Where are these announcers getting that Harner used to be on the staff at Riverheads?

I have a lot of questions for GWs coaching staff. Waiting forever to call a play has done cost GW twice already

Wow the butthurt is strong this one , he is always arguing with people and more times than not he is wrong. And he seems to always have back handed comments toward you for some reason. It must suck to go through life so angry all the time .
 What kind of an arrogant —— do you have to be to assume that your opinion is a blanket statement for everyone on this board. There is multiple people on here who posts on both boards. The other is not as lively but there is some good info on the eastern teams and some very good posters on there.

All 6 will be live but the announcers won’t know the teams very well other than their pregame packet that they get. I suggest finding a local radio station from the team you most closely follow that’s steaming it if you want a more personalized account of the game. The NFHS guys are decent but there is definitely a disconnect at times since they don’t know the kids. 

They have caught considerable hell on here since petitioning to play down.
Their limited success wont earn them the same scorn but whatever success they have next season will be tainted by playing down.

Other than the 2016 season when Galax was ridiculously young, I thought Galax matched them strength for strength but couldn't hold up for 4 quarters because of the seemingly unlimited supply of players Riverheads can put on the field. Galax didn't have the depth to stay as fresh as Riverheads and got worn down as the game progressed. I would say the exactl same thing about the 2018 Chilhowie team. They matched up well starter for starter but couldn't match the depth. 

I will say this for those saying they can’t compete against two teams , you better believe they can. They do it week in and week out now. Are those the cream of the 2 A crop? No but Buffalo gap is certainly no slouch.  They won against the tazwells and Glenvars each time they played them. Will they dominate like they have in 1A  that remains to be seen but it won’t be as easy as a road. My opinion they will make final four for many years to come. 
 
as far as people complaining about the numbers and claiming they will have an asterisk beside their name. To be honest a majority of the state feels that way and feel very strongly about it. Right wrong or indifferent, although the RH admin did nothing but fan those  flames. The request to play down in 1A just solidified those beliefs. Again right or wrong that is the case. 
Either way they was fun and maddening to watch at the same time. Lol
 

His comment was toward the Essex coaching staff, not Grundy's.
For what it's worth, I can't speak for an entire town, but pretty much everyone I know has had nothing but glowing things to say about the Grundy team, staff, and even more so, it's fan base. Feel how you want about us or anyone along the SWVA I-81 corridor....I'm not here to try and change your mind. However, I'll root for Grundy in any sport as long as they aren't playing GW.

Yes, u watch their film and a lot of times they have at least 2 lineman pulling. Then sometimes add the 2 in the backfield or the QB turning to block and u have 5 blockers on 2 or 3 defenders until u get past the LoS. Ive rarely seen teams pull one lineman much less multiple. Definitely gotta have quick big boys that are in shape. Would definitely be fun to coach against that and face the challenge as a coach 

GW gave Union all they wanted when it was 1s vs 1s. The final score looked better for Union because the Bears had a lot more depth, very talented 9th graders at that. I thought the 1s vs 1s was very, very even myself. I bragged on GW quite a bit on here after that benefit game.

IMO GW runs a similar offensive set but I feel the Maroons QB keeps the ball and runs more frequently. I believe it will be a good game and closer than some might think regardless of who wins. GW does some things very well that Essex does not. That’s not to take away from Essex but they became very predictable yesterday whereas I feel GW has become more dangerous as they have gotten everyone back. 
 
And Essex did turn it over 5 times but some were at least in part due to Riverheads D. Can’t expect that every game but the Gladiators don’t generally turn it over 2 times either. 

Easy there fuzzball don’t get so worked up you give yourself a stroke.  First of all just take a look back through all these threads and you will see I am not in the minority here. Even the loyal GW posters have been screaming it for years. So there’s that. It’s all on tape to view and written about more times than I can count. 
 
To answer your one simple question .I have done my time coaching one year as a grad assistant in college and 8 years high school. Loved it as far as making it to 7 state championships ? never claimed that but I did make it to two Southern Conference  championships in college  one as a coach, one as player.
But bottom line money!!! It doesn’t pay enough!! God bless those that do. These guys start in august spend at least 4 hours a day after the work their regular job and if they make it deep in  playoffs, all the way to December. And the assistants get roughly 1500 per season and the head coach won’t even break six figures. A few do but a very few. The community found out the new head coach at Grayson is getting paid 80k a couple weeks back and they are calling for the super intendants head on a stick. So yeah good times.

Well since you know so much football and are such a good judge of coaches and players, I have one simple, easy question. Why are you not the Head Coach at George Wythe? I guess if you were the Head Coach, George Wythe would be going for their seventh consecutive State Football Championship instead of Riverheads.  Well, is that so?

@Optimal62 I agree completely. All the runners just kept driving their legs. There was some big time hitting going on today too. I have to say, that is a damn good Essex team that I watched today and it was within reach in the 4th quarter. That quarter started 14-8 so it was still in doubt and frankly they had a good drive to start the 3rd but fumbled it deep in our end. Could have ended differently if only… I say that respectfully because that team played their hearts out too, so congrats on their season and helluva a game. 

Yes & a great coffee shop beside them “The Grind” that left Bluefield has a shop right beside them and up the street Moondog Pizza is good. 

I may be wrong ? but Riverheads by 35 . I may eat crow but i can BBQ it if needed .
