    Hypothetical scenario here…
Next year RV returns a ton of talent on the girls side. Mind you with all Dickenson County kids. Let’s say they advance to the state championship only to face a glorified AAU all star team for a once in a lifetime opportunity to win a state title. Let’s say they lose by 20-30 to John Marshall. What are we saying to kids that remained loyal to their home school, put in countless hours of work and get beat because of the VHSL allowing this to take place? Even on the boys side VH makes it to the championship only to get whipped. Sure maybe they would’ve lost to the second place team but we will never know because we allowed JM to do what they’re doing. Central may be able to beat JM girls this year but losing the pieces they do I don’t foresee them being able to repeat that even if Central girls brings in the best players in SWVA. D1 talent or being able to draw from 1.1 million isn’t the same as an all district kid in SWVA! No where does it make sense that they’re allowed to compete in 2A. If they repeat it in other sports SWVA 2A teams will be nothing other than sacrificial lambs. Our only hope is to put pressure on our VHSL representatives to make an attempt to address the situation moving forward.

It's easy to sit in the seats at the Siegel Center and be an armchair coach and say a coach is a sore loser.   Dig deeper.
It's easy for JM fans to sit in their seats and say that Class 2 isn't worth their time because they play so much better basketball than what is played in the rest of the state.   Dig deeper.  They don't want to but they don't care. It's all about winning.
You develop your players from your youth league.  Develop your players from your middle school program.  Develop your players from your JV program. Shoot even add a good player or two from a nearby town.
Put together the perfect season.  Then go to Richmond and play a team thats been built from Team Loaded AAU.  Division 1 players all around.  Total mismatch.  Beating teams by an average of 60 points.
You play them for a state championship and get your behind handed to you.  Four months worth of work for the season.  Years of watching your seniors grow up from little kids to the amazing players they are now.  To watch them get destroyed by a built super team.
No chance to win a state championship.  Hard work for years gone.  Beat by 58 points.  And you are going to just say... "Just a better team.  We just aren't good enough to win a state championship."

    If that's your reply.....
YOU ARE A BETTER MAN THAN ME.

Not making excuses for RV’s performance at all. #17 is playing on a bad ankle (occurred in the Union game). Flu/COVID has taken a huge toll since the Union game with multiple kids being out almost the entire week of practice. Play calling has been suspect under this coaching staff and injuries have taken a lot of production off the field since the first game of the season. Bye week couldn’t have came at a better time for RV. Also physically Union took a lot out of them. Abingdon is very physical and huge. I don’t know what to make of them though. Are they the team that lost to Battle or are they a 3A school that over powered a good RV team? I think Union wins but it will be an old fashioned slobber knocker. Probably will remind some of the old LPD glory days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust. I’ll say Union 34 Abingdon 28.

Sad news at the Ridge as it appears Hackney for RV goes down with a severe lower leg injury was stretched off the field.

If the transfer is legit due to parents relocating then I have no issues with transferring. The problem I have is when high school coaches actively recruit kids from other locations. My daughter has been contacted about transferring. What a coincidence that it’s the same school that made the newspaper! There is no loyalty to your home school anymore and it is sad to me.

There was also a couple of "Freshmen" phenoms last year at Central and Eastside on the ladies side who were both turning 16 while other freshmen are 14-15.  It makes them sound so much better when everyone is saying they are just a freshman but their maturity and strengths give them an advantage over other kids in the same grade.
You guys could argue the merits all you want but 95% of the time a kid is held back it is strictly for athletics.  McClung was great either way but if he, Ervin, and Dean aren't held back then they probably don't fully accomplish everything they did.  Especially his overall scoring record.

Only way this game is competitive is if several RV starters are slowed by illness.
    RV - 42
    VH - 14

I think it was the first offensive play of the game for RV?  Correct me if I'm wrong.  Fans screaming, including neutral ones like me, "Snap ball, one step drop, pass ball very quickly to Beavers."  Well, first offensive play of the game for RV was?  Result was?
But hey, coaches don't read these boards, right?  LOL.  Great job by RV's offensive staff to get the ball to your athletes in OPEN SPACE.  That happened tonight, and give credit where credit is due.  It's one thing to be critical, but it's more important to praise when praise is deserved and changes are made.  Changes were made offensively.  It was obvious by watching it.

But Little Stanley has cute hair and 5 years experience as a middle school coach. That has to account for something
