Battleborn 16 Report Share Posted September 26, 2016 Thoughts and predictions on this game? Will gate city come away with its first win or will it be a repeat of last year. I know Ridgeview has been struggling this year.
redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted September 26, 2016 Should be a hard fought game. Given how well GC played last week and how much Rv struggled I have a hard time thinking the Wolfpack leaves Legion with a W

swva_havok_fan 1,261 Report Share Posted September 26, 2016 Last year, I famously blogged  in the days leading up to this game that the Devils would take out all their frustrations and beat us 77-0.  Even last Friday night at Lee, folks continue to not let me hear the end of that.  Lol  So, maybe if I do the same this year, maybe the result will be the same?  Nah...  Blue Devils still get 'er done and win comfortably.  35-12. Union_Fan 2,155 Report Share Posted September 26, 2016 Play man to man, jam the receivers, blitz/contain Collier. He's a lot like Mullins from Central in that as he goes so goes the team. He accounted for all 4 of GC's touchdowns against Union. Â I believe that Ridgeview is capable of winning this game, but I give the edge to the Devils. SXSW 557 Report Share Posted September 28, 2016 A lot of GC fan's, especially the friends and family of the Houserights, are still pissed that Jeremy didn't get the head coaching job. He has proven one thing this year and that he is clueless a DC, If GC could be 3-2 right now instead of 0-5. I think that CCA has employed an "old trick" my bosses use to do to a worker they wanted rid of, instead of just firing them they just gave them enough rope to hang themselves, riding the management of the uncomfortable responsibility of firing them. I think that until there is major turnover in the coaching staff there will be major problem's. I hope Coach Akers sticks around to see the process through and outlast the "vocal minority" because the vast majority of GC fan's knew that it was time for a change. Regardless of who the DC is, no way GC would have 3 wins thus far this year. Really had no chance vs. Richlands and Abingdon. They might should have beaten South, and vs. Bluefield they seemed to play well early on. But, I suspect the Bluefield game played out a lot like the Union game. They played Union tough, but watching that game I was never in doubt as to who would win that game. Just watching the body language and the way the game was trending, I figured Union would turn the tables in the 3rd and win going away. Which is exactly what would have happened barring some questionable clock management by Union late. SXSW 557 Report Share Posted September 28, 2016 Two or three stops on defense and you never know, I didn't say "would have" I said "could have" listen and read before you type, and as with most Union fans you all are suppose to win every game against anybody, including Alabama if they wouldn't be scared to play you. jarhead24219

Never said that...but all the could've's and would've's and should've's in the world don't make the argument you were trying to make. Two or three calls in your favor in the first half had you where you were at halftime. If I were a GC fan and wanted someone to blame, I'd blame the guy that thought it was a good idea to kickoff deep to Mitchell...that's when the tide turned on GC. jarhead24219

mw0729 18 Report Share Posted September 28, 2016 Gate city ran a different but legal formation which fooled the official on the visiters side. They thought the guy who caught the touchdown was covered up and not an eligible receiver. They ended up getting the call right and picked up the flag. Leatherhead Larry 530 Report Share Posted September 29, 2016 This 0-5 GC team better have worked hard this week. I watched some of the Lee/RV and Union/RV games on film. If GC thinks they have this one wrapped up they are mistaken. Ridgeview looked fairly well early on vs Union and Lee on defense. It looks like their troubles lie on offense. Not to mention the past 4 teams RV has played have a combined record of 18-3 (2 of the 3 are to Richlands). I predict it'll be close but with GC coming out on top and CCA claiming win #1 to cap off homecoming week. Â (First time picking GC all year, I'm 5-0 in picking GC games this season) Â Devils add an extra score late to win 42-
Union_Fan 2,155 Report Share Posted September 29, 2016 I agree on Ridgeview's defense. I thought their pass D, especially, was well prepared. They just wore down against the run as the game went along. It should be a good, competitive game.
Leatherhead Larry 530 Report Share Posted September 29, 2016 I think GC should give Ridgeview a good steady dose of Collier and Calhoun. Bigrhsfan
