Gridiron60 Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Thoughts? Virginia High seems to be rolling and Graham’s offense has improved in recent weeks. Graham’s defense is lights out but can they stop Smith? Should be a good one! Quote

V-Cats Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 As I told a friend, both teams are in much better shape compared to late September Virginia High has Keshawn Smith and Logan Slagle now Graham has running water and electricity now G-Men should win but it's playoff football and we're as capable of beating them as Union or Ridgeview frito gonzales 1 Quote
jeffro Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Im going with Graham but this could be a nailbiter. Graham's line roughed them up last outing -still big advantage Graham. Again the D played lights out and will continue to do so. Someone stated that Smith was Bradshaw and Clements caliber, He'll have to have a big game. All it takes is 2 or 3 big plays to make all the difference Ill go out on a limb and say Grahams D will be difference Graham 34-14 Quote

SwvaOG Posted November 17 Report Posted November 17 I think the VHS coaches can scheme around some of their OL/DL disadvantages, but will they? Move the pocket, traps, screens, speed options, bootlegs, play-action fakes etc. I would love to VHS pull the upset but it's an uphill battle. Graham by 10. Quote

Graham needs to come in focused & not looking ahead. Penalties have been way down for GMen the past two games but if those creep back up, could hurt them against VH if the game is close. The GMen had a lot of unforced errors in the regular season game and they cannot afford those this time. I do think Graham’s defense will be a deciding factor and the defensive staff will come up with best schemes to stop VH offense. If VH consistently has a long field to score Friday night, Graham’s D may wear them down. Graham’s O-line with need to stand strong as VH had several sacks against Lebanon. It’s going to be cold & possibly wet. I’m not sure if that’s an advantage for either team. Hopefully, a good game and I’d rather not see VH pull the upset. 😂 Quote
tornado99 Posted November 17 Report Posted November 17 As I said before, Virginia High has the athletes to matchup with Graham, but the difference will be along the lines. It will be close, but Graham is more equipped for those long drives if necessary. For once, the weather probably slightly benefits Graham. Smith can score anytime he has an opening. There will be much fewer openings than in recent weeks. I’m taking Graham by 7-10. Quote
bulldog05-CO2017 Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 When is this? I’m looking to attend. Quote
Union_Fan Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 I guess we'll find out how much progress Graham's offense has made, and we'll also find out how good Va High can be with a fully healthy team. I don't think this will be a high scoring affair, but it might come down to who makes the fewest mistakes. I give Graham the edge in the trenches, but I think Va High has the "it factor" edge going for them right now. They'll be coming in with a lot of confidence. Quote
jeffro Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 I don’t see this being close after halftime. Grahams D maybe get burned early. But after adjustments, Graham rolls Quote
Bcats Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 In sports no matter how good you are you eventually come across someone that's better, in this case that's Graham. As a Bearcat fan I'm not nervous about the outcome Graham is by far the better team end of story, what has me nervous is several key basketball players for Va High is on the football team, I just hope they can escape this game injury free Quote

Some teams fail to make adjustments, the Regional Championship against Ridgeview comes to mind from a couple of years ago. Ridgeview had great athletes that year like the Beavers kid but I don’t think they even attempted to make any adjustments on offense or defense. SwvaOG 1 Quote

I hate to see any kid injured especially an injury that could end their season or impact the season of the next sport they play. Prayers for both teams to play their best and come away injury free. Snake makes adjustments and, honestly, most other DC's don't. RV never adjusted to the wildcat in that game....it was painful to watch. To be honest, the format of the game allows the OC to have an advantage over the DC. The OC has an initial game plan...if it works the DC can adjust at halftime. However, if the OC does a bit of extra work, they should have a rebuttal game-plan ready to go. It should be on his call sheet. If so, the DC really doesn't have the time or framework (half-time) to make adjustments. Gridiron60 1 Quote
FRIDAYNITELIGHTS Posted November 19 Report Posted November 19 Blustery with snow showers. High 34F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. The chance of snow is 50%. Snowfall is around one inch. Union_Fan Posted November 19 Report Posted November 19 These conditions are going to be difficult for both teams. The question will be, will it be more difficult for one team so much so that it creates a true disadvantage? Graham throws the ball some. Obviously, so does Va High, but does either team throw enough to be truly affected by the weather? If both teams are forced to run the ball, Graham will have the advantage. If Va High somehow manages to get the ball to their playmakers without throwing it 20 yards, it might level things up just a bit. Will be interesting see how the weather impacts games everywhere. Graham is much better in the trenches. VHS needs a dry field to utilize their speed. If it ends up a ground game the G-Men will roll. Union_Fan 1 Quote
jeffro Posted November 19 Report Posted November 19 If it’s slippery and most likely will be, I’ll assume we’ll see a big dose of wildcat football. Graham like to slam it forward anyway. Not sure if Va can run power or not. Bring your winter best as it’s gonna get cold up here in the mountains!😁😁😁 Quote
