Thanks goodness.  Not thankful for the broken rib, but definitely thankful for what could have been or the alternative.  Ribs hurt like the Devil when broken and healing, but sounds like he will do fine. 

Got word from his mom this morning. Broken rib.  Lots of precautions were taken.  He wanted to keep playing but when he left I was hoping it was just a bad stinger. Really wasn’t expecting a rib injury at all.

They also passed up a former player that is currently the Co offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Chestnut Hill College. A former Auburn player that played college football and became a college coach. He's a young coach that could probably turn the program around. Not entirely sure what they would want in a coach if that wasn't it?

Bandana you are always professional in your posts and I enjoy your insight on this board. I was thinking Auburn would hire out of house and bring in someone who is known for building programs. The current coach may do so. I don't know much about him. I just know a former head coach who was rumored to have applied that would have been a great hire for Auburn.

I respect your opinion Hokie Bound and you may know well more than me about Auburn, but I'm going to guess a different route.  Unless that coach wants to leave, he can stay as long as he wants.  I'm beginning to wonder if Auburn powers that be is actually Comfortable with having a poor football program.  I know this sounds crazy, but I believe it, or I'm beginning to believe it.  I believe there are some in power that if they had a gun to their heads, they want the football program to go away, but obviously they know there are going to be some kids at Auburn and their parents that want a football program, so they are between a rock and hard place.  Why do I have this somewhat "conspiratorial" view?  Because they are basically solid in everything from horse shoes to hand grenades to badminton. Anything they play in, they do very well, as in.....often a threat for deep playoff runs and even winning the whole thing.  They have the numbers in their student body.  They have the athletes.  They have the money.  They have the brains.  They have all of this necessary foundation wise to be very good in football, so that's my take.  They are actually comfortable with the new coach. 

I will take the train horn to Honaker. Just ask Appomattox. We will travel to the west coast if needed over someone that disrespects the horn 😂

Well, he is the same superintendent that whined and threatened a lawsuit if the VHSL moved Grayson to 2A. If it comes down to them & Honaker in the playoffs, Honaker will chew them up and spit them out. Then he can post , Marked safe from having to travel to Salem.

At this point, I'm not sure anyone truly knows what their team has this season. Game outcomes have been all over the place. Some teams falling short and others overachieving. I'm sure both Union and Graham fans see their team's positives and potential while still worrying about shortcomings.
I do believe that after this Friday night we'll be a lot more confident in our respective team's place in the pecking order.

I didn't expect Daddy ball to be so bad when I came back to the region.  It is everywhere and at every level and in all sports, to include high school. Throw in nepotism like I've never seen.  This region almost has a bubble around it that protects these practices.  Qualifications seem to be frowned upon in preference for someone "who understands the area".  Player development (in specific sports domain and in personal/character) should be THE penultimate goal followed by winning. There is no third on the list....maybe empowering community and school spirit.  Player development is severely lacking which is why the area is under-recruited and those that are recruited don't last long.   Our kids get to college and are just so far behind the development curve. 
How do you fix it?  Join leagues that require affiliation and coaching certification (Pop Warner, USA football, etc.).  Set up camps and have open competitions for positions.  That will stop a lot of this Daddy Ball BS. When "coaches" who never played, aren't certified, think concussion protocols are hooey and have never coached at any organized school-sponsored level start showing up in middle school, JV and high school....we have problems.  This is why DBs aren't taught basic press or off-man coverage, why WRs and QBs don't understand modern passing concepts and gunners don't cover split outs on punt formations. 

Auburn was able to put up 40 points in one half and shut the Rockets out who led 18-14. Their head coach posted this on fbook.
“Rocket Nation, I very humbly apologize for the egg we laid tonight. We were flat and could not get out of our own way. We looked nothing like the first 3 halves of football we played this year. That's on me. We look forward to rebounding and giving a better effort this Friday.”
I respect this guy. Rarely do you ever see high school coaches taking ownership like this even though it likely wasn’t his or the other coaches fault judging by the amount of points given up. Im not saying it’ll ever happen, but I would love to see that program succeed. Being one of the smallest schools in the state definitely has them at a disadvantage.
