Well my years as a "Raiders Football Dad" have come to an end. Kind of a big pill to swallow for sure!
My oldest son graduated in 2018 and finished his years as a Raider with a 54-3 record and accumulated three championship rings along the way.
My youngest son will graduate this year. He finished his years as a Raider with a 47-5 record (senior year only had 6 games) and accumulated three championship rings along the way.

As a Raider Dad over the past 6 years I've watched my boys be part of a program that has gone 77-5!! What a blessing!! Even more so than the record is the fact that they got to play under Coach Smith and his staff (Coach Stephan Castello serving as interim HC this year). They pushed these kids to be their best and spent countless hours preparing to help their teams be ready to compete. Coach Smith has gone well beyond football with the boys and for many of them (mine included) is a pillar for them to have faith in for the future.
During this time I've enjoy two trips to Big Stone Gap and had the privilege of witnessing an awesome OT game against Richlands in 2015. 

He should be about ready to leave Chatham.  He's been there for going on 12 months now.

And I don't know about you guys on the board, but I think it's total BS that a private school that can legally recruit can play in the same league as public schools that can't.  Granted, do they recruit like college programs do?  Generally no, but it's still a legal advantage their public peers around them don't have.  They need to be in the private school league with Roanoke Catholic and North Cross.  Just like in WV when you see Wheeling Central Catholic competing for state titles in single A in football and basketball all the time.

Simple truth is, COVID kills the dying. 
Based on CDC data, weakened immune systems, pneumonia, type 2 Diabetes, weakened systems due to old age, and other poor health factors are the most common reasons for Covid deaths. Covid alone rarely kills, the youngest and most healthy among us are not as impacted by it. This is not my opinion, this is based on statistical data.

You are spot on here. Shane has done a great job and I sure as hell wouldn't want to come in after Dixon but he has done it the right way in my opinion.
The QB was down certainly not a fumble and Galax got pass happy after the first drive of the second half. Although Galax had people open many many times that the QB just didn't see which hurt them and got them behind the chains.  Although he threw some strikes last night as well. Cole is an athlete for sure. 
I give Narrows front seven alot of credit they flowed to the ball extremely well and was physical (certainly the best we have seen all year.) like in stated earlier Galax had receivers open for days all night, Narrows just hadn't seen that type of speed all year and it showed against the their DBs. Although I cannot figure out why Narrows NEVER ONCE  covered our slot receiver when we went trips? 
 I also have to give Galax Defense credit to shut down Narrows like they did and hold them to less than a hundred yards total offense was an impressive showing. They will have to repeat it next week against a very athletic and  mobile QB in Holston.. 
Congrats to Narrows to a great year.

Just getting home.  Proud of our boys and of their season.  2nd half adjustments made on defense really did the job and gave them a puncher's chance.  Galax won this game with their defense though also.  Once the power run game was stuffed, they really struggled to move the ball.  Best of luck to Galax going forward.  Always pull for NRV teams to bring a title home.

Damn, that's terrible to hear.  Hate it for the kids, the parents, and school, the community.  I know the seniors have to feel like a rug's been pulled out from under their feet.  Best wishes and good vibes to any and all that if they do have it for good health for them and their family going forward. 

Right before easily the most successful run Narrows High ever had before or since.  Damn shame there wasn't a playoff system back then.  

Right up there with trying to make me say good luck to Justin McKoy.  Not happening homie.  Never wishing good luck to a Tar Hole.  Good health, yes.  Other than that, have fun losing to UVa the majority of the rest of your career, if not all of it.
