Don't get me wrong because I think Chilhowie is a really good team.  They'll beat my Canes going away on Friday.  
And let me start by saying this is not a criticism but a genuine observation.  IMHO, there is something missing about this team (and last year's) that I can't quite identify. When I think of really good CHS teams from the past (1970, 1971, 1980, 1981, 1996, 2001, 2008, and 2010), I don't see this team on the same level.  The experience, talent, speed, and athleticism all seem to be there.  They're not big but neither were the great teams from the past.  I don't know if it's a lack of execution, physicality, mental toughness, energy... It just doesn't seem like the hard-nosed Warrior teams I'm used to seeing over the years.

Jugs of sweet tea.  I dont imbibe.  As an alumnus and someone who coached some of those men in baseball before I am very happy they were able to end the streak.  Coach Toney has put everything he has in him into trying to get that first W as a head coach, but is an even better person from what I have been around him.  It is well deserved as it wasnt a case of the streak happening because people didnt care.  Those who didnt jumped off the wagon already.

First win on the gridiron for Scott County schools in 2017! 

I hope everybody on this board was a Rye Cove Eagle fan tonight!! Congrats to Coach Toney and the Eagles! He’s one of the good guys and they deserved to break that streak!

Our OL looked awful good and backs looked good as well...may just have to win shootouts until these young kids get some game experience

Marion easily handled Twin Valley and Rye Cove.   Neither team scored. 

Didn't Rockbridge County play in it the year they played Richlands for state? Mayo I think was the qb's name? 
 
I feel like I remember watching Gretna play there too when they were dominating 

Chilhowie 40, Holston 30, PH 34, NW 35

Northwood's old gym left only a couple of feet from the playing surface to the first row of bleachers.  That made it pretty intense atmosphere. Their "new" gym is pretty cool, plenty of seating and the visual effect of a sunken floor.
I didn't attend many games in other facilities. 

UVA Wise/Emory & Henry - should happen every year. How these schools let this series get cancelled is a mind blower from a financial stand point. 
JIB/Wise Central - Great historical rivalry. Norton and Wise will always be a heated contest. 
 

Union/Abingdon - this is the first year of this matchup. And it's probably only because Abingdon is now in the district. 
Gate City/Marion - glad this one is back it. I guess it has always made too much sense to play Marion. 2017 will be the first time these 2 have met since 2000! 
Gate City/Graham - it may happen if Akers sticks around at GC with his connections at Graham. I wouldn't mind it. 
 

We have people discussing rivalry games they look forward to watching this season. We have threads about worst places to watch a game and the best. What about teams between whom we wouldn't mind seeing matchups?

Union vs. Giles.
Gate City vs. Giles
Gate City vs. Graham (I know the two teams used to play but I would like to see the rivalry renew).
 
Wouldn't mind a yearly series between Richlands and Giles, myself.
