Loris SC is a very very rough town. The crime rate crime is far worse than the small towns of SWVA. Loris is also about 30 minutes driving time (door to water) from Cherry Grove/Ocean Drive) NMB. It's not like Loris is right on the ocean and there is less to do in Loris than there is Richlands, unless of course, you take the 30 minute trip to the ocean. Loris has several kids that are wannabe gangsters and has far.more problem kids than Richlands. Other than the money, and if 30 minutes is close enough, it would not surprise me if Mance returned. Also, Loris is in the conference of Green Sea and Dillon, and they play S. Columbus, a rival school in Tabor City, NC every year. They are basically going to have 3 losses every season that's almost automatic. Then, there are the other games........no surprise is he came back to SWVA  Mance would have been better off taking an assistant (OC) job at any of the Myrtle Beach/NMB schools which are bigger than Loris, but far, far less stressful in the area of teaching than Loris. You wouldn't believe the crime that stretches from Lumberton NC down through Highway 9 in towns like Tabor City, NC , Chadburn, and Loris, SC

I’ve heard from multiple places that Rhodes is a quality person.  And be mindful that not all losing records are created equal.  Going .500 with the talent he’s had at Eastside is not a small accomplishment.
 
I’m much more concerned long-term when the results of their broken feeder system start to show in a few years.  Will the community be understanding, or will the community demand that it be blown up and to start from scratch?

And the last swva team to knock off Appo? Lee High, 2014 - right before they fired Terry Martin. 

Are you telling me that the electronics that you speak of are only sold in Lee County, Virginia?
Union High School, not far from Lee County, just won a State Championship in Basketball and was in the State-Semifinals in Football... 
Graham has always been smaller than Lee High School, yet, they compete in Football and Basketball most seasons. 
A number of other schools locally could be used as an example. 
Maybe electronics or lazy kids aren't the problem. Could be the adults???

Cody Cain was an amazing D-1 Athlete with the offers to show for it, 0 doubt in that. Man ran a 10 100 and a 21 200. 
However using the records. Cody's career was 2010 (5-5)  2011 (6-5) 2012 (1-9) and 2013 (1-9).  
The Respectable years for TWHS were 1991 (8-3) 1992 (10-1) 1996 (10-2) 2008 (6-5) 2009 (6-5) 2011 (6-5) 2017 (6-5) 2018 (7-4). 1996 was the lone Playoff win vs Ervinton only to meet Tom Turner and the Bulldogs. 
What we currently have is consistency as Head Coach and the makings of a sustained .500+ Program, something that has never been accomplished at TWHS. That is something to grow on and I am proud of the improvement that is taking place within the Football Program. 

Am I missing something here?  His best record at TW was 6-5 on 3 occasions (2008, 2009, 2011).  Each one of those seasons ended in a playoff shellacking.  He went 1-9 in his only season at Eastern Montgomery, and the news of his departure hit papers before he had a chance to tell his players.  He lasted 1 game at John Battle.

The first school I remember was Gate City in the 1970s. I believe it was a steam engine train whistle either on a flatbed truck or trailer. GC dominated the 10 team SWD throughout the decade. The train horn was loud, intimidating, and menacing. You could also use those same adjectives to describe Blue Devil fans who circled Legion's track while taunting both the visiting team's bench and their fans.

Oh for sure. I remember the GC horn growing up in the 90s, I also remember having to sit in the stands with GC fans over there and at times it wasn't the most pleasant place to be lol

Congratulations on  letting some JV kids come to your house and land a walkoff (since we're going that route). Look even shorthanded it's clear that Graham has a slew of weapons that many teams in our region do not,so that dog won't hunt. Had Union fell on that fumble we wouldn't have needed that walkoff,but then again if frogs had wings they'd get bat poon,so no excuses. The Bears made the big play and the G-men couldn't catch go Johnny go:). I didn't hear the Union folks crying and making excuses when Graham sent us home..

In the 2014 playoffs, Gate City beat Graham 70-0.  Since then, Gate City has been 15-44 since then...Graham has been 58-14 with a State Championship...
