bulldog05-CO2017 reacted to Pioneer in Lebanon vs Honaker (Thursday)
Lebanon 19
Honaker 13
Final
Lebanon could have win this game by a lot more. They had 3 drives inside the 5 they should have scored on. They didn't however but still managed to win. I felt like they out played Honaker from the 2nd quarter on. Honaker had 2 good drives. If Lebanon can clean up the redzone offense and finish drives, they will be in good shape. Their passing offense is only going to get better as the season goes.

Chilhowie's most successful play of the evening was misdirection out of their double-wing. Send the A-back in motion. Fake the handoff off-tackle to the HB, give to the A-back cutting inside. They ran that play 8 or so times, and gained probably 60 yards out of it. As you say though, that provides good film session fodder for maintaining gap discipline and avoiding getting caught on your heels.
It's going to be an excellent game Friday night.

bulldog05-CO2017 reacted to Jags52 in Lebanon vs Honaker (Thursday)
The Air raid wins out in this one. 1A schools are not use to seeing the passing attack that Honaker is going to bring to this game. Tiller has put in a lot of work in the summer to get this thing humming and its only going to get better with time. I agree Honaker may be the 1D front runner and they will pass their way to victory in this one

A football game will be played. Fans from both schools will sit on the away stands. A team with blue as their primary color will win… and lose. A train horn will be sounded.

I hate to see any athlete injured! I hope the best for him.

The coaching staff quite obviously used the game as a developmental session, which I think is the correct move in a game that ultimately means nothing in the standings.
I was impressed with Chilhowie’s reserves, especially their QB, who made some timely reads and throws. The future looks pretty bright for their crew.

They aren’t — but there are a “pair” of GW posters who are the same person… 🤷🏻♂️

The admins can tell if a person is using multiple accounts I think??? Something to do with IP address. If it makes the board more interesting, I’m okay with one person having multiple conversations with oneself. It’s probably therapeutic (I only play a doctor on a sports board) 😂.

No way to tell in a scrimmage, especially the first one. The second scrimmage (the one before the first game) shows a bit more, but in those first scrimmages, you can't tell from play to play who is in the game regarding starters. The RB and TE and LT may be backups, and the QB, Center and Guards starters. Just no way to know as kids are shuffling in and out. I think the first scrimmages are good at evaluating individual talent such as.....Baylor from Radford is obviously the real deal. It didn't take but a few plays of him playing to see that. Same for the Tazewell QB. Same for Ratcliffe at Giles. Same for Clements at Graham against GC (who by the way, isn't 140 lbs anymore). He's looking 160ish now. Lots of muscle weight added to him. Second or final scrimmage (the one before the first official game of the season) tells more, but even in these, play selection offensively and flow of that selection will not be what it is for the regular season. An exception to that would be Giles. Play selection and theme and flow aren't going to be much different.

Either this person was born in 1988, or graduated in 1988. Either way, I can’t imagine being 34 years old or 52 years old and thinking this is worthy of memorializing on the internet.

I cheer for our county rivals unless they’re playing the GMen! If it’s the Dawgs & Blues, I usually pull for the Dawgs. I have relatives in Tazewell, lol!

I feel for them, but as the saying goes, they’ve had enough “good years”. It’s someone else’s turn. That being said, the G-Men are showing up, and showing out. I remember when graham had all those down years, now look at them! I’m a bleed green guy, go dawgs all the way. But I love seeing the G-Men do so well. I root for all SWD teams as long as they ain’t playing the dawgs, but just seeing how far Graham has came is awesome.
