There are a couple of articles online which describe the events that led up to this fracas.......  I am not surprised at all....  I agree with hokiebird's assessment above.

Graham gave up 41 + points per game this season, against lesser competition....Don't get me wrong, the MED has made great strides with the emergence of Fort Chiswell and Galax as contenders  in D-1, in addition to Grayson in D-2....
 
But Carlock wouldn't duck anybody.....including the likes of GW Danville, Elizabethton TN, Greeneville TN, Woodrow Wilson (Beckley), Gate City (back in the day),  Patrick Henry of Roanoke, Salem,  Bluefield, of course....Blacksburg, Christiansburg.....etc....  I'm sure some on here can think of other quality opponents that Graham played.  Graham would always scrimmage top notch programs like Pulaski County (in their hay day).... all of this despite having single A numbers the entire time while they played AA.....so dropping to single A is not an excuse here.

Whatever happens, they need to get somebody who can coach defense....that has been the big issue all along....  They need to get somebody that the kids like and respect, as well....
 
It hasn't taken a rocket scientist to beat Graham the past oh.....decade or so..... (They gave up over 41 points per game this season....I'd go out on a limb and say they've given up about 40 points per game over the past 9 seasons on average.....)
 
It's all been about the defense and will coninue to be until somebody can come in and straighten the defense out.
 
 
Tell me how a group of kids can beat a team 58-0 in Middle School and turn around and get beaten by that same group of kids (+ a few of their own and others that transferred in)....to the tune of 40-0 a few years later.
 
The athletes are there, that was evident at the basketball game last night......
 
 

I recall same thing in 89 when Graham beat a bunch of "athletes" from South-Hampton....Graham smash mouthed them to the tune of a 16-0 spanking.... Those boys didn't know what hit them. Gate City was very young last year...they won't be a push over this season. Buckingham may be in for arude awakening.

I have more faith in the G-Men than some of you.  I think the best thing to happen to Graham is that some of these younger guys got some playing time.  I think the problem with Graham this year has been 1. Youth and 2. The serious lack of leadership...whether that be coaching or players on the field not stepping up....or whatever.... 
 
A couple of leaders seem to have emerged in Workman and Lee....The young kids replacing those who are / were injured have something to prove.... Graham is basically a J.V. team with a few juniiors added in there.  Only one senior that plays sees significant playing time at this point (If he is even back, haven't heard much about him lately).  Graham should be awesome in the near future with these kids getting the experience on the field that they are now... I like what I have seen since the Galax game.  The biggest improvement I have seen since early in the season is attitude....and to quote a line from Remember the Titans...."attitude reflects leadership"...... If you have no leaders on your team and you have a piss poor attitude and just lay down for other teams, you get what you get.  You don't quit on your team because you don't like the coach.
 
 
This is probably the youngest team graham has ever had...yet all they hear from the community is how bad the team is...15/16 year olds against 17/18 year olds usually come out on the losing end.... No matter who the coach is.    I for one am tired of hearing it.  
 
Now if only the attitude of the community and fans could get back on track.... we may be onto something.
 
 
Gate City May beat them....maybe badly....but I don't expect Graham to just show up and hand them the game either, they will play hard until the end....regardless of the outcome.

LB has a strong team.  Glenvar has a good program this year, but I was surprised to see them beat LB.  I'm still taking LB to win, but it may be closer than I expected.  I saw a statement that LB would be the best team that Richlands plays this season, I believe the team that Richlands plays the following week may have something to say about that.....Richlands has a beast of a schedule the next 2 weeks. 
 
Richlands has lost to 2 quality teams....I wouldn't let the 40-0 win over Graham give you too much confidence...Graham hasn't been able to stop anybody.  Grundy may put up 30 on Graham this week.
 
I believe that Richlands has a quality team, but they have a beast of a schedule, if they manage to make it to the playoffs....playing these good teams is to their advantage.

Heard today that RHS has a new kid from Florida.  Man, Mance is reaching out all over the country for kids now.  lol.  Heard the kid is a real speed back or receiver.  Any of you RHS guys confirm?

I'll say Bluefield 50 something....Richland's 20 something....

Dead on not to mention the non holding calls they had on their next to last td. Even with that said the problems were GW was running he same play over and over and they didn't stop it. Plus the fact that two receivers were continuously given an 8 yd cushion. Should have lit up the short passing game all night.
 
I think it was the perfect loss as far as getting the players heads back to the ground and in the game before two very tough physical games.
 
Kudos to GW for making their halftime adjustment and doing what it takes. Their program should be back in place soon enough.

Going to go out on a limb and make a prediction.  This game will be within 10 points.  I will go 35-31 in favor of Giles.  Graham has a head coaching problem in my opinion only, not a talent problem. When you have issues with the culture of a program (influenced and greatly effected for better or worse by the head coach of any program) then a team can use this positive culture-coaching to overcome some lack of talent issues, or a team can use this to undercut some solid talent issues.   But, every so often, great talent can rear its ugly head for one given game and overcome a cultural problem like the one for the G-men.  The Pioneers felt this all to well last year again the G-men.

I agree with GMan. As far as football is concerned.....WVVA would rather travel to every corner of West Virginia, instead of  make a short trip to Wytheville ,Fort Chiswell, Rural Retreat or Marion to film local teams when they play at those locations.  About the only place you will ever see them have hi-lights in Virginia are Narrows, Giles, Tazewell and Richlands.(route 460)....I think they are afraid to hit I-77 South....
 
If you all recall, WVVA didn't have hi-lights of Bluefield vs. Graham this year.....both of their "local" teams.  (Technical difficulties...are you kidding me?).....WVNS had hi-lights of that game too....

Hold on a minute...it's nearly impossible to schedule all 2A teams.  There is not much difference in enrollment between 1A and 2A....they are all pretty much what used to be classified as single A in Virginia.
 
There are a lot of 1A schools around this area that are better than a lot of 2A school.  That's just an excuse that you can now use if you get beaten.
