Richlands' schedule's a gauntlet, which is fine if you're a perennial contender. Not so much if you're trying to rise from the ashes.3 points -

Agree I could see Ridgeview winning by 3 TDs. We’re actually a worse team now than we were 5 weeks ago2 points -

The way they’ve done it with him I think is correct. Identify a good Freshman and give him the ball for 4 years. It won’t always work, but in this case it has.2 points

Given it some thought to drive to the Ridge SwvaOG. We're suppose to head down for Myrtle Beach this Tuesday for the winter and this is the point where I go to the Loris games. If I could get my wife to budge and hold off a week, I would go see it. I've never been to Ridgeviews Stadium.2 points -
If RV defends our only pass play, the quick throw to the sideline, bears be in trouble . Union Dbs can’t cover over the middle passes Bears need Bostic in secondary. Let capable backup QB they have but never use get some snaps to rest him.1 point

But if we don’t adjust coverage schemes RV will find wide open guys instantly and negate pressure. Keith Chandler is our best player but wasting him in coverage is a bonehead decision at OLB1 point -

Only one problem with that. How many times has Ridgeview looked like the best team in the area only to pull a "Union" and blow it in a big game? 2017 to Grayson Co, 2018 to Richlands, 2019 to Union then to Central in the playoffs after winning the regular season game by 21. 2021 & 2022 to Graham weren't especially competitive. I can't figure them out anymore than I can figure Union out. I really don't know what to expect Friday night. One thing that gives me hope is watching Va High repeatedly get pressure on O'Quinn by only rushing 3 linemen. That would concern me if I were Ridgeview.1 point -

This game will be dominated by Union's line on both sides of the ball IF...IF...Union wins and it will be more than a 10 point win IF Union wins. If RV wins, they will have gone toe to toe (neutral with Union's lineplay) and RV in space with the QB and WRs will take over and they will win by more than 10 pts IF they win. Game won't be within 10 pts regardless of who wins in my opinion. We often here about 2 close teams, so the final score should be close and it usually is. You can have 2 very close teams in level of play but the styles and tempo are so different that the final score will often NOT indicate exactly how close the level or quality of play between the 2 teams are. I think it's the case here. Just my opinion though.1 point -
This happens every year. The Union mid season slump is a real thing. Who knows, maybe they'll surprise us Friday night.1 point

I always assumed Graham had or would have athletes based upon what I remember historically. The G-men always seemed to have a speed advantage in the form of 1-2 athletes that could take it all the way if teams were equal along the line of scrimmage. I am not certain that Richlands has that in the pipeline although as I have said, I think we have several decent athletes coming up. The line really needs to improve. Some of that is probably both weight room and mainly mentality. I honestly have a hard time evaluating upcoming talent based upon feeder program results because it looks like overall you beat the competition you play much of the time and probably should. But, that’s a lot of teams we don’t play consistently in high school. Right now, there aren’t really any gimmes as you may have playing smaller schools. I can’t really discuss schemes in detail due to all with the different schools of thought, but I feel like the game itself has moved away from the general athletic population that resides in Richlands historically. The game has dramatically shifted to spread it around and use the entire field rather than create numbers advantages and using power. I wonder if going old school would create a novelty advantage because schools don’t see it as much, but we currently don’t have enough to execute (see Riverheads and Rye Cove). Looking at our opponent, Lebanon on recent history has been generally poor to mediocre. Currently, they have several things going for them. They have a generational quarterback to build around. I know they have a new coach, and that can do wonders, but the jury is out for consistency. In one year, the turnaround is impressive. That is clearly helped by a rapid influx of talent. According to Crigger, more basketball players have come out for the team and the obvious addition of the RB from Honaker is a huge swing for a smaller school. Not to overstate it, Lebanon plays some weaker or Class 1 teams on its schedule which provides a little breathing room. It’s like playing an ACC schedule instead of an SEC schedule, that allows you to occasionally rest up, heal up, or not be at your best for whatever reason and still have a chance to win. I think this is a similar recipe to bring Richlands back to respectability. Good luck to the Blues and for both to come out healthy.1 point -

Chaminade 23 Monarch 2 Half Monarch’s QB is awful. When we saw them beat Peachtree Ridge, GA earlier this season, they had to rotate Ole Miss 4 star WR commit Samari Reed and a 3 star Tulane edge commit out of the Wildcat to get the offense started. None of that tonight. They even had a 3rd and one and a fourth and one at the Chaminade 3, and threw 2 incompletions instead of bringing in one of those dudes to get the first down or a TD out of the Wildcat. One thing I’ve learned down here is that you won’t find many “great” coaches. The public schools don’t pay very well and it’s more of who can collect the most talent, and Chaminade has plenty of that.1 point -

Lebanon at Rural Retreat just got a bit more interesting to me after today. I know Rural Retreat is ground and pound and play solid defense as it's been for years, and Lebanons strength is not its defensive line. That matchup can allow Rural Retreat to possibly make that game interesting if they don't turn over.1 point -

The referee’s explanation was that he thought the 5 yard line was the goal line, so when it passed the 5 yard line he blew it as a touchback. The whistle barely blew though, probably because he realized he made a mistake, so half of the players stopped playing and half kept playing. By not being assertive in his whistle he ended up getting the Grundy player unfairly smacked by two tacklers in the end zone. An injury timeout on that play allowed the referees time to decide on what they were going to do since it was an inadvertent whistle. They decided on a re-kick.1 point -
