Some refs just can’t make a call at critical times. I’ve seen a handful of baseball umps who have no trouble calling strike 1 & 2 but will only call strike 3 on a swing and miss.

Wish I could say but I have not seen Radford or Gate City this year.

East Rock runs through Nickel. He is 6’7, handles the ball well, has good range and gets to the rim pretty much at will (so far).

McNair controls their game as the PG. Very quick and physical. More of a drive and dish player than a jump shooter. Great defensive player.

Evick (6’6) sometimes starts but often comes off the bench. His range is really good and apparently has the green light from anywhere. He’s a tough match up on offense but a liability on defense.

The supporting cast seems to know their role. They go 8-9 deep.

Upsetting JM will be a TALL order but I don’t think it is outside the realm of possibility.  JM could also win by 20-25 so who knows?

Just from what I read on here and other forums, sounds like Gate City would be the better match up against East Rock.

Since I live in Massanutten now, I get to watch East Rock, many Bull Run teams and most of the Valley teams. My 2 cents of the 2A remaining teams:
Girls:  Luray and Strasburg are good teams, albeit very different styles and personnel. Neither is state championship caliber IMHO.

Boys:  East Rock is big, shoots lights out and is deep. Nickels is a legit D1 talent. They probably lose to JM Tuesday but I think it will be a much better game than most think. And if it is real close late, I like ERs chances.

Tyce McNair is a heckuva guard/leader. If Evick is on, his range is out to the logo (seriously).

ER doesn’t have a true center though. They have a bunch of 6’5-6’7 guys but they are slim. If JM pounds it inside, the ER party will be over.

I caught my first shark at Cherry Grove pier when I stayed at the Prince Resort that connected to the pier.

That was always my favorite area to stay until we started staying in Garden City Beach. It’s a lot more laid back and less crowded there as there’s no real high rise hotels. We park the car and take a golf cart between Garden City and Surfside to any restaurant and attraction we want to go to. Or take a boat taxi down to the Marshwalk in Murrells Inlet. It’s far enough away to not be busy but close enough that if you want to drive into Myrtle you’re only 20 mins away.

if you’re ever in the Grand Strand area for July 4th the southern area is the best. Murrells Inlet has their boat parade in the morning, Garden City has the Golf Cart parade (which is one of the most fun things I’ve ever went to) in the middle of the day & Surfside has a big evening celebration with bands and fireworks on the beach. To each their own, but the far south Grand Strand area is my favorite.

Always wanted to fish that pier but never made it up there.  We stay in Surfside and fish in the campground, surf fish or now go to HBSP and walk to the Murrells Inlet jetties and fish.  Long hike but generally a good way to get bites.

Dang, you are all the way at the end of Cherry Grove.  Walked up that way many, many times on the beach with my wife and dog.  When we stayed in Cherry Grove, we rented a house on N. Ocean Blvd. between 47th and 48th Streets.  Remember the condos that burnt down during the hurricane a few years ago...just a couple of house back toward Sea Mountain Highway from there.  Really like that are but my wife says it floods too much with higher tides.  We've been up at Sunset for the past several years.  Really like it up there....far enough away from all the hubbub of the Grand Strand but close enough we can get there in a short amount of time.

This was a meme Trump tweeted just after the impeachment vote. I'm not a fan of all his Twitter activity, but this response was absolutely genius. This is Madison Ave. level brilliance.  Simple yet profound.
Trump doesn't have to spend millions to re-energize his base for 2020.  The Democrats are doing it for free.

    (1) Trump’s comments at the Helsinki Conference don’t even come remotely close to meeting the definition of “treason” under 18 U.S.C. 2381.  That argument is legally fraudulent.
    (2) That tweet from December 2, 2017 (a) alludes not one iota to obstruction of justice, and relies upon some “moon landing hoax” level conspiracy to tie it back to anything resembling obstruction of justice, and (b) was arguably not even written by Trump.
    (3) You’re relying on fiscal investments by China into organizations which Trump constitutionally must have no financial stake.
    (4) Questioning the militant ANTIFA does NOT equal Nazi sympathy.  He has roundly condemned Nazis in the strongest of terms, over and over again.
    (5) Why would a man worth $9,000,000,000 need campaign funds to pay off Stormy Daniels?  That sub-Mendoza Level Logic.

I could go on, but you might need to make a trip back to Occupy Democrats or some other liberal cesspool to find some more softballs for me to knock out of the park.

Do you mean if both finish with the same record?
Keep in mind, head to head games mean absolutely nothing in the point system unless both teams finished with the exact same rating. Points are based on wins and losses and opponents' wins and losses. Basically, a strength of schedule.
If Battle finished 9-1 with their only loss to a 1-9 Marion, we wouldn't say that Marion deserved to get in over Battle.

I’m not in the same business as your Union friends in calling kids a “joke”, but yes, this will be a very long year for the Bearcats for a few reasons. Now calling certain coaches a joke, I’m all for that!
I no longer have a horse in the race in SWVA football, other than just being a lifelong football fan. If I could change my name from Bearcat Dad, I would, as that moniker is no longer true. My kids are now collegiate athletes.
I will always be a VHS fan, but I am a realist. This board is littered with my posts from the last few years, with both positive and negative outlooks on VHS sports. I’m far from perfect on my predictions, but I am right more than I’m wrong.
VHS will finish between 0-10 and 3-7 this year for a few reasons, which are......
    1) They have a great group of assistant coaches, that are handcuffed by a head coach who is secretly an egomaniac. He says all the right “Coachspeak” to the media and whatnot, but does not practice what he preaches.
    2) The numbers are BAD again for VHS. So much so, that this year, they don’t have a JV team, because they need those bodies to dress out on Friday nights.
    3) I love and cheer for those VHS boys, but the fact of the matter is, is that the Jimmies and Joes are just not there to have a successful season this year. They have a few athletes, most of which are very young and very inexperienced in Varsity football. They could potentially be pretty strong in two years.
    4) This infusion of youth is in part because, in my opinion, their 3 top returning players are not there. Two because of injury, and one because of a young man’s decision to focus on baseball.
I believe that your prediction, @Counts, is very possible. There is a very big talent gap between VHS and most of the teams on their schedule this year.

Bottom line, per custom, you got snotty with someone with whom you disagreed.  However, this time, you were wrong and came across poorly by using two examples that make his point for him (one of which very clearly so).  Instead of exercising humility in accepting an error, you continue to paddle your boat against the current.  C’est la vie.  Not the first, certainly won’t be the last.

Ryan4VT...I stand corrected. My son was at game and texted me that the Richlands pitcher was the best pitcher Madison saw all year.
Congratulations to Richlands...well deserved...defeating the last 2 state champs to win it is even more impressive.

Agreed!!  Regular season game would be Bush League.  State Championship against a dominate pitcher, you have to do whatever it takes to bring home the prize!

They have attempted to bunt a lot throughout the game. A few strike 3 bunts foul even.  This isnt a bush league situation but a style of play for Madison I would believe.  Plus its 1-0 in the title game, you do whatever gives you the best chance to win.

I didnt catch that at first but apparently the throw went between Estes legs. I was assuming it was on the play at the plate originally but apparently not.
