For the first time in Bland County basketball history, Danielle Sanders (granddaughter of the Joe Stiltner, Bland Rocket basketball standout in the 70s) set the record for most blocks in a girls' game with 14. The previous record was 10 set by her. She also achieved the first triple double in the history of BC basketball with 14 points, 16 rebounds, and 14 blocks in a victory against Grayson County. Bland plays Galax tomorrow night. She's a junior who's probably about 6' 4". I think Joe Stiltner was somewhere around 6' 9" tall. Congratulations to this young lady!

I'm just saying I don't think Wicks is the pick because someone else mentioned his name. I think Shane is pretty happy in Honaker.

Fun fact, the song "Russell County Line" was actually written about the buffet queue at Bonanza.

Wise use to have one, Pretty sure its were arbys is now. Near where bonanza was. Best i can remember it had a little food bar. The wendys there had a nice little bar too back in the day

Did some googling. Was about 700ish Bonanza and Pondersosas (same ownership) in the USA around 1990. By 2001, only 300. Today, only 13 total (Ponderosa and Bonanzas) and 9 or 10 of those 13 are Ponderosas, and only 3 or 4 Bonanzas left in the United States. Don't quote me on those numbers. They are close but might not be exact. I did the search last night. Lebanon is kind of unique that it's only one out of 3 or 4 Bonanzas left in America regarding what once was, an outstanding steak house. We are getting into "Tastee Freeze" territory here with only about 12 Tastee Freezes left in America. Just rare to find one, much like Lebanons Bonanza.

Should have been. Only three things are guaranteed in Lebanon. The two sports that are the most popular in our area are the worst of all of the programs. Honaker not putting Lebanon on the baseball schedule. And getting your a$$ blown out after eating at bonanza

Two great areas in SWVA are now without a head football coach. Which one will Bill Belichick chose? Both Lebanon and Wise offer tremendous eateries, shopping options, and scenic views... Could come down to the wire in this one.

We could do it but it would need some moderator attention. Basically pin it to the top and make it a sticky thread like the two they have now.

It's quite interesting that folks are talking not about what Davis brings to the table, but what D. Palmer would bring to the table after this hire.

I personally don't see Dennis leaving Graham, but I've been wrong many times in my 70 years if life. I would like to see him back at Richlands because I think his defensive coaching skills played a big part in the good teams that Mance had while he was HC. Offense is fun to watch, but as the saying goes, defense wins championships. Come to Richlands or stay at Graham, eitherr way, I wish him the best in his retirement.

Sounds like a plan. My prediction is based upon what I think, is that he stays put. I haven’t talked to him in a while, but it’s not so easy to pick up and move when you have a family to think about, even when other family is involved. Hypothetically, if a choice is to be made between spouse and child vs parent or sibling, it’s wise to choose the former. I continue to wish him success in retirement no matter what he chooses. I would happily welcome him with open arms if he chooses to return.

Until I see his name submitted by Graham to the school board, I would bet money he would be returning to Richlands. The timing is too coincidental.
