve coach of the year. His team has regressed since the Graham game. If you watched them play Abingdon, you would have thought it was his first year coaching. From preparation to game/time management it was a dismal performance. 
Owens has/is building a solid program at Central. He will probably continue to beat Union for years to come. I think this could be a very good year for them. IMO he has done more with less than all other coaches this year.
Palmer is doing a bang up job year in and year out. This year is no different. I think he is reaping the benefit of having a large amount of talent on his team. Unlike Turner he knows how to put his best players in a position to win.
Va High coach, make some noise in the playoffs and you make a case. The loss to Richlands didn't help.
In the end I see Central playing Graham for the Region D championship. The winner getting the honor of being COY.

Yes.  It was a smart ass question.  You can find at least 3 threads where va high was coined the 2 seed  in the swd for last last few weeks.  ( not because of technicalities) , they were pinned in as they had won the head to head .  A few posters made reference to the fact that a game still needed  to be played. The others said it was as  a va high win. Fastest team in the area etc.
 Richlands is down , no doubt.   But they have been down a couple of times since the late 90s and have never lost to va high during that time.  The new coach will probably toughen up that schedule in time. You can’t play Chilhowie , PH, Battle , etc , etc , instead of RV , Abingdon , Crocket , .  It kills you late in season.  It’s not a fluke occurrence.   Richlands at 5-5 played union to to the wire Mitchell’s senior season in playoffs.  The next year at 5-5 , they made it to the regional championship, beating RV and Grayson on the way.  Doesn't always happen.   But a 4-6 , 5-5 that has been tested can usually play well later in season.  Va high has improved. Coaching staff has upgraded.  They will get better , but no where as good as the hype.   Webb  and Brown had huge games against them last year , the year before , and this year.  So it just wasn’t a surprise to everyone the game turned out that way.  

Union has a ZERO percent chance of beating Graham right now, barring a major turn around. I could actually see Central being built to beat the G men just due to how flawlessly they execute their technique. I’d still favor Graham though.
