  3. I would be very tempted to drive and watch that game. I know Rye Cove has been a hot mess for a long time now, but they can't possibly be worse than Jenkins. Can they?

  4. Brandon Looney, a rising senior at Honaker High School, died following a work related accident Wednesday, July 19th in Lebanon. The 18-year old Looney was a honored member of Honaker High School's Varsity Baseball team, having received 1st team All-Conference 3rd Baseman, 1st Team All-Region 3rd Baseman and was a Group 1A 1st team All-State selection on the diamond. He was a 2nd Team member of the All-Four Seasons Country team released on Sunday. Looney had already graduated from Russell County Career and Technology Center with a certificate in Auto Mechanics according to his obituary. It stated that baseball was his "passion", but his "lifelong dream was to become an auto mechanic and own his own shop." Prayers for Brandon's family, teammates and community. A life well lived but short. Funeral services are scheduled for tomorrow July 23rd. "Go rest high on that mountain Brandon"

    Another to soon goodbye

Michael Watkins who was a member of the Virginia High School Bearcats football and baseball teams, graduating in 2016, tragically passed away Sunday morning July 23rd from an auto accident. My pastor, preached a message about our life which resonated deeply in my spirit. He ask the question, "What is your message"? Will your life be a story, few may tell, or will it be a message that you have lived and will impact others? Here we have two young lives gone to early, Brandon Looney and now Michael Watkins. From what I gather these young men left a message with their short lives. A message of dedication to their sport, goodness, goals to reach for and most of all a love for their Lord. I heard this song today and I thought how appropriate to share with their message. It is by Masters Voice and is entitled "How Long A Lifetime Is." This is a portion of the lyrics. "Never take the day for granted, cherish every memory No one knows for certain what the next tomorrow may bring So hold your love ones tightly, treat each moment as a gift Never know how long a lifetime is" REST WELL MICHAEL AND BRANDON

I would like to think better for us but honestly have no idea what to expect. Expectations aren't great but who knows what will happen. All I ask for is some defense this year...

Heartbreaking moment for everybody. Heck of a game and shame it had to end that way, which I might add was questionable from many perspectives...but more of a shame because that missed XP was the last thing from TJ Rasnick and we all know the story there.

  11. Yes, I know it's still a long way from the last week of December, but since announcements are being made about the tournament, figured I would go ahead and make a thread. Eastside will join Gate City as SWVA reps in the Arby's Classic this year. All I can say is I hope that Eastside does better than the last 1A SWVA school in the Arby's (Hurley).

And like I said in my original post, pure hatred. I always hated Powell Valley and I'll always hate Union. Rivals hate each other, I'll continue to do so.

Don't forget Mike Compton from Richlands. He was recruited to several D1 schools and went on to play for WVU and was drafted by the Lions, and won 2 Super Bowls with the Patriots, and I think he was before Thomas Jones.
