Gotta give credit where credit is due. Ridgeview impressed me in a couple of ways. First, they controlled the line of scrimmage  on both sides of the ball. Also, they flew to the ball faster on D than any team I’ve seen in a while. I wouldn’t say that Union didn’t have its “A” game, I think Ridgeview took it away. I honestly think Union was out coached tonight. The play calling hurt the Bears too. I completely understand wanting to establish the run but we have to many options in the passing game to stay in be T, especially when a team is dead set on stopping it. IMO, #10 & #80 for Union need to play more of a role in the offense. And I’d love to see them use the middle of the field.

I do wish they were used more. I’m not sure it would have made the biggest difference tonight though.

I’m with everyone above. Well played game. Physically Union was the better team. I’m sure, as mentioned above, neither team showed all they had to offer. I like our run game and I think our passing game will surprise some teams. Turner made some nice throws, especially on the double out to Falin on the sideline to pick up a big first down. That throw and catch rivals any you’ll see all season long. Unions defense looked much better this week compared to the Elizabethton game. All in all a good showing for both teams. They both should be ready for a solid season. 

Man, we gave Union everything we had for three quarters.  I was sold we were going to pull the upset, but the boys had nothing left for the fourth and were done.
Although, I would've loved to win and advance to regionals, it's probably good we didn't, so we wouldn't have to go to Grayson County most likely.  I would rather not see Grayson County in ANY sport for awhile.  Lol

Unless Central loses to Abingdon tonight, there won't be a coin flip now.  Lol

Wasn’t Havok’s fault a s w district a d told his friend the system but not the entirety. Mountain 7 is 1-4 top (Abingdon is 3A and as such goes to their region off points) Grayson county boys and girls play in Mountain empire tournament and district reg season. They have to be eligible to contend for a Region.  When southwest season is over they will use a point system.  The afore mentioned. 1,2,3,4,5 for loss going a aa aaa aaaa aaaaa. And for wins 3, 6,9,12,15 for wins.... divide the total number at end (presently believed to count Mountain empire and s w district tournament if you get a bye you get +6 (if it’s 2A) ) Grayson has only lost to Radford and George Whythe. They beat 4A Carrol County for 24 points (equivelant of 4 2A wins)  but lose a lot of points with a lot of 3 A point wins and one 1 point for single A loss to G dub....
Graham has S W1 locked then you have Marion, Lebanon, Richlands competing, one of those teams will lose a spot to Grayson due to out pointing them.

then you go to Wise for semis and finals I believe ?

I agree that Union has played fairly well without Slagle but IMO they wouldn’t have been much better with him. Different yes, more consistent maybe. I think him being out has made some other guys step up. It seems we have a different leading scorer in each game. Slagle being out has showed that we have 7-8 guys that can contribute.  If Slagle is healthy I don’t see Rasnick getting as many looks as he has for sure. I can see them making things interesting come tourney time. 

Seating this time of year isn’t a problem. Best bet is to get there 30-45 min early and you’ll find a seat. As for parking, best bet is to park in the surrounding neighborhoods and walk in, easy in and out. We have a really good Mexican place to eat if you like that type, other than that it’s mostly fast food but there’s a good variety. Check out the Southwest Virginia Museum if you have the chance. Sounds like it would be right up your alley. I think you will enjoy BSG and the Park. 

That’s the guy. He came in right before kickoff. It was fairly early in the game when Turner had him removed. Like someone said above, Union has way to many people hanging out on the sidelines any way, but this guy stood out as being out of place. We have a few amateur photographers that take pics and post for parents etc but this guy was not a local. 

I thought it was ironic situation anyways when I first seen the guy because really, how many people do you honestly see wear trench coats anymore? Not judging, just saying. He goes and stands right behind Travis while he's looking at his laminated sheet around his neck with the plays and pulls his camera up, Travis notices him, runs him off, and then told the officials. I seen him go around and try to hide behind the richlands sideline. The officials confront the county police about it (I'm assuming) because they walked that way as well. And shortly after, Mr. Goforth walks over and has words with the guy. 

I’m glad someone else caught that other than me. It happened on my end of the field.  Very strange situation. The guy obviously said or did something to get Travis fired up and he had him ran off. Even confronted the official about it.  I’ve never seen the man before so he obviously wasn’t a local guy. 

Big shoutout to a heck of a Richlands team from this Union fan! That was the best defensive game I have ever seen. Both defenses were spectacular. A couple of big plays on both sides but other than that they both had it locked down. I hope this game was an eye opener for the Bears.

I agree with Ryan. It shows a great deal of commitment from VT for Fuente to come to Wise. Especially knowing what kind of game it would be. I think it comes down to VT and UGA. Either choice would be a tremendous opportunity for Mitchell. As for the special teams coach showing interest in our kicker, I heard similar talk. Prime example of other players benefiting from Mitchell’s exposure.
