Every game no matter who wins you can count on the losing team and/or fan base complaing about the refs...and this goes for every level.
Guess it's the easiest excuse...and they seem to never see a call that goes their way...just the 1 or 2 bad calls that go against them.
News flash people refs are human they will make mistakes...geez it just amazes me some fans

Auburn outscored Honaker 49-29 after the first quarter. One official accounted for a 20 point swing in a high school basketball game?

the VHSL is out for the VHSL and nothing else,  they will not spend money to fight any of these lawsuits!!!!  They could stop all of this if they wanted,  If there not willing to do what is right then they need to fold and reorganize into another league!!!  Also there may not be any money there to fight this as well!!!

Good links to support your statement! Anyone trying to compare what JM does to SWVA kids going across town, neighboring county, or if they live on border county going to VA/WV/KY/TN is mixing apples & oranges. Was it last year that JM had one singular kid that was truly a kid from the area originally? I think a couple posters hit the nail on the head! JM coach is padding his resumè to move on to bigger & better things.

Most definitely not the same team. Union only beat them by one with a banged up starting 5. Beat Graham after a starter quit. And was in a dogfight against Graham all night tonight. Would I still give Union the edge? Barely. Still a game where it could be a coin flip

History of getting his players hurt? Seriously?
Exactly how did the guy have the power to get someone hurt? Much less numerous people?
Sounds like a bunch of spoiled babies to me

This Virginia High team is young, and much better than they showed in the Wise tournament. Three of their losses have come against TN High  and DB. They've beat Abingdon  twice. In the SWD they've beat Graham and Marion, steamrolling both. I wouldn't base their team on one tournament game that they played poorly in and lost by 2.

Only way to fix the John Marshall problem is for teams to not show up for the game.  Once vhsl starts losing money that’ll fix that problem

At first I thought I was for a shot clock being introduced, then I realized putting another burden on the SWVA officials is the LAST thing we need to do lol. They struggle as it is.

What needs to grow?  This tourney serves the purpose it was intended for, to provide local teams and local fans a holiday tournament against regional competition in a facility that is second to none.

Lambert definitely gets the most touches and the most minutes. Poor kid is probably averaging at least 10 a game but good lord he’s definitely top 2 in shot attempts (Reece is probably first but rightfully so). Having one of their starters and their six man out definitely made a difference tonight and you could tell everyone was tired. As the season goes on I have faith that they will all get in better shape and put it all together

He most definitely is. When he gets hot he absolutely should shoot the most on the team bc the kid is a lights out shooter when he’s on. But when he’s not he needs to stop forcing up shots. Bc there’s plenty of studs on that team who can get hot

That’s what I thought, only looked like he got about 6-7 shots against eastside not really sure what the guy above was saying but he’s definitely not anywhere near leading the team in shots taken?

It’s not the kids. You're right. A youth is unlikely to get sick from this. But it’s not about them. It’s about the ones in the stands.

Mitchell Stadium will have 10k people in it for a high school game in 3 months. There will almost certainly be more than 1 person there who has the virus. The ones around them are then put at risk. They take it home and maybe go see their family on Saturday. Now they are exposed. And so on and so forth.

It’s not the kids that will make playing a sport hard to do. It’s having people in the stands. And without fans coming to the games, schools won’t and can’t play. Football pays for all other sports.

I would be shocked if they make it to week 3 of a season IF it even starts at this point. I hate it. I don’t like it. But that’s just the reality of what we are looking at. This virus is going to come back strong in a few months. We need to be ready.

Of the 56,238 cases in Virginia, 47,159 are considered active. There have been 1,586 deaths out of the 9,079 closed for a total death rate of 17%.
This probably reflects the most vulnerable dying quickly, and as the other cases are closed that rate will fall. Even if the other 47,000 cases completely recover, the 1,586 deaths would represent an approximate death rate of 3%. That doesn't sound huge, but if that average held up for the entire country and every citizen contracted coronavirus the 3% death rate would translate to 9 million dead.
There have been 5,100 cases for the under 20 age group with 0 deaths thus far. However, that is not the issue. What happens when those teenagers contract the virus and spread it to a parent with asthma or an 80 year old grandparent? That's where the problem lies.
Even if these kids are perfectly safe, other people that they come into contact with may not be. And if the VHSL or individual school districts ignore official CDC guidelines and a grandparent dies as a direct result of a player contracting the virus from a rival team during the course of a game you better believe that lawsuits will start flying. At this point, every organization's; including schools, churches, businesses and athletic leagues, primary goal is to avoid a lawsuit. Whether that involves signed waivers or just staying closed to avoid any liability, they are going to do what they must to survive financially.
I don't believe any brainwashing is involved. It is simply a case of unknowns. One 40 year old person can get it and have zero symptoms  whereas another is dead in 2 weeks. It's a matter of not wanting to find out which 40 year old we are. As more data is compiled from the people who have contracted coronavirus, we will have a better understanding of exactly who is likely to be fine or likely to die. Then, we can make an informed decision as to whether we, as individuals, can attend a ballgame or if we should just keep our butt on the couch.
My wife has already been warned by her physician that she's part of the higher risk group due to lung issues, so we know that we need to be more careful than most when we go to get groceries.
I feel very confident that I'll be just fine to attend a sporting event, but what if I contract covid and then give it to my wife? Statistics are just numbers until one of them is your spouse, parent or grandparent.
Testing samples from sewers in the US and Europe indicate that this virus may have possibly been around since September, and further prove the death rates will be very low. I hope that turns out to be true.

The explanation would be VHSL is tied to school systems and travel ball is not. I know the VHSL is far from perfect and care about their bottom line as much as anyone but most people associated with the tournaments that are starting to play are even more about making a profit. Everyone there from the sometimes thousands of dollar entry fees, the $35 tee shirts, the over priced food, the umpires and the towns that own the fields they all have a financial stake in the process a lot of them really want the youth sports industry running And it has nothing to do with the kids. The VHSL is in a drastically different situation. That being said unless something changes they definitely should be playing in fall.
