Yes their middle school program is excellent, we have benefited from it also as we have received some player from lee middle. I hope it translates to some deep playoff runs for both county teams.

Ji Burton vs Eastside
Burton v. Eastside, An Eastside win and they “clinch” the crown baring major injuries. Burton win, the Last game of the season between Thomas Walker becomes a spotlight game if everything pans out as expected. Using the 1a Quality Gauge, Lee high, this game favors J I Burton. However, seeing Eastside, they are able to stop the run well and have one lineman that demands a double team. However Burton has focused more on their throwing than their Jet series Flexbone/wing t. Eastside did have problems in their coverages vs Thomas Walker. Get your Favorite coin out of your pocket and flip it while pulling on a dandelion to make your selection here. If i had money on the game, I would take JIB by a score.
 
Pineville Ky @ Thomas Walker
Thomas Walker’s Biggest Game of the year. Pineville holds all the power points Thomas Walker needs, and with that enters this game a much improved team. Pineville is off a one point loss over Cumberland Gap Tn while winning games they normally lose. Pineville and Walker are close in a lot of aspects. The factor that throws this one in Thomas Walker’s Favor is the location. We all know the 13th regions KY refs (Middleboro, Harlan, Letcher Central,  etc). Without the 21 point ref cushion, I say Walker wins in a Close one. 1 Score.
 
Northwood @ Castlewood
Another Close Affair, Northwood has only beaten Twin Springs while Castlewood is coming off an upset of Rye Cove as their 1st win. I know Castlewood has a stout Defense against the run, however they are in need of help in the passing game. Based on Northwood’s scores, Im going to go out on the Limb and say they can passing enough to keep this game close. This will be another grinding low scoring game, that has the big backs from Castlewood carrying the Devils to their second win.
 
Holston @ Narrows
This game will be a C/D clash of interest. A Region C team in Narrows vs a Region D Holston Team, that has silently won some games. I will watch this game to see how close the Region D is to Region C in the coming future. I favor Narrow by 2 touchdowns.
 
Union @ Morristown West. 
I take West by 14 points. I think West figures out how to win with depth this year.

The Top Mountain 7 and Southwest District teams seems to playing in games that present lopsided score predictions. Here are some lesser publicized Team in Quality games .

Double wing vs Triple Option, this should be Battles game to win, but the score may be closer than some might think. I see this being with 14 points after its all said and done in favor of the Trojans.
Rye Cove @ Castlewood
Seeing both Rye Cove and Castlewood, I can strongly say that Rye Cove "should" win this one. Castlewood has 2 backs that are big and can run the trenches and a Defense that can STOP the run. However, the Devils do lack in team speed. Rye Cove is a team on the move and will only continue to get better, but their offensive execution needs work. Backs aren't carrying out fakes as they should and blown plays doomed them (some would say the refs, Video shows otherwise😀) vs Thomas Walker. I project a 18-6 by the War Eagles. Expect a closer game if they don't clean up the offense.

Judging off Last years Results and then this years slow starts, this could be another tight game in SWVA
Eastside @ Thomas Walker
The "hommer" in me is showing but I believe this game will be closer than expected if not go the other way. Eastside has proven they are still a top 1a Cumberland team and a playoff team with close games vs Patrick Henry and Lee. However Thomas Walker season has started better than expect. In reality, they are a 4th and 7 away from being 3-0 on the year. My biggest concern for this game is Pass Defense. Against the run, Thomas Walker has proven itself; against the pass, its an unknown. Harlan Ind use the out routes and screens to some success but it did not translate to a win as Walker's bend but don't break approach netted Walker the win.  The keys for this game is the Thomas Walker CB's and LB's ability to diagnosis runs from passes while still having the ability to cover in space. Another Key is how well can Eastside contain the edge vs the speed of Thomas Walker, and if contained can Thomas Walker still get points on the board.

I think the big difference is that east tn and swva do not participate as heavily in AAU as other regions. 
Unlike football, basketball has shifted from being high school based to travel ball based.
Right now, I doubt any school in the Cumberland District has a AAU team from 3rd grade thru 11th. While the rest of VA and TN has that.
