I’m not mad at all. We had an amazing 15 year run. Went to multiple state championships. Got a ring. Named one of the top 10 teams in the state for an entire decade.

And now the cycle swings the other way. That’s just how it works. I choose to be happy about the success we had and still support the hell outta the boys out there now. They’re still Blues, after all.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season, man. No need for all the hate and vitriol. Just love from me.

I've heard others say the same thing, and it would be good for the kids to have him back.  IMO there needs to be some changes in those around him, as in assistants, but Tarter is well repected and a good motivator for the program.  I think a lot of the Richlands fans have gotten spoiled over the years with their winning record, my self included, but I also understand that being a ture fan means sticking with the team through the lean years as well as the good years.  I think the program for the next few years will be competetive, but as talent seems to travel in cycles, it may be a while before we see a team in Richlands like those during the Mance years.  High School football is just fun to watch, and I came to the conclusion a long time ago that winning is good, but its not everything.  So I guess us Blues fans will just have to wait until next year to see what truly happens and if any of the rumors have any clout to them.

I know they didn’t win but what a turnaround for the Blues after the loss to Ridgeview earlier this season. Definitely, hold their heads high.

Way to keep fighting Blues! Hold your heads high. Tough end to the season.
G-Men, Bears, Wolfpack, and Warriors--whoever comes out,  I'm confident will represent the region well.

I think Tarter has done a pretty good job. Rough start for sure but Richlands has steadily improved thru the year. Very few coaches have done as much as he has with as little as he has to work with this year. Hasn't lost to anyone that he was supposed to beat and he has won twice when he was supposed to lose. I know it isn't a popular sentiment but I think he should be Region coach of the year.

I really don't know but I can offer some observations.
In the 1950s Ernie Hicks began to outfit his teams in uniforms that closely resembled the Detroit Lions (with silver helmets and light blue jerseys).  I don't know if Coach Hicks was a particular supporter of the Lions or not, but given the success and popularity of that franchise in that decade the it is unlikely that the emulation by RHS was simply a coincidence.
Not sure whether it happened with Bill Peery or Jim Hammond, but silver was dropped altogether in the late 1960s.  The primary color was still a light blue (although it was a shade or two darker than the Columbia Blue version that Hicks had favored) paired directly with white.  Helmets were either blue with a white stripe or white with a blue stripe.  Pants had the same arrangement.  And jerseys were blue with white UCLA-type shoulder stripes at home (with the reverse being used on the road).
Shortly after 1970 the football uniforms had switched to White and Navy Blue with red accents of various types.  The light blue uniform that I posted began to be rotated in around 1973 or so-- even though Navy Blue and red were also worn more often than not.  One of the more confusing outfits was a road uniform featuring the light blue pants paired with white jerseys that had Navy Blue primary numerals, red numerals on the sleeves, and red cuffs -- all topped with a white helmet featuring Navy/White/Red/White/Navy stripes.  But other sports, cheerleading uniforms, and letterman's jackets continued to be produced in the light blue color that emerged in the late 1960s.  (That particular shade often varied widely from a very light Columbia Blue to a greenish hue almost resembling Aqua.)
Todd Heldreth standardized Navy Blue and White when he arrived in 1979 and applied it across the board.  Dennis Vaught introduced silver as a secondary color when he arrived, but I think the official colors have been Navy and White effectively since 1979.

Helluva game tonight. What more could you ask for?? A well officiated game that came down to the last play. Proud of Richlands for taking Tazewells punches in the sound half and giving a few back and holding on at the end. The Creasey kid is as advertised. He’s gonna be a thorn in the regions side if the Dogs have talent around him.

These teams are separated by 3 points in 2021, with both games being barnburners. Glad the rivalry is back.
Good luck to the Dogs the rest of the way.

Richlands changed their helmets. The left side had the lightning R, but now the right side has the old early 90’s BLUES on them.

    Two things
    1. The thing that separates Tazewell's Stadium and Richlands' turf is the fact that an outside source paid for our turf, kinda hard to be too picky there, and Tazewell could have bought one shade of green paint in bulk and fixed the problem.
    2. If you take things on this message board so literal that you dig into your color wheel for reference, you should probably find a hobby for enjoyment.

Don’t think they tried. Sounds like they wanted to take the week off and just get a week of practice on fundamentals and early gameplan for Ridgeview. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought they’d want to get a road test in. Both road games this season have been either postponed or canceled. And the Ridgeview game is home. So the first time we leave Ernie Hicks will be going to Tazewell in 2 weeks.

Abindgon is very good. Richlands has 0 heart, 0 effort and 0 toughness. It is what it is at this point. You can’t change those things mid-week during practice.

Being from Marion, I can't speak to the specific incident. I will say, however, I've been around Rickie Vencille (AD at the time) when my daughter played against RHS.  He was nothing but calm and professional during several highly stressful situations.

I cannot say what was said or done during the scramble for the ball - and I’m sure there was plenty from both sides - but I was there and saw the player get hit. The Richlands player was facing the home bleachers celebrating that they had the ball when he got hit in his back and everything broke loose.
Also for whoever is interested, the principal and dad of the Richlands player was professional. He was calm, which I give him props for since his son was involved, and he did not approach the GC player. Richlands AD and others were on the field at the same time. Players and crowd were going wild, but adults on the field actually acted like adults.
