I'm not what you could call a die hard Giles fan but I love watching them play. The first time they played Glenvar, I do think the refs determined the outcome. Tonight, Glenvar just showed that they had the better team. As a mutual observer the officiating was great. Both teams got penalized and the calls were all obvious. #7 for Glenvar is just an amazing athlete. Some of those catches he had you would see at the NFL level. And hats off to Glenvar's defense once again. They gave Giles great field position all night but Giles could not do anything with it. Their coach called a few questionable plays but Glenvar was just too much. Keep your head up Spartans, yall did a lot better than expected. Glenvar, congrats. Best defense I have seen in years.

1. Appomattox by 21 (unbeaten at 10-0; and beat Dan River 35-7 in week 6 )
 
2. Richlands by 14 ( Buckingham is winning by 47 to 14 margin; lost to unbeaten Appox by14-7 in 1st gm of season)
 
3. Glenvar by 7 ( Hard to beat Glenvar at home with strong defense)
 
4. Graham by 3 ( Very Hot team, capable of this upset )

Upset alert? If Giles wins this game I really wouldn't call it an upset. Both teams are really good and if you saw the first game between them this year it went to final secsonds. I know Glenvar is higher seed but very equal teams.

I think we'll give them a much greater challange than they're expecting, especially if Bradley can get the ball to Sewell. But yes, Glenvar will prevail in the end; unless something crazy happens like 2013 when we shocked Gretna

Pretty remarkable what the offense has done especially going up against strong competition. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Graham played 4 teams this year that finished the season 9-1 (BlFD, Richlands', Abingdon, Giles). What stands out even more there was only one game this season in which they weren't in "Richlands". Back to the topic, I'm glad to see Graham putting up points and beating teams the way they are suppose to. Averaging 55 points in the MED is what they are supposed to do year in and year out, I'm glad to see that finally happening now that Palmer is there. As for the 411 points that is credited to good coaching and having playmakers with speed. Palmer and the coaching staff have done an excellent job in putting players in the correct spots/positions to make plays. My brother is a senior on this years team, I asked him before the season started where did he see this team? what were his goals? Of course he stated win a State title and all the things you expect every kid to say. But he said one thing that sticks out to me, he stated I want to be part of the Senior class that brings Graham High School & Bluefield Virginia back to relevance. I believe they have done that, I'm very proud of this team and hopefully they continue this season with a big showing this upcoming Friday at James River.

How are both teams health wise? I know RV lost key contributors early, and I have read posts mentioning possible injuries to running backs on Friday. I seem too remember posts of a significant Giles injury in recent weeks as well, unless I am mistaken.

I just got back from the trip I had to make to Alabama for the funeral of my close family member and i just wanted to thank all of you that kept us in your thoughts & prayers and for all well wishes I got on here.  I know this has nothing to do with football,  but I just wanted to thank you all !

Amherst is 4A and Appomattox is 2A. Amherst likely doesn't have kids going both ways. I think they will wear down Appomattox. Could be close early, but eventually it will catch up to Appomattox. Amherst 32 Appomattox 14

Giles should beat Auburn by atleast 4 touchdowns. That Nelson kid is a brute, but hes definitely not the best rb Giles has seen this season. If Auburn had any type of passing game then the game might get interesting but you wont beat Giles by trying to run up the middle all night. They dont have the biggest line but them boys are quick and get after the ball.

Fellas lets not argue about what happened years ago. Its over and done with, Lets focus on the next 6 weeks. probably the most exciting post season that 2A will ever have. No need to bad mouth each other, especially over something that is way in the past. Lets focus on the present and the future for these great football teams. When Powell Valley was around, yes I heard many negative things about that program but I see Union as complete opposite. They have a good coach, good team, and a lot of class. Giles has a good coach, good team, and a lot of class. Would love to see these 2 teams meet up. Instead of arguing and getting hot headed, we should be getting excited for whats to come!

Well, after watching you last year at FALCON HILL, and some highlights of you this year, it’s more like “SNORE WARNING!†I yawn at the notion that you are on the level of my FALCONS!  What is there to do over there in Richlands besides go to Walmart, eat fast food, and sit your fat arses in front of a tv & become inspired by the former Kardashian star Bruce Jenner.  I bet the WHOLE TOWN  haS special viewings of  his new show “I AM KAT†at the local pizza store or movie theatre (if you have one).  Let me go ahead and patton this hash tag #snorewarning.  Twitter will be buzzing tomorrow night with that one boys. Questions for the game: can the Falcons win the special team battle?  Can the naders slow down the Falcon Express?  With speed and precision on our Offense we are probably going to OFFEND the onlookers and maybe even inspire a few naders to believe in the FALCONS.  WE’RE NOT 7-0 FOR NOTHING!!  Just ask Christiansburg,  faster than lightning and precise as surgeon worked on Adrain Petterson’s knee.  Sources were quoted saying – “Doc you realize you’re working on a $50 milion knee, don’t you need some help, a wingman? PS:  Who is Union?

Will Grant play? I heard he had a high ankle sprain. However, I don't the severity of the sprain. High ankle sprain usually depending on the severity of the sprain usually take 4-6 weeks to heal. I do wish him a speedy recovery. He is a fantastic player.

I agree Swvafan72, Holmes, Wade, and Addison all have Allstate potential. I would put Richlands defense over any other. They have the offense to go with it. Union and Richlands are top two in the state in my opinion. All of the top five are good, but if any of them underestimate these two they will quickly regret it.

Why call a kid a classless prick!? Maybe cause Giles couldnt stop him?

Evidently not. Played 2 games in a week and still could of easily won. I think they showed up nicely. Got tired in the fourth. A play here or there and Giles wins. Glenvar is good but don't think they can't be defeated. That's all I was trying to point out.

If Glenvar is the Floyd Mayweather of 2a then how come they were taken to the wire by a Giles team that lost 20 seniors. Sorry but I don't see the analogy

Union last year and Union this year are two completely different animals..
