futbolking got a reaction from old_school in Tazewell Football
They haven't done any interviews yet. Nobody has been hired yet, told they were going to be hired or anything of the sort. Deadline to apply is December 19th. Interviews will be conducted after Christmas break.
Colobro would be great for Tazewell and it would be nice for him, if he were able to move close to his dad. It would be hard to imagine a more qualified person or better fit for the Bulldogs, but you never know.....
As far as moving to Tazewell.... Tazewell is an awesome place, full of awesome people, no matter what some of the folks from the outside think. The High School is awesome and it is full of awesome kids and they deserve nothing but the best in all areas, not just sports.
We have some special kids in this area folks, not sure how much you guys realize it, but after living in different areas..... it's not even close.

Considering that came directly from his father, I'd say I do have a clue. He said "All I want is for my boys to get a championship ring and that's not going to happen at Ft. Chiswell."

Why would you doubt that he would move to tazewell county? His 90 year old father is 20 minutes away.

Having lived in Farmville for 3 years (20 minutes from Appomattox)... I can say that there is no shortage of athletes in that area. I don't feel like they would need to recruit. I think they just have the right coach.

You sure we are talking about the same Willis? Not the one from Different Strokes...
I'm sure he is a good person and was certainly a great coach. But he ranks right up t here with Phil Robbins in the Popularity Contest.

futbolking reacted to Bigrhsfan in Richlands vs. Appomattox; 2A State Championship Game
I say we leave the kid alone now. He's paying a high price for what he did/didn't do so that's it. No need to keep talking about it. he is a high school kid, granted not for much longer , but for now he is. Richlands will play with what they have and no excuses for whatever outcome happens.

futbolking reacted to tornado99 in Richlands vs. Appomattox; 2A State Championship Game
From the movie Little Giants, "There is always that one time."Appomattox may win 99 out of 100 games between the two teams, but there is only one shot. Sports are a great metaphor for life. Football especially, teaches us to overcome adversity and beat the odds. Anything can happen, and I believe in the Blues. I have read or seen it too many times. David beats Goliath. The Giants beat the Patriots in 2007. Unfortunately, I also remember Harrisonburg over Graham (2001),and Turner Ashby (2005) and Poquoson (2010) over Richlands. Either way, the underdog won.

futbolking got a reaction from MayorBill in Graham's Schedule
Graham played up to AA while having A numbers for 30 + years and somebody wants to complain about their strength of schedule for playing their district games in a district that they were forced to play in. Graham has about 550 students each year. We do realize that 2A is still single A by the old numbers.... t hey just split A, AA and AAA into 2 classifications each and now call it 1A & 2A for the old single A..... Graham is still near the bottom of enrollment in 2A. The 1A teams they played last year included Fort Chiswell, Galax and Narrows (All playoff teams and all better than a lot of 2A teams in this area). I don't understand the criticism.
On a side note, I'm glad to see Princeton and Marion back on the schedule. I always enjoy watching Graham play these those two.
Out of district schedule will include: Giles, Bluefield, Princeton, Central and Marion.... I like it. Will miss playing Galax however, they were always a very good ball club that was well coached. I liked watching them play.
Oh yeah, Graham won 2 state titles in AA while playing schools 2 to 3 times their size.
