Absolutely. East would beat Battle or Lee by 15 plus. 

Fuente is a Gary Patterson disciple. He knows that staying at Virginia Tech is a much better situation than the pressure that comes along a job like Florida State. Plus, having Bud Foster as your DC is a luxury that Fuente would not have at FSU and Babcock is one of the best AD's in the country. 

In boy's basketball and baseball the answer is definitely no. Both of those coaches have had enough time to build a winning program and it hasn't happened. I thought Owens was the answer in football after he was successful early but the past two years have been bad, injuries or no injuries. Wise's best bet is to ask Robin Dotson to coach every sport they offer.

I'd go Ridgeview on this one. Battle has got their wins off a really weak schedule of Holston, PH, Wise Central, and Lebanon. Rick Mullins with an extra week to prepare gives the Wolfpack the edge. 

The only foundation Reed laid was uniting the Wise community in disliking him and most of his staff quitting on him. Look at the turnover on his staff at Abingdon this year. I don't give any credit of Wise's success to Reed unless their dislike of him lit a fire under the players and coaches to prove he was the problem. 
Last year he had 20 plus seniors and lost to a bad Northside team in the first round of the playoffs. This year their schedule is weak. I would love to see him back at Gate City but I doubt they would hire him.

Gate City has the talent but that talent is focusing on basketball. If McClung and Ervin were in the backfield or at wide receiver Gate City wins a lot more games just off their athleticism. The success of the basketball program is hurting the football team. Akers needs to recruit those kids to football or they will continue to struggle.

An athlete of this caliber comes around SWVA every once in a decade or more. Get out and see this young man while you still can. Should be Calvin Talford type crowds wherever Gate City plays this year.

I don't believe this Gate City team had a ton of talent. The Houserights exceeded expectations with their win-loss record but they should never lose to a team that only won 5 games on the season. The year she lost to Wise Central and Dotson in the state finals after beating him 4 times before that game should have been her last year as the head coach at Gate City. When you think of all the talent that has come thru that program to not have won a state title it is overwhelming.

A) It doesn't matter. They will lose to Union or Gate City in round 2 of the tournament just like they did twice in the regular season.
 
B) If they took care of business by beating Wise Central on their home court then none of this would have taken place.

Abingdon is done. Reed by himself will be a disaster just like it was at Wise Central.
