I consider it an upset because Glenvar is the defending champs that returned 90% of their team where as Giles lost 14 starters. Yes, Giles is a great team, but I dont think anyone predicted them to be 10-1 right now.

I think Giles was the better team last year also but Glenvar was better that Saturday and took advantage of breaks....this year I feel Glenvar is a better team but the difference between the two isn't as big as last year IMO....and I also agree I didn't see Giles at 10-1 at this point in the season either.....hats off to coach Williams and his staff...they have done a great job this year in what I considered as a rebuilding year

If Union takes Graham lightly then they will be put on upset alert. Once graham gets a head of steam they are dangerous. I'm taking Richlands over Buckingham in what could be a shootout. Giles and Glenvar is definitely the game of the week. Should be another low scoring game. Both teams should have all players healthy. With good weather and good officiating, I say that Giles pulls the upset. People wouldn't consider it an upset but I would considering that Glenvar is the defending Champs that returned almost everyone and Giles lost 14 starters. These are just my opinions, we will know for sure next weekend!

This game was complete domination. I am glad that I chose this game despite it being a blowout. Ridgeview had some big guys, and almost 60 players but Giles was just firing on all cylinders tonight. I'd say they had close to 400 yards rushing with 4-5 different guys scoring touchdowns. And they're defense just swarmed to the ball on every play. Looks like they will be going to Glenvar next week for a rematch. Great season Ridgeview, I do believe yall are going to be a force in the next few years

I love seeing this mutual respect that Richlands and Abingdon has for one another. I don't know much about Abingdon but I think Richlands has some of the most respectful fans of any school. Congrats to both teams for advancing and good luck next week!

Their running back is a stud. Transfer from Florida or North Carolina. Do not give him any open space. He just has the build of a really great running back. They also have a really fast wide receiver. He's not that tall but if he gets a step on you he won't be caught.

If Giles gets past Ridgeview and Glenvar beats VA High. I don't know what Giles can do to beat Glenvar. Glenvar held Giles to under 100 rushing I don't see that being any different. If Giles can force a few turnovers and get good field position they would have a good chance.

We just have some spoiled fans to be honest....I appreciate what the coaching staffs for both Ragsdale and Williams have done that's for sure....we have been a pretty consistant program over the years and that's all you can ask....and there are plenty of teams that would love to have 4 state titles....some have more than us but there are tons that don't have anywhere near 4

Graham was giving Giles all they wanted until Cousins got hurt. Im not sure what happened with the Richlands game

I didnt make that game but I know Bland jumped out to a quick 20-0 lead......just dont think Grayson was ready to play and Bland was 

I can think of two teams in 2A west that like to spread it around.....not saying they can't be stopped, but it won't be easy.

From one veteran, to those others that have served, thank you for your sacrifice and dedication!  Have a wonderful day and it's only 60 hours or so until playoff football starts!

They have parking in the grass area beside the tennis court, all around the school, student and teacher parking lot but usually many people park down at Walmart and walk up there and they park along the side of the road on the main drag. The home side seating is opposite side from the entrance. And they have the best concession stand food I've eaten! And I think it's cheaper than most places

In this system we have now a 9-1 team would never miss the playoffs unless they played a schedule where none of the teams they beat won any games....that was in the region system where district champs automatically made the playoffs. And I didn't think that was right either
 
And I could be wrong but the year Glenvar missed the playoffs at 9-1 I think Giles was 10-0 that year....I'm pretty sure it was a game between 2 9-0 teams that year in Pearisburg....I could be wrong without checking
 
And I just think you could cut down on some major travel by eliminating the cross-bracketing....everyone has their opinion on it I guess and nobody is right or wrong
 
And is it really right or fun to watch 1-9 or 0-10 teams make the playoffs? I mean seriously if you win 0% or 10% of your games do you really deserve to make the playoffs? I say NO

Yes i remember  back in 05 or 06 Glenvar was 9-1, and did not make playoffs and there only loss was to a 9-1 Giles team by a score of 21-14 but then Grayson made it into the playoffs with a 5-5 record that year. We can't go back to this format.

Well VHSL will keep it at a 32 team playoff and after seeing an 8-2 and 2 9-1 teams miss the playoffs due auto bids for district champs I am 100% OK 1 extra round in the playoffs......I also like the cross bracketing I say each region starts with 8 teams after 2 rounds cross bracket with the other West Region for 1 round then the other side of the state for the next round. Lastly the State game should get rotated between the regions. The shorter trips would result in larger crowds and less travel expense while keeping the cross bracketing will keep a region with 2 powerhouse teams from knocking each other out early in the playoffs
