I am so impressed with Tazewell's grit and resolve this year.  I had this team pegged as an 0-10 team for sure, but that team isn't quitting.  They may not make the playoffs but you have to come away with respect.

Nothing against the Blues. But maybe Mance wants more than 1 title? Whooping everyone West of Roanoke (usually)is one thing but competition isn't exactly great outside of Union and Graham of late. And Abingdon occasionally.

Skyler Simcox (AHS 2015) has accepted a scholly to WVU.  He has to sit this year but then has 2 to play 2. Kid started at E&H, transferred to Western Ky, then got put on the Lou Groza watch list.  Then WVU offered him a ride and he jumped at it.  Good on him!  Good for SWVA football!!!

If Ridgeview doesn't have 6,000 yards in penalties in the Grundy game, that game isn't even close. Sorry. 
I do believe that the Wave is top of the class in the BDD though. 

I hate it to. He had potential for small ball at next level. I hope this doesn't ruin it for him. Good luck to the blues 

Princeton IMO by far has the best stadium for a high school football game. Bathrooms were really clean last game I went too. Heck I'd even drop a deuce there if need be.

Darned near witnessed a melee at a Graham/Tazewell baseball game in 2002. Tazewell's catcher intentionally tripped our 2-hole hitter as he was running across home plate to score the first run of the game in the Top of the 7th after a single by our 4-hole hitter.  That player's brother was in the on-deck circle, and he charged the catcher with a bat in hand, cocked to swing.  And he would've, had Tazewell's catcher not started running away.  Erstwhile, the 3-hole and 4-hole hitters are flying around the bases while he entire field was staring at the circus unfolding around the backstop.  Both scored uncontested.  I've often wondered how on earth that would be scored.
 
No one was ejected, which is the most surprising part of the whole ordeal.  Neither the catcher nor our 5-hole hitter.
 
The umps did go into "eff you Graham, no way in Hell you're winning mode".  Tazewell wouldn't swing at anything we threw in the Bottom of the 7th, and they were all called balls.  3 walks and an error turned into 3 runs.  We lost 4-3 in 8.

Here are a few recollections that stand out in my mind:
-In the early 90's, Tom Turner and Appalachia ran the hook and ladder on the last play of the game to beat GC.
-A couple of years later, Lindsey Fisher leveled, and I mean leveled, an Appy Bulldog on a crack back block on a punt return, and Coach Houseright jumped around like a jumping bean on the sidelines.  That's still the hardest hit I ever saw.
-Before you could spike the ball into the ground to stop the clock, Barry Wolfe tried to throw the ball out of bounds to stop the clock, and a Tazewell player stepped in front and made the long pick six.
In the category of really wild:
-In 1983, Colobro's first year at GC, Tazewell was down to GC 7-0 and threatening to score.  Near the goal line, while the Bulldogs were snapping the ball, some fan set off some firecrackers, and Tazewell fumbled on the play.  GC got the ball, took a self-inflicted safety, and won 7-2.
- I didn't see it, but one of my friends who played RB in the '70s told me that he got his leg broke really bad against Graham while he laid in the bottom of the pile, and a G-man broke it by twisting on it.

Yet Hurley has 180 kids in the school (which is the seconds smallest football school in VA the last I heard) Lead VA in all classifications in scoring, while averaging nearly 500 yards a game and you cannot help yourself to keep from talking crap about them? You must either be a crooked lawyer or a terrible one because you bend everything to suite yourself when someone states their opinion. Just chill dude, you're really an A$$ and cannot back the majority of what comes out of your mouth on paper. The majority of Hurley's D TDS have came into the second half and you pick 2 games? Graham played 4, yes 4 single A schools. only beating FC by 21 and Galax by 14? Oh wait you say, they're GOOD 1A schools? I thought 2A is so much more superior in talent (a statement you've made before- I paraphrase there) oh wait? I am from Hurley, I shouldn't know what Paraphrase even is. It's time for YOU to shut up snowflake :)
 
The last time I called you out a few years ago I remember telling you Tech will beat UVA by 3TD's you said it would NEVER happen and yet Tech steamrolled 38-0. My point, You do not know everything about football, you cannont predict the future. Just support the local teams man unless they're playing Graham. Just because a couple Hurley ppl gets under your skin I advise you not to group all of Hurley together. I take it personally, I respect every team and show respect to every team even the ones who have fans that ERRKKK the crap out of me.

If PM wins I'd imagine Hurley fans will be upset, of course, heartbreak is part of the game. But please do not make the mistake that Hurley fans are not respectable and humble in defeat. A few bad apples doesn't ruin a fan base.

I honestly must say Lloyd combs, he suffered a stroke a short while back and has been in/out of nursing home. But yet in his wheelchair he has been hand carried into press boxes to announce games for 100.7 while also contributing to the herald carrier, bluefield daily, and Virginia mountaineer.

I didn't realize Hurley had that many non-losing seasons. I geniuenly mean no offense, but I always thought of Hurley as a pushover, I didn't realize you guys had been successful. Playoff victories will come, Rome wasn't built in a day (although I'm not sure Hurley will ever have this talented of a core again) and you have the bad luck of playing against dominant Galax, GW and Riverheads teams. Kinda like Appo in 2A. They were never a factor years back, and now they're e favorites to go back to back 15-0nseasons and a 30 game win streak. Last year's Richlands team likely wins a state title more often than not, just ran into a buzsaw (and still almost won). Sometimes, its just bad timing.

Calling Graham a 40 pound bag of manure is most ridiculous thing I've read on here cause this is Grahams best team since the Ahmad Bradshaw days and they are one of the top teams in the state so regardless if that's a joke or not that's just stupid and most Hurley people would agree with me on that. With that being said Hurley has had a great season regardless of the strength of their schedule. Hurley has had more embarrassing seasons than successful seasons so this year Hurley fans take it in and enjoy it. You've been kicked around by Grundy, Honaker and Haysi a lot over the years. Regardless of what happens with Parry McCluer those players made school history and they deserve some praise.

I've said many times this year (and even before the season started) that I saw Hurley as a dark horse in 1A. They did what they had to do against a weak schedule, and we will see how good they really are starting next week (if they win this week). With that said, I agree with what others have posted. There's a difference in being prideful of a great season, and chest thumping and disagreeing with EVERY poster that happens to have a different opinion. Be proud, but also be a bit humble. 
 
I hope Hurley pulls off the win this week, I sincerely do.
