The animosity is towards the topic of this thread I believe.  Look at the title!  No one who knows the M7 isn’t surprised by the fact that 3 SWD teams won last night.  Apparently he is though.  It’s not the M7 teams fault that typically, year in and year out, is better from top to bottom than the SWD is.  No one, that I’ve seen, has came into the region sayin the M7 was going to sweep the first round.  The only team this year is Union.  M7 is down and it showed last night.  Great job to the teams that won and good luck the rest of the way.

As stated here multiple times, until the Little League program has a complete overhaul to get kids interested at an earlier age, there won’t be much success.  GC needs multiple seasons like last year to build momentum and attract players walking the halls while developing the elementary age kids at the same time.

I don't think the problem is that they dropped down. The problem is their coach has access to an unfair advantage and used that to load a team up of kids that definitely don't live in the area. He's apart of the team loaded va aau program and has connections with those players. Some of those guys that played definitely don't live in inter-richmond limits. I know Scotty knew how it was gonna play out on the court way before the game was even played so I don't think he was upset about getting spanked. We've gotten spanked in the Arby's Classic by way worse so that's not the gripe. As he said the TSSAA has done things to prevent this exact situation. He was fine till John Marshalls coach basically told on himself in the press conference lol

In no way am I a Gate City fan but what John Marshall did should make them ineligible to compete in the VHSL. An AAU coach should not be allowed to to lead that and a high school team in my opinion. It creates an unfair advantage by blatantly recruiting players to create a super team.

GC girls up 30-26 at the half.

The game is on YouTube, just search Radford vs wise central.  I watched some of it and based on how physical it was the whole game the no call was pretty consistent on how they called the parts I seen.  Central was very physical off the ball on Cormany and hardly ever was called for a foul.  One guy was running through screens and maybe one foul was called on him.  A still picture can make it look worse then what it really is. The live feed didn’t look all that bad but like I said it played into how the game was called.

IF John Marshall doesn’t win the state championship, how many years will it take for the movie to be made documenting the Hickory-esq upset of the ages?

Fair enough.  But when you don’t have a dedicated thread for the girls, then this can happen.  FWIW, as imbalanced as the boys’ 2A tourney is in favor of the East, the girls’ tourney is just as strongly in favor of the West.  Some fantastic girls’ athletics on this end of the state.

My opinion is as long as there is time left on the clock, a foul is a foul and it should be called.  I get you don’t want to have a ref decide a game but rules are rules.  This was obviously a foul and should have been called.

Wish I could say but I have not seen Radford or Gate City this year. 
 
East Rock runs through Nickel. He is 6’7, handles the ball well, has good range and gets to the rim pretty much at will (so far). 
 
McNair controls their game as the PG. Very quick and physical. More of a drive and dish player than a jump shooter. Great defensive player. 
 
Evick (6’6) sometimes starts but often comes off the bench. His range is really good and apparently has the green light from anywhere. He’s a tough match up on offense but a liability on defense. 
 
The supporting cast seems to know their role. They go 8-9 deep. 
 
Upsetting JM will be a TALL order but I don’t think it is outside the realm of possibility.  JM could also win by 20-25 so who knows?
 
Just from what I read on here and other forums, sounds like Gate City would be the better match up against East Rock.

I get that. Just pointing out, I agree with your assessment. It’s a shame because at any other juncture of the game, a foul would have been called on either one of two players. End game situations shouldn’t be treated differently.

First things first, JM can only play one of either Radford or GC not both.  Sorry to disappoint you in the fact that they won’t be able to kick both of their asses.  Secondly, how is that not bagging on two of the teams covered by your board?  You “can’t wait” for that to happen?
It’s no secret, JM is the overwhelming favorite but dang.

They don’t cross until the championship so if both GC and Wise advance, GC would be the home team and likely play at VA High again.  Same for the girls, Union would be home team and likely play at UVA-Wise.
