Less than 24 hours to go. I stated before the Richlands playoff game that it was the most excited I've ever been for a high school game, this blows it away. I look for the park to be rocking. If any of you Graham fans (or Union fans for that matter) want to come chat just come to the front of the pass gate. I'll be there along with @Union's hammer and @BearDawg along with many more interesting characters!

Well, Ridgeview did have a great regular season and exceeded expectations. When you're looking at Tony Palmer at Graham he took over a team that had just lost 70-0 to Gate City in the last game of the previous coach's tenure and since then he's drastically turned it around. I realize he's been blessed with a awesome collection of athletes for SWVA but In his first 3 years hes went 1. 6-6 - loss in the 2nd round of playoffs 2. 11-2 loss in the 3rd round of playoffs 3. 11-1 still playing in the 3rd round

Good post. I understand the feel. I just think Chilhowie has a different feel this year. They have gotten better and better through the year. They might not win but I think they could hold there own against Galax and Narrows. They are quick on both sides of the ball and love the game. I think there is a chance to see them in Salem.

It’s not a slight against Chilhowie. I’ve said all season on the podcast that they were my pick to win the region, even after the rough start they were having. I just don’t believe they will beat Narrows or Galax. If Galax had People’s playing, they would probably be my favorite to win in Salem in 2 weeks. I do think the Chilhowie @ Narrows would be a good game, though.

They beat the 2 and 3 team in the weakest region in the state top to bottom. Chilhowie destroyed PH. But even Chilhowie have some head scratching losses this year. No matter who wins, either Galax or Narrows wins next week. But gimme Chilhowie by 24 this week.

VT has had Taymon Cooke on the sidelines a few times between the last 2 seasons. They've showed interest but I know he'd love to get an offer from them.

When Appomattox came to Marion a couple of years back I had the pleasure of running into some Appomattox fans in the Dollar General by the high school. They weren't dressed in Appy material but, and this is going to sound awful in the modern PC society, they were black, and considering that less than 2% of Smyth County is African American, seeing a couple of African American folks that you don't already know personally is usually a tell-tale sign that they aren't from here. We had a chat and they were super nice, some of the most courteous visiting fans I've ever experienced. Fast forward an hour and a half, it's pouring rain, and the visitor stands are booing injured Marion players while they're being attended to by trainers on the field. All it takes are a few bad apples...

There are a few good Appo fans out there, but I've found the vast majority to be arrogant and insufferable. Five minutes on that other board always makes me extremely thankful for this site.

I think everybody's being way too generous to Burton here. They definitely got better and found their mojo towards the end of the season, and into the playoffs, but their no where near Chilhowie's level. Chilhowie wins handily by 20-30 points.

Just my opinion sir. Union has class ,your players showed their butt the last time they played and they got a well deserved butt kicking. GO BEARS !

You need only to look at Bluefield, Graham, Union, Chilhowie, Galax, and Narrows to get your finalists for this award...
