SwvaOG got a reaction from Mountain Football in 2A All State Team
This has been a pet peeve of mine for the past 6-8 years. No one posts the full district or region teams anymore. The schools get the teams and extract their players and posts a fancy image/post on Facebook. Why there isn't an official M7/SWD and Region 2A site, I'm not sure. It would be great for historical purposes as well.
If you really want to be frustrated, try finding the all M7/SWD and Region team in baseball in summer...when the kids are getting out of school. Damn near impossible.

The answer is because many leaders are lazy in communication. Whenever there is lazy communication, it's often a result of lack of respect or caring or empathy for others. "If I don't care about you or respect you much, I'm not going to listen or communicate much." Sometimes, poor communication is due to being short staffed, super busy, and stressed out, but in many cases, it's not about being short staffed or stressed out, it's about being lazy and disrespectful. That's often the case with any local, state or federal governing authority or regulating agency.

I’ve known boards to limit the amount of time an individual can speak for public comment portion of meeting but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it eliminated completely. Definitely a bad look for the board & just adds to speculation they’re covering up information or at the least not addressing concerns parents may have considering this isn’t the only incident within the district. I don’t know the best way to handle the situation but eliminating that from the meeting I agree, unforced error on their part. Bad look.

Do you intend for me to believe the Central fanbase is difficult? I'll not have it, Sir!

I'm sorry guys, but I'm not buying that someone didn't have some suspicions about the activities. No one picked up on anything? A look, smile, odd behavior, suddenly gone/not-available? No one picked up on body language? This type of behavior, unfortunately, is more common than a lot of people think. You had inappropriate conduct at RV and Honaker with a former HC just a few seasons back. I know it was going on at my high school and a rival high school when I played ball. I'm willing to bet that several of the posters on here have similar stories.
That being said. I think it is a no-brainer that Edwards takes the job. I do wonder if Bostic wants to coach once his kid leaves.

Another interesting thing could be what if Bostic stops coaching after Kam graduates?

Damn...that's a serious statement and, if true, they will be a load. That being said, I did notice a couple of things about Union's OL that I hadn't noticed before. I saw the big OT get slung to the ground several times by a kid that was about 210lbs...including on the last play of the game. I watched the plays several times....the big Union kid had really poor balance and couldn't move his feet. This reinforces my believe that a 225lb DT/DE with good technique and a nasty attitude can handle/whip most 275lb+ high school OL.
If I'm a high school coach, I'm building from the interior DL out. Priority #1: DL...then OL....then QB....then DB....then the rest.

Well, in an effort to be fair, perhaps the most overlooked stat is Glenvar 13-130. Anyone who knows football understands what the heck that does to a game.
Another telling stat: Union rushing- 53/187 (that is only 3.5 ypc). That is a hell of an effort by the Glenvar defense. It is also about the ypc that Glenvar averaged.
Glenvar completed 61% of their passes and Union 37% with Union getting bigger chunk yardage and Glenvar being more efficient. I'm curious as to sack yardage. I'm assuming it comes off of the rushing yardage totals. That would explain the 153 total yards by Glenvar.....I'm having a hard time believing that is all they had.
If you want to do an interesting deeper dive you could look at what effect the penalties had. Did they wipe out significant chunk plays? Did they stop drives, etc. Not to be a dick, but you can't just look at stats on a surface level and not dig in to see the real story. A lot of this game was told by those penalty numbers. I mean Glenvar "averaged" 10 yards a penalty over 13 penalties.

I know Ridgeview plays in SWVA league that travels to many communities. Union is closer than most. That said, Union has no reason to be so generous, but hypothetically, if Union invites RV into the league would it ruin the feeder program?
Just thinking because I believe generosity of including teams from outside communities had an unintended impact on Richlands feeder system leading to an arms race to compete. This may not be the case, but my thoughts led me there when you mentioned the feeder program at Union.

The Union coaches, Jay and Kory, deserve so much credit for stepping in and being able to keep them focused. Our fans in the stands can be idiots at times but anyone being too hard on those guys needs perspective. They didn’t sign up for this, they were thrust into it and lost a state semi by a point.

Have you watched Union’s #2, #11 and #12 this year? Showboating is showboating. Not a big fan of it….but people tend to overlook it when it’s their boys.

End of the day, you can't let a good team hang around and you have to convert in the red zone. Union's strongest attribute up front met a team with just enough to cause problems. If Union converts one of those red zone attempts, maybe a different outcome. Great game, good luck next week.

To be fair glenvar was giving them a lot of yards in penalties too. But yes union missed their opportunities to punch it in and couldve been the difference. Hate we dont have a Region D team in the championship. How many years has it been since we haven't had a team in it?

RV has the skill positions set for next year but they are going to be hurting a bit on OL and DL. They have to replace some very good players and they don't have the depth like Union does. Scalon at OT/DE is a huge loss. They lose #21 (TE/DE), lose Center, lose Jaylen Deel (who seems to be not talked about at all.....crazy) at RB/DB, lose OG, lose Punter/Kicker. Just losing 6-7 kids results in 10-11 starting positions.
RV's achilles will be OL/DL size and overall team depth which is a damn shame. Their numbers are very low and the JV program was a bit of a mess and won't offer much help next year. The LBs will be very good...best in M7 IMHO. The secondary will be good but has zero depth with no apparent replacement for Deel. The DL will take a big step back with the loss of Scanlon and Rose...they will be undersized with no depth but they do return #60 who is a very good player. On offense they will have to pick what their base is. I think the Air Raid experiment is probably over as it should be. They still don't get the ball to Grant enough as he will be their best athlete. They have to figure out who is moving to QB...probably should be Hill or this year's backup, #2. The OL will probably take a step back and will definitely be smaller as they are losing two big bubbas (300lbs) and the starting C. They have zero ability to handle key injuries as the drop-off to the second team will be steep.
I know it sounds crazy....but this might have been their best window unless the RV 8th grade class provides help in two years.

Also, just to troll, I have no idea how RV even kept it within 100 considering they had the easiest schedule in all of high school football and could never be prepared to play such a physical team (even though they play them every year). Geez....how much was that talked about?

Agree. RV has matched anyone in Class 2 in terms of skill position talent the past 6-8 years. They have fallen short on the OL/DL and in-game adjustments/gameplans. If not for Clements, they probably win a state title in '22 as they put up more on Graham than any other team. They are a program that consistently has one or two, too many weak spots in the starting lineup. I often think what would have been had Trenton Adkins held back in middle school. He would have been on that '21 team with Beavers, Hill and O'Quinn. He alone might have been enough to get past Graham in that first Region Championship game. What if.

“Don’t put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby”
Nah, my window closed. My last bit of sanity left last week when RV had the ball on the plus side of the field against Union with four minutes and three timeouts and averaged a play every 37 seconds and took seven seconds to spike the ball. This forced them to have to pass on three straight plays because they wasted so much time.
I’m gonna fade away a bit from football….fish a lot more and visit old buddies more often. I recommend everyone do the same. My two youngest and I slayed some largemouths this past weekend. My son found where they were bedded down and had his best fishing day ever. It was honestly more fun than any game I’ve been to or a part of.
I honestly couldn’t imagine coaching in BSG. Talk about fishbowl. Good luck to whoever is next in line.
