Graham vs Union Region 2D Championship 2023

Graham should mix up their offense a little as some have eluded. Try some new things, stop being so predictable (coming from someone who has never coached a day in his life), lol. I also wonder if the X factor for Graham will even be Clements ? You have to bet Union is defense planning around him. There’s a couple others that could make some big plays too! I think Edwards has had a heck of a season. Jennings can make plays and Floyd plays hard every snap he’s in the game. Other players that could be difference makers Graham, Lilly, & Hale. The Fix kid has had some good moments too. The Gate City game the QB was okay but he had to contend with cold & pouring rain. He’s got a strong arm. I hope he has the game of the season Saturday but OLine has to do their job. They had several come out against Gate City and a couple never returned. They may be down another starter or two Saturday in addition to the several already out. . Young guys on OL are going to have to show up and show off to have a chance to beat a solid Union team. 
With all that said, I give Union the edge and Graham slight underdog. I hope GMen pull the upset but if not I’ll be cheering Union on in the state semis against Radford. (I’d be shocked if it was Glenvar).

You know what’s missing from this thread? A stroll down memory lane…can we not get a new video produced before Saturday by those Union guys that made the last one? Liven things up a bit! 😂😂😂 They say the Internet is forever, where’s that video when we need it? 😂😂😂 Those were the good ole days!

Are you talking about the video about how great Graham is and how Union is really the underdog Saturday?

The one talking about how the GMen could stay up all night Friday celebrating their certain victory at The Park and they'd still cruise to an easy win?

i think these teams are so close that it might come down to the kicking game. if that happens union is at a disadvantage.

Not so fast we’re now making 50% of our extra points and kicking the ball all the way to the 40.  Progress lol!!!  Graham shouldn’t even bother when we return kicks though we hold every time anyways.  Last Saturday one of our kids looked like he was trying to steal one of the Tazewell kids jersey.  Maybe that was the reason the mom got so mad

Reminds me of when William Campbell beat them 72-0 in state.  He quoted we pulled out our shotguns and they pulled out their damn machine guns.  The guy definitely had some one liners

I certainly underestimated the 2023 Union Bears with my early season prediction of an 8 and 4 final record for them at at this point in the year. But I based that prognostication on the difficult schedule they were facing and the large number of starters who were sophomores. But in hindsight the 2023 Bears were a team that was probably closer to a 12-0 team than an 8-4 team. The sophomores played great all year, the defense was really good, and Ray Anderson had an exceptional year at quarterback. I am not going to predict how much farther they will go; but I am convinced, at this point, they have the talent to win three more games. But any deep run in the VHSL playoffs usually requires a lucky bounce or two!

I thought the same thing with the record but the biggest thing that made them better than most thought was the qb play.  Kid has really improved his passing from last season even though he was off a little vs Tazewell.

You can tell when a game is going to be close by the lack of smack talk and team bragging. 

Union and Graham folks too scared to say much because they don't want to wash down that Thursday turkey with some Saturday evening crow. Haha

Everyone knows that Union should be playing GC this week. Devils had that game in the bag, tied 7-7 at halftime with the GMen until...they hit the turbo button on Clements in the 2nd half.

If we’re being completely honest Tazewell had Union against the wall until those interceptions. I mean if we’re talking cheating, intercepting on the 1 yard line when the other team is threatening to score. That’s just plain wrong. Graham should be getting a free spin here after the regular season game with Union. Anytime , GMen are on the 1 yard line, Union should just escort us into end zone for the TD. It’s the least they can do since we’re their guests. Hospitality means a lot especially in the south. 

Seriously, Graham will need to play flawless to win and defense be quick, wrap up & hit hard stop Chandler, Anderson, & Huff.  No trickery with the Bostic kid throwing TDs to Anderson either 😂. That’s cheating 😂.

Rumor has it that since the Michigan coach has the week off, he's coming to Bullitt Park to scout. He heard about all of this cheating and had to get in on it.

I heard Ric Flair decided to lead the Bears into the park riding the fire truck and instead of the band playing at halftime, they’ll be a ring set up on the 50 yard line & with Flair and Michigan coach as guest refs , all the Richlands applicants will wrestle, single elimination , winner takes the reins at the Big R. Wooooooo!
